I think I’m gonna just look into a staycation instead now. If there’s anywhere left Does anyone have any recommendations for a family of 4 with a 5 and 7 year old? Anywhere in the UK I am willing to travel to wherever I can!

How do you prove the outcome of the LFT? Are they the less expensive ones? I get confused with the different tests lol

Depends on the testing company you use. Ours are lateral flow tests, we do them, take a pic, submit it through their portal they verify it then send back the cert to say yes your negative etc. Some you do a video call I believe.

How are people feeling about holidays now? I usually have a UK holiday and a city break type holiday somewhere in Europe. UK holidays are already more expensive than I've ever paid before so thinking of skipping it and just going to Amsterdam. Found some cheap flights for July but just not sure if I should commit. I know Europe aren't vaccinating as well as us, but we both should have had both vaccines by May.

Hi all, due to go to lanzarote in November and really looking forward to it but honestly the main thing worrying me is the seatbelts on the flight. We are flying with Ryanair and I know Iv put on quite a bit of weight since I last flew especially since covid .. I am convinced the seatbelt won’t fit me. I’d be about a size 18/20 now when before I would have been 16. It’s really worrying me to the point I want to cancel the holiday

There’s no reason why it shouldn’t, I’m a size 18 and it’s fine, but they can give you an extender on the belt and they do it so discreetly,

The clever people are those who keep quiet about where they are going and so if it goes Amber while you're there you can happily do what you want when you get back.

Worked for us last year. It is horrible not being able to talk about your holiday though.

For amber this year though you still have to do the 2 mandatory tests on return so its not ideal.

We managed to get to Tenerife the start of March last year before all this kicked off for 5 days just a mini break but it was part of our honeymoon and we where meant to go somewhere else for longer in September time as our main honeymoon as well but we never booked anything because everything was just uncertain. I’m now currently pregnant due in March so won’t be going anywhere anytime soon but hoping to maybe even get a short city break away somewhere in September for our 2nd wedding anniversary, not booking anything though just gonna wait and see what things are like come the summer

I am not sure, It's certainly the lowest period anyway (after Christmas holidays and winter weather) and for obvious reasons tourists visitors (French and European) have deserted, so they'd better close than pay all the staff for nothing.

Due to restrictions in France and it’s usually very quiet anyway at that time of year. I think they have just decided to plan for a short closure.

I have a friend who is “friends” with the princesses she’s continued to stay in her employee accommodation during this closure in order to be ready for when the park reopens for Christmas. Her and the other cast members haven’t been sent home X

I saw that she thinks UAE will be red list

the UAE currently has a fantastic vaccination programme and their infection rates have reduced heavily. The only thing that makes me think it’ll be red list is because of all the influencers who will fly over immediately/Dubai is a huge travel hub to other countries. Even though they are not doing flights to India right now

Are the quarantine hotels at the airport? The airport staff were escorting travellers to their airports last year.

Tui/First choice are not offering cancellation or free amendments for amber zone countries?!

wish it was a bit more clearer to what they’ll do as opposed to expecting people to holiday in amber zones

Thats strange as I thought they weren't doing holidays where you have to quarantine on return and you do with amber countries?!

ETA thats a poor move on their part in my opinion. But I can see that they must be desperate for money and bookings to go ahead.

Just been looking at their stories in IG and it does seem like if you are going in the next 4 months you can amend free of charge

I'm looking to go on a short European break in October - somewhere where I can stay in a bit of a bougee hotel, a place that is easy to get around without hiring a car and has nice weather at that time of year i.e. hot enough to sit by a pool/on the beach. I was looking at Malta but I've heard mixed things about it - has anyone been and can recommend it? I was looking at Greece, but think I'd like a full week rather than just a few days and after Covid - I'm really tempted to try somewhere new. Perhaps Palma in Menorca? Obviously it would need to be somewhere which is letting UK residents in without the need of quarantining!

Similarly, I'd love to maximise my annual leave between Christmas and spend New Years Eve abroad - I was thinking Mexico, but would that be too ambitious for 7 days? I really like the idea of spending new years on a beach somewhere warm. Or maybe I'll just settle for a wintery European break!

I second Croatia, particularly Dubrovnik. Beautiful hotels on the Lapad Peninsula which is only a short bus ride away from Dubrovnik main centre. We visited end of Sept a few years and ago and it was still warm, we lay by the pool, went to the beach etc. The South of Spain will still be warm in October too, south of Italy (around Sorrento and Amalfi Coast) is lovely but sometimes not hot enough to really properly sun bathe unless you get very fortunate with the weather.

For Christmas, I think Mexico for 7 days is fine but its currently red list. What about somewhere in the Caribbean? My top recommendation for Christmas is SE Asia particularly Thailand but again red list and a very long flight for only 7 days.

I’m a bit confused. If I was to go to Greece and I am fully vaccinated so I not need a test to go? From what I understand from the gov website I don’t but when I’ve read articles it says I do?

The news this morning is that bookings are surging, especially for the half term. Turkey is apparently a big half term destination in the making but this suggest people aren't doing their research. Sure, the tests have changed and it's no longer red listed but the COVID restrictions are awful. Anyone going there would have a miserable holiday unless what they want is to actually go to a restriction packed place.

We looked at going for half term, it’s not too bad, I don’t mind wearing masks but for the most part we would just chill in the sun and be one of those boring people who relax at the hotel and rarely leave. What put me off was the requirement for PCR testing to enter.

Do we have to take test before we depart from the UK? When I went to Croatia they never checked it so wondering whether it was ever even mandatory?

Depends on where you are going. If you Google the country and covid requirements our government website has the info and links so select them.
