My friend went through the exact same thing and now resents her mum … funnily enough her mum also made her big by the time she was a teenager and she hates her for it.

Can confirm! I grew up entirely dependent on my mum because she made me feel like her best friend because she needed me for company/comfort and I rarely socialised with children my own age. I hated going to school and would do anything to stay home, I would never do sleepovers even at my dads and if I did manage to go, I’d call my mum to pick me up! It’s a horrible codependency, I cried for 3 weeks straight when I moved out. It’s made me a very socially anxious adult and I hold so much resentment towards my mum!
Edited to add - I also suffer with my weight as a result of my mum yoyo dieting all through my childhood. I developed a terrible relationship with food and was “big” all my life until recently. It’s incredibly detrimental having that sort of relationship with your mum.
