I’m also from Ireland and finding it hard to secure an appointment with an endocrinologist due to backlog. I was going to just buy it from the Uk but apprehensive just in case I get really sick with it.
I waited 3 years (!!) on the public list and still no joy so went private and got an appointment in 3-4 weeks. That appointment cost €200 and their prescription is valid for 6 months so I don’t have to go back until next year.

If you search on Facebook for Saxenda Ireland there’s a group for ROI/NI and once you join it’s actually just a girl from NI selling the pens that will ship to Ireland. She partners with some doctor in the UK so it seems to be above board although I wouldn’t do it myself as I’d be concerned about the level of aftercare. The group itself is basically her spamming it morning noon and night asking who wants to order or buy this extra thing or whatever. The UK support group on Facebook is much more active (and supportive!) but there’d be no info on buying in Ireland there.

Thanks, I went private and I won’t have an appointment until jan. I rang a few places and I was recommended an endo in Kildare and it was June 2022 before I can get one. I’d prefer to get some online perhaps parcel motel would work.

has anyone tried orlislat?
My friend had these tablets as she'd gained a lot of weight due to back surgery. I tried a couple .. in all honesty they didn't do much, just alot of leaky orange liquid if you ate anything fatty.
I wish I could've got past the sickness with Saxenda but I really suffered with it even on the lowest dosage.

I was prescribed Orlistst a few years back. I had to stop it after a few days.

As well as the orange poo I got instant dandruff/itchy scalp and bad joint pain.

Marking my spot here as I'll be starting Saxenda in the next few days - just trying to shift some unrelated nausea first (wouldn't want to pile nausea on nausea!). My endocrinologist (who is also a bariatric surgery specialist) prescribed it as I have a large amount of weight to lose and I'm not so keen on weight loss surgery. Costs c. 250 euro in Ireland for 5 x 6mg pens, 100 needles and sharps bin 🤓
Hi,
How have you been getting on? I started on 1st of Oct, put zero effort in, binged way too much but still managed to lose 8lb, I’m getting the motivation now to put the effort in. Its shocking no company in Ireland is supplying this drug. I paid €450 for 2 weekly pens and 1 monthly, then DPD charged €20. Today I’ve started the weekly dose and ordered another weekly pen €200!! It’s not cheap

No point if you're overweight due to eating carbs - you just subconsciously switch from pastry/things with fat in for shedloads of pasta and stuff with sugar in. Miss out on calcium as well because you can't eat any cheese or have milk without it affecting you badly. No oily fish, either. Or avocado, olive oil or other beneficial things that keep you satiated, so you're hungrier and eating higher calories.

I lost 7 pounds on the prescription version and then my weight started increasing as I followed the registered dietician's menu plan for the first time.

And where did you order them from to deliver to Ireland?

Just came across this thread as I have been looking into using this for my weight loss. like others here I also suffer with PCOS and find it difficult to loose weight. I was going to start beginning of November but after reading about alcohol will wait until January as the social diary is full on until New Year!

Great to read so many of you have had fabulous results. I’m a little concerned about the nausea and heartburn as I have a hernia and do suffer with heartburn/indigestion but I do take Omeprazole so will hope this keeps it at bay. My local surgery’s pharmacy offers the injections to buy and I checked with my doctor who said it was absolutely fine for me to take.

So I have read the thread, I have been curious about starting Saxenda as I have seen some brilliant results in friends.
My only concern is the thyroid and pancreatic potential risk.....from my research i believe the risk is heightened by being on the 3mg for a longer period, as the amount of Liraglutide in diabetic users is 1.2mg or 1.8mg max per day, so by having 3mg that is double what a diabetic user has (and seen as safe on the NHS etc) so my thinking is to use 0.6mg or 1.2mg and never go above. Will I still get results from this amount? My BMI is 32 and i really only want to lose 1-1.5 stone? Sorry for the waffling but I just want to get rid of any worry / doubt around the long term risks!

I lost that in a couple of months, you won’t be on it long term.

I’m now 24 lbs down and on 3.0 and have been since about the beginning of September. I plan to stay on for a year as that is what is recommended.

The data on the cancer risk is limited to date so it's difficult to make any concrete assumptions from it and the maths methodology is kind of a moot point on that basis. When something is considered safe that doesn't mean it absolutely is, just that the risk is sufficiently low that the NHS is content the benefits outweigh that risk for most people. This is a choice that should be made in conjunction with a prescriber of the medication and what you're comfortable with yourself. It's impossible to know who may or may not suffer any potential side effects such as cancer - most of it is just down to luck. If limiting your dose makes you feel better about taking it then so be it - whether that actually lowers your risk of developing a serious side effect is impossible to gauge. In my case I wouldn't have dreamt of taking it unless I had a huge amount of weight to lose, which I do. It's a relatively 'young' drug with many years to go before any possible patterns of serious side effects come to light when it's used as a weightless aid. I'm not saying it's dangerous to use, but I think you have to go with what feels right for you and what you're comfortable with.

I have never injected more than the 1.2 dose, I've been using it since the beginning of September and have lost nearly 2st. I don't get that I'm full after two mouthfuls anymore but and this is the important bit for me the 1.2 dose is enough to stop me binging which was a massive problem for me and give me a normal appetite.

This is exactly my issue, I have no stop button!

Hi,
I started in October. It’s been a very slow and expensive process but I have lost a stone. For Oct I ordered the daily pen and now I’m on the weekly pen which is working better for me. I’ve worked out it’s costing me €70 per week!! It’s a lot of money but I’ve tried for years and so far this is all that’s working. I get the pen shipped to Ireland from Slimcare Medical in the UK. A 4 week supply with shipping and customs is €260, I was taking 54 clicks and needed to inject every 5 days but I’m now managing to get to 7 days on 54 clicks. I’ve put in zero effort had lots of blow outs too, if I eat well and exercise the weight loss is better and faster. I find them good to deal with. I can’t understand how it’s not available in Ireland.

Jeezo you’d be cheaper having an overnight trip to UK and getting them delivered to your hotel/air bnb!
Not a bad idea!

And where did you order them from to deliver to Ireland?
Sorry only logged in now. Slimcare medical. Had a terrible delivery delay to start but they use DPD now, there is a customs fee of €20 from DPD but you will have the delivery in a week. Not cheap but I’m only eating half the food I used to and I’m happy enough to pay for it

Hi I don't usually post here but after some help if poss 🙏

I have been referred to the Tier 3 weight management clinic by my doctor as my weight is really starting to get me down and I literally just sobbed for my whole doctors appointment.
I have an assessment with a group in February with a dietitian and psychologist. The group session thing scares me a bit as does the psychology.
Has anyone had any experience of this and let me know what's entailed please? (I am in Co Durham)

When the leaflets and appointment came it was all very bariatric surgery based so I wonder if this is the route they're going down as I did mention on the phone I was 3 clicks away from going to Turkey!

Could I ask that Saxenda be considered first or is very much a lottery?
