Not sure if I've posted this before but I had a line manager who overused the phrase "cascading information down." By the time I left, the only thing I wanted to cascade was my fist into their face
I cannot even work out what that means?!Not sure if I've posted this before but I had a line manager who overused the phrase "cascading information down." By the time I left, the only thing I wanted to cascade was my fist into their face
Long winded way of saying you'll pass on information. Usually from a boss down to theirI cannot even work out what that means?!
Ah welcome to tech are you using Jira for project management? I constantly have to hear my boss say "I'll assign you on a ticket for that", "what epic is that in?", "ok we'll look at that in the next sprint" etcIâve just started a new role in IT and they adopt the Agile methodology and wow it comes with a whole universe or terms and made up job titles.
you might already be familiar with these but basically
Developer Team = Squad
Wider Team = Scrum
Daily meetings = Daily Stand Up
Person who manages the team = Scrum Master
my brain =
Weâve just moved to Azure Dev Ops but previously used Agile Studio.Ah welcome to tech are you using Jira for project management? I constantly have to hear my boss say "I'll assign you on a ticket for that", "what epic is that in?", "ok we'll look at that in the next sprint" etc
Being part of an agile team has a secret benefit which I'll let you in on.. if people from outside of my team try to get me to do something for them (I'm a designer, people always try to assign me stuff), I tell them they have to ask my boss because it's not in my sprint lol. I have problems saying no to people, but no-one can argue with the developers/designers scrum board on Jira lol
I'm now worried that we're work colleagues...Ah welcome to tech are you using Jira for project management? I constantly have to hear my boss say "I'll assign you on a ticket for that", "what epic is that in?", "ok we'll look at that in the next sprint" etc

One Team One Dream I always say this in a really sarcastic way when our boss is being overly peppy!Team work makes the dream work cringe cringe cringe
My boss always talks about our department being âthe golden glueâ that holds things together.'The golden thread'
Poor youMy boss always talks about our department being âthe golden glueâ that holds things together.
We do a lot of âroad mappingâ for our âfootprint for the futureâ that we âsocialiseâ to colleagues via âtown hallâ, âlunch and learnâ or âthe hot washâ.
We do a lot of âparkingâ, âtaking offlineâ and âcircling backâ. We spend a lot of time talking about âlessons learnedâ and âsharing knowledge wealthâ.
One of our directors will start meetings by saying âCalabria, whatâs hot and sexy in (my department)â which makes me want to scratch my own eyes out.
we also talk a lot about âabove the lineâ and âbelow the line behaviourâ and having âcourageous authenticityâ to call our people being âbelow the lineâ
At the end of a project or after a meeting with clients we will have a quick meeting straight away to get the issues out on paper, âquick and dirtyâ so itâs basically like a bitching session, then everyone goes away to work through the issues and find potential solutions which are discussed in the debrief.Poor you
what on earth is the hot wash?
what does that even mean!?pop corn style
I was just about to comment this! Am I your friend? Thankfully, I've only ever had one colleague who used it.My friend absolutely hates âend of playâ lol
*shudders* So glad I work in a very dry, British-humoured team.Team work makes the dream work cringe cringe cringe
