What is the situation with travel within the UK? I live in NI and hoping for a weekend break to London in about 2 months. We havent booked flights yet but you would think with international travel starting to open this should too.

I'm eyeing up Portugal. I have a week off mid July, just before the kids break for summer and I've a week off in August, which I will have to take my 13 year old, as jts school holiday and I'm not that selfish ... is it selfish for me to be ME , have ME time and get pissed and do fuck all for 4 days BY MYSELF . I actually have taken myself off on short European stays for 3 days because I refuse to spend a week off doing nothing . That's what days off are for not a WEEK off so I book things last minute much to the mans disgust . I did invite him on 2 of my short breaks , one to Auschwitz, he didnt want to go..and the second one was Barcelona last minute , literally I decided 3 days before and he had back to back meetings all that week that couldnt be shifted
He literally does not want to go away this year at all , but I'm feeling like I probably might want to . Only spain , very short distance and only for 3 nights.. doing what I want ,when I want, how I want .. as long as my daughter gets her weekend in Brighton she be ok , I am eyeing up the mid July, because the price hikes right up in August

Day 2 testing on arrival back to the UK is due to change (from PCR to lateral flow) at the end of the month so keep an eye out for that! 🥳

The thought of actually getting away is the only think that is keeping me sane at the moment. However even I have to admit as each day goes by I just don’t know it’s gonna happen.
I’ve got a big birthday (21 😉😝) in a couple of months my big trip to Las Vegas is down the swanny 🚽😭.
We’re supposed to be going to Jamaica in August (moved back a year from last year) and I don’t even know about that.
It’s the not knowing that’s absolutely killing me

I still dont think i will book anywhere this year apart from maybe a couple days in London. I'd quite like to do some day trips but not sure where. Im hoping I can go back to America next year, it feels way too risky at the moment.

After I cancelled my flights my bf and I considered meeting in a green country such as Portugal (since he had already taken days off work for my visit). But is there even any point? I’m sure Portugal is essential travel only and other countries aren’t even letting visitors in??

Mine will be 7 and 3. We have done 2 Disney cruises and trips to Disney land Paris since having kids 🙈😂

Just haven’t been able to mentally cope with the long flight until I was satisfied they would watch tablets for 8 hours on the plane 😂😂😂
Yeah I’m thinking DLP until they are 3 then WDW and alternate between the 2 each year. (Love how I am planning my Disney trips like 5 years into the future 😂)

I am jealous! Would love to do a Disney cruise one day, they look amazing from the YouTube videos I’ve watched, trying to persuade my husband though as they are pricey.

Your safest bet is to pay it off. It will then be cancelled nearer the time and you get a refund or move it.

This is been pretty standard with tui and other holiday companies over the last year.

A friend had a holiday for Egypt last year even though travel from the UK wasn't banned at that point Egypts Borders were shut and it was against foreign office advice to travel there. TUI wouldn't cancel as they said it could still go ahead. She paid in full, 24 hours after paying they cancelled it.
It’s a bit risky though. If it can’t be cancelled for whatever reason then they have another £2k of our money and we’d have to amend the holiday.

If I knew for certain it’d be cancelled then I’d do that but sod’s law it won’t happen that way 😬

It’s so frustrating, they have us backed into a corner.

I’ve got flight only booked with tui for august 21. Booked before covid so I have no covid protection, and I’m stuck at the moment. They have said if testing is required I could amend my date but only 14 days before departure!
Yeah, it doesn’t give much time to change plans does it? I still have no idea what to do and I highly doubt there’ll be an announcement by the end of the week. Had hoped there’d be one on 12th!

I wish they had kept the amber watchlist. Surely better to warn people if something is likely to go red and they’d have to hotel quarantine than going to amber?

Thats strange as I thought they weren't doing holidays where you have to quarantine on return and you do with amber countries?!
I thought this. Unless they do as they did last year and wait until a week before specific dates and cancel?

it’s stating on the app only red countries or IF a amber country goes into red can you amend for free or cancel. But on the amber countries it’s simply following the countries rules but nothing about Free amendment or cancelling.

I’m hoping to go to Greece in 2 weeks but want to ask a question about tests before I book anything. Do I have to take a PCR or antigen test before flying to Greece from UK if I’m fully vaccinated? Or do I only need to take that test a few days before I fly back to London and also take a day 2 test after arriving back here? Just quite confused with it all really.

Our province opens vaccines to everyone from Monday, I can't wait so maybe a vacation will be more likely. If the US-Canada border finally reopens, I would LOVE to go to New York in Autumn. We did a road trip in Southern California a few years ago and it was brill. Would love to do the East Coast...New York, Connecticut, Massachusets (Boston/Salem), Rhode Island. Would love to go to DC too.
The border is open if you drive lots of influencers in Canada and going to us I think they fly there and drive back from
New York

Has anyone been to Sharm el Sheikh since the ban there was lifted last year (pre covid)? I’m currently booked to go to Dominican Rep. in February but thinking of changing to Sharm in November instead.

If you have been, did you feel safe? I work for an airline so at work we have to be super vigilant on Egypt flights, but I’ve never been there on holiday and that’s the main thing stopping me from changing my holiday at the minute. 😬

No holiday abroad this year waiting for refund from easyJet. Live at the beach in Dorset so having a staycation & camping with some mates up the road in August £200 for 7 nights.

Simon Calder was taking about the traffic light system this morning, you might be able to view it on catch-up. I only had it in as background noise so didn’t take in what he was saying.
thank you very much! I’ll have a look to see if I can find it x
