It's a small whinge but my husband decided he was cooking beef and guinness stew (for himself, I wouldn't eat it) the kitchen now smells like a brewery and to add insult to injury, he accidently stood on the cat's food so now she's not happy either.

We've ended up in a really unproductive routine. Im so tired in the morning because I've been up with the little one for ages in the night .I find it hard to get up in the morning been setting alarm for 8:30 . Other kids aren't early risers either, older has home school and gets up at the last minute but still needs to be in the bathroom and so does the rest of us. Then little one naps and we are ready for lunch so they are eating at mid afternoon . Good job we don't need to be anywhere.

However, it's a long day if we get up too early.
We're in the same boat. My siblings will get up minutes before their online lessons, sit up in bed and participate. After the teacher sets the task about 20 mins in, they think that's their time to visit the bathroom to freshen up!
I have lost all routine in terms of working hours, I feel like I can never switch off. If my laptop is open, I'll automatically go to answer emails, set work, reply to comments etc. Treating it a bit like Tattle where I reply to comments all the time!
We're letting everyone do their own thing right now but I think after half term, if this homeschool goes on, we will be turning our study in to the kids school room. All laptops with headphones downstairs in the morning and they need to be on time and ready to learn by 9am. Deducting behaviour points if late 😂
We also nap at lunch times and then eat when online! Balance lol

Was cleaning the mesh covers off the cooker hood and one of the effing carbon filters just fell on my head.

It bloody hurt and it was disgusting. I’m now grumpy and greasy. And it was scary. Thought it was an alien falling out the ceiling.

So, as it's public sector, they will be very mindful of any complaints you could make on this - particularly as you are protected in employment law as you are pregnant. I would complain in writing to HR and then also raise it with your local authority HR team too. They could always move you to a new school after your maternity leave.

Make a note of all the instances of her behaviour being an issue so you have a record.
Sorry to message again, yesterday I requested an office chair to be put at my work station, I’ve had an email off her this morning saying there is no chair available and as staff we aren’t allowed to share or borrow each other’s chairs - can she make me sit on a plastic non adjustable seat at a computer for 2 days straight? Am I being unreasonable? I feel totally stuck with this - kick up a fuss and I’m the a-hole, don’t say anything and put up with a bad back that I can’t take anything for because I’m pregnant :( x

She should purchase a new one for you. I would either contact your Union rep or the main HR team, forwarding on the email she sent you. I don't think this can be dealt with without involving the main HR team as she seems really quite unreasonable.

My lecturer just emailed us with the ‘rota’ for university lectures beginning Monday next week. According to him, the university dislike that so many students didn’t have their camera on last term so now a chunk of students will have to put their camera on and each week he will pick and choose students who need to have their camera on. The attitude being that if we were in a job interview we would need to have our camera on. Maybe it’s just me being picky but I find it a stupid decision to make, I understand the reasoning behind it but we’re hardly applying for jobs, it’s a pandemic.

For me for example it means having to tidy my room and get myself ‘presentable’ before the lecture, I am disabled so struggle/take a long time to do these things (it’s not just a five minute job done thing and I don’t have another ‘suitable’ room to go to), I don’t think it’s taking into consideration that people may still be struggling with stuff like this/struggling mentally, especially when it’s randomised so you can’t plan for it either. He does say that if you can’t put your camera on due to technical issues or mental health issues you can say so but I’d find that really embarrassing - last term we were picked up on it e.g. in the lecture the lecturer was saying “Apple, why isn’t your camera on“ and I mean, why should you have to explain yourself to anybody/in front of everyone?

Argh. duck off Zoom.

Yeah - I thought the argument for leaving your camera off would be that it meant the students actually focussed on the speaker as opposed to scrolling through and looking at their friends on camera the whole time? you could try one of those backgrounds that hides your room?

I was on the Air France website earlier today to make sure I have the necessary paperwork to enter Paris, and then onto London tomorrow night.

There's a webpage that highlights Covid-19 restrictions and regulations, which is all fair enough. However, it then goes onto mention that people why fly into any English airport must self-isolate for 10 days (again, fair enough). But then it lists a whole raft of exceptions.....

Passengers must quarantine for 10 days on arrival in the United Kingdom, due to the outbreak of Covid-19

This does not apply to the following passengers:

