It's nice when bad behavior has consequences, but everyone putting his projects on hold (or stopping it entirely) feels like cancel culture galore. It doesnt really fit the crime, at least if this is a permanent state.
It absolutely fits with the crime. If you assaulted someone at a work's do you'd expect to lose your job and jeopardise potential future jobs.

Recap:

- (almost) everyone agreed Will's Oscar "performance" 2022 was a total disgrace
- I think pretty much everyone also agrees it was very much real and definitely wasn't "faked for publicity purposes"
- gave lots of love to Chris Rock
- discussed Jada's alopecia and "entanglements" and the weirdness of her relationship with Will
- had a larf at Liam Payne's brand new Welsh / Dutch accent and crazy eyeballs
- cleared Jim Carrey's name

Shocked how many people are defending Will’s actions. He was initially laughing at the joke so it’s not because he was deeply offended

I saw a UK comedian make a good point that if this is okay it’s setting a precedent for anyone to hit a comedian when they don’t like their jokes. It’s a good point

I don’t believe it was staged. I think Will Smith was either on something or is going through some sort of mental crisis because that behaviour was disturbing.

As for there being no consequences, well the Oscar audience gave a standing ovation to Roman Polanski who they all knew had drugged and sodomized a 13 year old child. These are people whose morals are, shall we say, flexible depending on the level of fame of the offender.

Kind of feel like everyone has just lost their minds since covid and lockdowns and stuff in the past couple of years. Everyone seems so angry, full of rage and just “I can do what I want” attitude if you don’t like something.

I saw 2 huge fights in the space of 10 minutes at McDonald’s the other day. One was over a guy refusing to back up to let a woman and her kid in their car out as they were blocked in. In front of the kid he got out and went mental in the window at her. Then 2 separate guys were going at it right next to my car as someone parked on the “hash” markings. it’s just like seriously?! Can you not just back up and let someone out?? You’d rather, get out your car, scream in a woman’s face and bang her car roof? What’s going on in the world that this is becoming the norm and accepted.

I can’t believe people are really thinking that this slap was “deserved”. Really interesting where that line is drawn exactly then?? Honestly I feel like the worlds gone mad 🤪

The same one as you, actually. Depending on what you’d class as an attack I was (if you read what I wrote) referencing people acting like Will beat up Chris on that stage. A slap is an assault and of course not acceptable in any way but some people would or wouldn’t class it as an attack. That’s all I was referring too - not that Will didn’t do anything. 🙄
If there are people that don’t class this as an attack then they have a seriously warped view on violence. This is an attack without doubt

I agree, he should’ve been thrown out & the police called, certainly not given us award.
Clearly thinks he’s above the law. He’s a fool.
Well, he has shown that he is above the law. Not only did he assault someone, he did it in a room full of witnesses (who did nothing) and it was broadcast for millions (assuming people still watch?) to see and it was recorded and has been replayed over and over. To top it all off he was still given his Oscar and applauded?!

I agree with you one hundred percent though, Smith should have been escorted away by security then detained before the police arrived to arrest / charge him. The fact so many are excusing his behaviour is mind boggling. Yes, he's a famous actor but, so what? Famous people should still be held to the same standards as the rest of society, especially when he has broken the law so publicly. If wealthy and or famous people have been allowed to *get away with it* in the past isn't it about time that all stopped?

Now I don't find Chris Rock funny and have enjoyed (some) of Will Smith's films but, I wouldn't be sorry if he never worked again after seeing the videos of him gaily slapping people in the face and without missing a beat carrying on with his press appearance/Oscar night or whatever else he does when he has to encounter other humans who might annoy him. Other people annoy me all the time, I am sure I annoy people too. No slapping occurs (thankfully!)

Maybe she wasn't mentally or emotionally strong enough to handle that joke. And that's why Will stepped in? You sound really bitter BTW.
Have you seen JPS at her red table? That’s not a woman who suffers from a lack of mental or emotional strength.

Anyway that’s kind of irrelevant. Adults shouldn’t deal with hurt feelings by slapping someone. The end.

Two things I don't get: Why did Denzel run to comfort Will, instead of checking on Chris?
And why didn't it occur to the audience not to clap when he won? I guess the shock and the fact that it was televised meant that they all just clapped automatically, but it would have made a great statement if they didn't and it was just silence as he went up to get his trophy.

I think like someone said before, this isn't about the alopecia, this is about his wife's affair(s) & he being made a laughing stock over it, in Hollywood, amongst his peers, like does he really agree with an opened marriage or what Jada suggested & he went along with it..

Those of us that knew/listened to August pre-Jada know he was a different person, he was a lost kid with a drug addict mother he adored but couldn’t help because she didn’t want it, a drug addict stepfather beating the mother who she cared about pleasing more than her own kids and a murdered brother he idolised then he moved in with his friends family and started dressing/acting different and speaking in nonsense ✨spiritual✨ buzzword babble and riddles like she does.

She was an adult who took on a mother figure role he craved and she supposedly wanted to help him but what she actually did is she took him, moulded him, used him for her own sordid satisfaction, then spat him out and left him alone to deal with the pieces when he became emotionally dependent and “in love” with her.

When August spoke out you could tell he was wounded heavily by her.

I can't see why anyone is defending him. A lot of people are saying he was only defending his wife, that's bull.

If Tina Fey had made the joke, would he have slapped her, and if so would all the people defending him still be doing so.

The police say there has been no official complaint, I don't think the police should wait, we all saw what happened. He needs at least a night in jail.

Dickhead says keep my wife's name out of your mouth. He doesn't seem to care that her various body parts have been in more mouths than he has fingers.

I’ve met Tom Holland in my line of work. Someone asked him for an autograph for their son. It wasn’t an inappropriate moment to ask at all. He refused. And he was not warm and friendly for the 8 hours I spent with him. I don’t expect celebs to be “on” all the time but sometimes you just know someone isn’t approachable or friendly famous or not. And he wasn’t that day.
Who do these idiots think they are? If it wasn’t for the general public going to see their films & putting them where they are today they’d still be flipping burgers in McDonald’s! They need to show humility & gratitude for their fans & for the obscene lifestyle they enjoy.
oh & the £140,000 goody bags everyone was given at the Oscars - disgusting.
I hope Will Smith never has a film success again. He needs to be made an example of to educate people that you don’t resort to violence in any situation where you’re not physically trying to defend yourself.

To me, I took the joke as yeah she looks strong and bad ass with her head shaved, she’s strong and fit just like Demi Moore was in the film. GI Jane also put up with beatings and shit from men and took it! Damn I’d love to be compared to her!!!

In fact, I’m actually gutted. My hairs now growing back but I had brain surgery last year and had my head shaved for it… not one person reference GI Jane to me. Can I go round slapping everyone?

The current resignation is just a game plan to garner sympathy and it makes me sick to see all the comments pitying him. The only person I feel sorry for is Chris who was just doing his job. If a comedian is now killed while on stage you can all track it back to this
