Just seen Metallica have announced UK dates for next year. Anyone planning to go? Are they worth seeing live these days?

I fancy the show with Pantera but I doubt I’ll be able to convince my boyfriend, he reckons they’ve long since had their day 🙈 I saw them about ten years ago when they did Glastonbury and really enjoyed it. Think their quality seems to be a matter of opinion these days lol

I took my then 15 year old to see them at Sonisphere back in 2014 (I think that was the year) and we’ve seen them again a few years ago. He messaged me as soon as the announcement came out asking me if I want to go, because he absolutely does. He’ll be at work when the tickets go on sale but I’m on half term next week, so I’ve been tasked with getting tickets. I’m 60, so old school when it comes to rock/metal, all the bands I like are either past it or dead! 🫣

I've just looked at hotel rooms for Cardiff, and £60/£70 chain hotel rooms are £450 :cautious:

I got tickets for Cardiff for myself, my son and his gf. My son said I’m the ‘best mum in the world’. Bless him. 🤣

I didn't think the tickets were too unreasonably priced!
I couldn’t believe I had 3 £75 tickets bought and paid for within 5 minutes ( and they’re not even restricted view). Totally unlike other recent attempts to get tickets on Ticketmaster presages. My son is still talking about it, he’s so excited. 🤣

I saw them at Glastonbury then too! I really enjoyed the show but don't feel the need to see them again....although I'm more into post-metal these anyway....

Nice to hear the tickets are pretty reasonably priced though, makes a change!

I really want to go. But for London it’s a 2 day event. Friday and Sunday, wtf. That’s 3 nights I’ll need a hotel for. I’d like to see Pantera and Gojira as well so I’m tempted to fly somewhere else and make it a holiday!

Thats why we considered Germany have a city break that would break the bank

I just did a trip to Paris a couple of weeks ago to see Ghost. Did it on the cheap and it cost me £190 for travel, hotel and ticket. Cost me £130 just for travel and ticket to go to the London show! I would definitely recommend going abroad and including it as part of a city break, I’ve done it a few times now.

Sounds like bargain. I saw Ghost last year and it cost a ridiculous amount once added hotel and train tickets. Thanks guys. You have influenced me 😄

Finally got around to booking a flight to London for Dethklok next month 🤪 Finding a decently priced hotel (at this stage even I'd do with a hostel) is another story in itself

Was just googling Metallica tickets and raised eyebrows as it said in the Google overview that for Germany some tickets are retailing for 30€. Got suspicious and of course it's not Metallica, but some tribute band. Eff off Google and sort out your overview!

Maybe I should book a hotel I had in mind that's literally a stones throw away from the venue... verdy clever thinking... it's not any different to a lot of hotels in London if not on the cheaper side