  1. Diplomats, consular officers, and representatives of international organisations travelling to the UK on official business;
  2. Defence personnel and government contractors;
  3. Passengers required to work essential border duties;
  4. Passengers travelling for essential government work;
  5. Passengers who travel between the UK and another country for work at least once a week;
  6. Drivers of vehicles for the international carriage of goods or passengers;
  7. Civil aviation inspectors;
  8. Eurotunnel and Eurostar crew;
  9. Workers engaged in essential work for Network Rail;
  10. Seamen, masters, inspectors, and surveyors of ships;
  11. Pilots and crew;
  12. Essential workers for water, sewer, waste management used for the management, sorting, treatment, recovery or disposal of waste, or for ensuring the continued operation of power plants safely, gas or electricity transmission or distribution networks, electricity interconnections, gas terminals or district or communal heat networks;
  13. Workers required for the continued safe operation for offshore oil and gas infrastructure and space infrastructure in the UK;
  14. Nuclear personnel;
  15. Aerospace engineers or specialist workers responsible for the safe operation of aircraft;
  16. Workers with technical skills required for essential works to ensure the safe operations of a downstream oil facility with capacity in excess of 20,000 tonnes;
  17. Postal workers;
  18. Passengers receiving pre-arranged healthcare in the UK;
  19. Healthcare professionals;
  20. Passengers transporting human cells or blood used for the purpose of healthcare;
  21. Passengers responsible for or involved in quality assurance for human and veterinary medicines, clinical trials and investigations and pharmacovigilance;
  22. Essential persons needed for clinical trials or studies;
  23. Essential I.T. professionals;
  24. International prison escorts;
  25. Advertising productions personnel;
  26. Broadcasting transmission network and services personnel;
  27. Business directors bringing jobs and investment to the UK;
  28. Passengers involved in essential maintenance and repair of data infrastructure;
  29. Passengers engaged in urgent or essential work on electronic communications networks;
  30. Sportspersons and essential support staff;
  31. Workers engaged in essential or emergency works relating to flood and coastal erosion risk management;
  32. Journalists;
  33. Passengers who represent organisations which are participating in the fourth National Lottery Licence competition;
  34. Performing arts professionals;
  35. Seasonal agricultural and poultry workers; or
  36. Television and film production personnel.
I suppose I can understand some of them (especially healthcare and other essential people), but its still one hell of a list of exceptions, even if they do carry a negative PCR Test document. The question is, what is the difference between them and everyone else who must adhere to SI?

Ok, really pissed off. I should have expected this, being married to a Narc, but seriously? Yesterday he got a parcel and opened it immediately without a care in the world. Today I got a parcel, and had to receive it off the delivery guy in a plastic bag while wearing a mask. Open the package wearing gloves & said mask (he leapt around in the background ranting about the virus), wash hands, wash and sanitise the item I received, wash hands again, dump the packaging immediately in the outside bin, wash & sanitise hands, then because I started looking at what I bought right away, he went to bed in a huff because I was "infected". Should have got a bleeping vibrator, not a book.

Fed up of this lockdown like everyone else. I live on my own and it's just so draining, I am trying to put on a brave face but it's just so hard. I have tried to reach out but at the same time I don't wanna lay my problems on other people and feel needy but I am just so sad.

Everyone comes to me with their problems.. big or small and I will do everything in my power to help that person but I feel like I don't get same back from anyone, not that I expect it at all. I just give more love than I receive

I am also sick of being single and wasting time on people who hurt me, I don't know if I am too nice or too gullible but I just want to find someone and settle down and feel like it will never happen.....
I feel like I could have written this ❤ I feel like I am always the sounding board for all the friend's problems but when I go to them feeling low all I get is 'don't worry it will get better, things could be worse!' and I'm like yeah I know they could be worse but that isn't what I want to hear as it makes my feelings totally invalid and I should be happy about having a job and a roof over my head. I get that it is always perspective but sometimes someone who on paper has a great life can still have struggles. I am so bored and lonely as sin with zero prospects and I'm getting older so any options I have are dwindling and there is nothing I can do about it because of COVID. Then all I get from my married pregnant best friend is 'it will happen someday ... when I met my partner blah blah' and she makes it about her even though they met 10 years ago and how is that relevant to my situation?

I'm so sorry to piggy back off your comment but I honestly related to it so much and I know exactly how you feel so I am sending you so much love and hugs and support and really hope things look up for you soon, it's a totally tit time and I am right there with you!

I really feel for you. So many people's lives feel on hold at the moment. Two of my friends have met people on online dating and said they found it better as they had no option but to just chat for longer than they would do normally and get to know the guy before meeting. Maybe your friends just don't know what to say in terms of something constructive so end up kind of putting their foot in it?

I hope this ends soon and you have an absolutely brilliant year.

Are you okay? x
I'm ok, thank you. Just a bit down. Had a bad day - me and my boyfriend have been at eachothers throats all day. I've kicked him out twice but let him back twice too 🥴 we're just round each other too much. I've not seen anyone other than him & the baby for so long. It's making me miserable. I don't know how anyone manages to cope

Oh I know the feeling. Myself and my husband were both working from home last week and nearly killed each other. Apparently he 'couldn't concentrate' while I was in the house :rolleyes:
My neighbour is working from home while his wife and 3 small kids are there, so if he can manage!

I think everyone has cabin fever at this stage, and the MIL from hell doesn't help matters as I'm sure you know yourself!

My home sale is about to collapse and there’s nothing I can do about it. There are so many people involved with solicitors, managing agents, estate agents, the nuisance buyer, and no one is talking to each other. It’s making my hair fall out and I’ve not slept properly in weeks. I’ve never felt so stressed in my life and I can control any of it. Raaaaaa.

She sounds like as big a nightmare as mine. How close by is she? Mine is a 5 minute drive. You can guess where my husband is right now :rolleyes:
