I dont begrudge anyone but my experience was so different I got the most devastating news about my relation in a side room in the hospital a mear 5 minutes conversation.
Let me tell you no mobile numbers given etc after that we never met again only his Reg.
I just feel for people who are going through hell at the moment and may feel o why cant I text him etc
Also a lot of people sadly dont have private insurance and may not see him every time in a clinic.
And I think it was very wrong to discuss that other patient after she over heard her conversation with the secretary saying she doesent have to come back for 12 mths.
Its wonderful news but im sure the secatary and consultant would be shocked that it was broadcasted on Instagram.
I wonder did she tell that woman that she was going to tell thousands of people her most private news.
It was very easy to figure out the day and the time of day maybe that lady hadent told her nearest and dearest her news before it was broadcasted for her.
Maybe I'm over reacting but it made me cross.

It doesn’t. It’s all in her head. It is considered extremely unprofessional to form such relationships with patients and quite frankly can cost a doctor their medical licence. She’s clearly living in a fantasy fairytale where seamie is her Knight in shining armour (feel a bit sorry for Barry here). If it helps her cope in reality there’s no harm in it if you keep it private. It’s a different story though the way she’s broadcasting it.

There is a difference in the way consultants treat private and public patients in terms of interaction.

But her interaction is definitely not usual. To have a mobile number and contact 24/7 I've never heard of anyone having that sort of contact.
Most Consultant contact public or private is with a PA or a Nurse and they are the go between.
It's not as if she needs such access.

Her cancer has returned three times so it’s likely, cured for now. She did not ask for 200k that’s what people donated and it’s used so her husband can take her to the hospital and stay in a local hotel. What they choose to do with the money is up to them once it reached them, I would like to think once she has finished all medical treatment they would set up a cancer charity for families in similar position and use what’s left of the money to start it up.

Of course its bullshit. I have a great relationship with my consultant. Still have to go through his secretary to speak to him. The only direct number/email I have is my clinical nurse specialist and every patient gets their number. My consultant would be mortified if I was speaking about him/other patients on an open social media to thousands.

I don’t know how the Irish work, I had private treatment in the North and I did have my surgeons personal number. I only had to call it a few times though and it was all above board me having it as others did too. Remember we don’t know who else her consultant gives his number too, and she would have stopped talking about it by now if the consultant was afraid it could get him into trouble.

She rang him in the middle of the night because she thought she got her period but it was the menopause shedding . Its just strange .
She CRAVES the instagram attention and thats my opinion. If you need someone telling you you're an inspiration all the time there's some need there..

I got my tonsils out as a private patient and the consultant gave me his mobile number after the surgery but I assumed it was to only be used in a genuine emergency. Not in the middle of the night for bloody attention.

I don’t know a lot about the back story of her life. But reading this thread & how her bf seems to lack in a lot of areas. It’s not surprising she has Seamus on a pedestal.
She really lights up when she talks about him. It’s not normal

The hardship story soon dried up , theres only so much you can milk peoples kindness with the cancer card. How shameful , no dignity and the go fund me organisers now celebrating their entrepreneurial venture
every company associated will not get my support.
