I know people here love her but I am not finding Lauren Dubois genuine at all. She took weeks to say anything about Palestine but since she has started she’s been gaining new followers and a lot of attention and that’s why she’s talking about it everyday. I think she’s completely self serving.

I find anti vax conspiracy theorists are often quite religious.

They definitely can be that real right wing religious type, but I saw Jetset as more the earthy environmentally conscious anti vaxxer. She seemed too down to earth, but she exposed her complete wackiness during covid.

Because she posted messages she got from people asking why she hadn’t said anything about it defending it saying how she’s not going to speak about something just because someone passively aggressively asks her to. It very much looked to me like she didn’t start talking about it until it was getting mass attention.

I just went and checked her highlights and her earliest Palestine story is Oct 17 so not as long as I thought but 10 days is still a while and hasn’t changed my mind that she only started talking about it because every else was/the pressure was on/she saw how much attention it was getting. People don’t have to agree but I don’t think she’s genuine, I think she fixates on topics she knows other people care about

I’m going to disagree on this one. She was heavily focussed on the referendum before this and was really working hard to educate and sway voters in the months leading up to that. Doing waaaay more than most influencers who kept absolutely silent until referendum day before they posted a smug ‘Yes’ pic to their stories or remained silent.

The renewed conflict in Gaza started on the 7th with the Hamas invasion and Israel declaring a state of war immediately before issuing the evacuation warning on the 14th and ramping up air strikes on the 17th. The whole situation is abhorrent, with acts of terrorism and war crimes being committed on both sides.

LDB just is not the kind of person to stay quiet on matters she considers unjust and her timing is appropriate. At least her focus is mainly consistent and she’s not bending to pressure from brands or other influencers and media folks to pipe down.

The Voice referendum was on 14 October and she was posting heavily about that, which I’d say is why she didn’t get into that issue sooner. From memory the comments telling her to post were baiting ones from people that didn’t follow her and wanted her to condemn Hamas. She posts on issues that she’s fixated about, most people don’t give a tit about Palestine and aren’t saying anything at all. She’d be a moron to go after a few extra followers (mostly in foreign countries) at the expense of losing jobs and income. She cares.

You can dislike her all you like! It’s a discussion page and I’m just trying to understand what she apparently has to gain. Objectively, she’s losing followers and jobs and money and making the algorithm dislike her, sooo…?? For some hypothetical clout from who exactly? For what purpose? It’s sadly not actually something most people care about. Everyone has moved on, even if they threw up a token couple of stories a month ago. I don’t think it’s hard to believe that someone (anyone!!) feels passionately and wants to talk about such a horrific situation. I’m shocked that everyone else is apparently able to just exist with their heads in the sand and pretend everything’s fine.

I get why people dislike her for loads of different reasons. Logically, I just don’t get this (and I don’t have to, but we’ve all got opinions and this is the place for them ).

I think people are critical of Lauren without comparing her to other Aussie influencers. She’s definitely more intelligent and quite the opposite of fake (in my opinion) I don’t think it’s fair to be critical of people for not posting on certain topics. I saw some post early and the information turned out to be incorrect.

Lauren Dubois has been trying to get an angle to move on from being a “Mummy Blogger” for a while now. She tries to play the ‘intellectual’ card because she used to be a journalist many moons ago… but IMO she’s just desperate for attention and clout. She jumps on any bandwagon to get engagement and “prove” how knowledgeable she is. Does she really think she’s changing the world by trying to influence her mummy blog followers? I think she’s a classic example of a mum who probably needs to go back to work now and use her brain for good and not Instagram

Lauren Dubois frustrates me in many ways and I don't follow her anymore, however I think she has been incredibly brave with what she's posted recently. There is no way I could do what she does and deal with the awful constant backlash.

I love Lauren’s content, it’s vastly different from the typical scabby bleep influencers, who post their kids for likes and clout.
I find Lauren to be very intelligent, loves her family & has strong views on matters, I like how she uses her stadium of fans to help spread her messages, some things I don’t agree with, but she has never done anything that’s made me want to unfollow, I quite like that she will hear out a difference of opinion instead of blocking me

Did anyone see that scamming fuckhead Miki Fisher has started a new Podcast, has her distance email reiki / readings not been scamming enough people so she’s branching out? This is one person I can’t stand, purely because I feel she’s conning money from vulnerable people.

Agree that she probably needs to find something more meaningful than Instagram to do with her time and I’ll be curious to see what she does once the youngest starts school. She doesn’t post a lot of the day to day now, so I think it’s easy to forget that she’s a full time mum still (I think the littlest has just started transition a couple of days a week).

I don't really like her either but I did enjoy most of her Voice content and I do appreciate/support her Palestine content.

Every now and then she dips into being too condescending for me but overall I appreciate her speaking up about Palestine.

It may be not genuine or for engagement - but it's still speaking out.

I remember she shared a DM asking why she wasn't speaking up out the Hamas attacks, it was very passive aggressive and pro-Israel, I think it was in the days after she got more vocal about Palestine.

I don’t follow LBD, I have in the past but I don’t like the sort of content that is 20+ stories a day and when she was discussing her ADHD diagnosis I as someone with ADHD found it so overwhelming I unfollowed. I don’t think she’s posting about Palestine purely for clout but I do think she is missing some nuance/understanding of antisemitism with some of the things she says (I am 100% against the bombing of Gaza fwiw).
