WS lost his self control and assaulted a fellow human in front of a room full of people , AND on TV. He gets hugs and applauded? Chris Rock, showed character. He is a comedian. If you can't take a joke, sit way in the back, and don't wear a dress that looks like a downed forest. I'll get my ugly coat and leave now. 
I think it's shocking that The Smiths then went on to the post Oscar parties and a acted like nothing had happened. I also saw lots of people fawning all over them wanting to be attached to the drama in some way. Will Smith was dancing and acting the crazy fool character her is so known for. I don't know, the whole thing just sits badly with me. I think someone said in one post that they would've commended him for taking the mic and telling CR the joke was inappropriate and to apologise - I agree - calling someone out is completely different to trying to knock someone out for their behaviour!!
This. He should have been escorted out, but instead was 'comforted' by his fellow multimillionaire to make sure he was OK.
Pity Chris Rock isn't filing charges.
Would like to think that's the end of Smith's career but he makes too much money for Hollywood unfortunately.
He will forever be remembered as the guy who assaulted someone live on stage in front of a Worldwide audience. And got away with it.

This is the Ellen show interview with Oscar’s presenter Wanda Sykes saying how sickened she was by Will Smith and the academy for not kicking him out. And the fact that Chris actually apologised to Wanda afterwards, when that scumbag Smith never really apologised to anyone speaks volumes.

Wow I have a lot of respect for Chris after watching that and the way he handles things. I think the way he’s handled the Oscars slap was exemplary. Also he’s been very dignified at his stand up show on Wednesday, I think he’s really still in shock and traumatised by it, which of course is understandable. I think he’s gonna gain a new found respect out of all this.

I see a lot of people saying he should have done this but I think that would have been so nauseating tbh! He should have just taken the joke in the harmless spirit it was meant and not been such a baby and a bully whingebag. If he REALLY must have said something, then at the end of his acceptance speech he could have done a shout out to Jada and addressed his issue with the joke there. I don’t think going up to the mic and taking it from Chris to give a pathetic and nauseating lecture while stealing the limelight would have gone down well either. He should have just copped on and not been such a big fanny over a stupid joke

He’s only apologising because his Oscar might be I jeopardy. He didn’t seem to sorry when he was bopping about and rapping to his own songs at the after party. He is a disgrace and he should be so deeply ashamed and embarrassed that the night went this way, and mortified that he has completely overshadowed a night that comes once in a lifetime to a lot of people who worked so hard to be there that night. Arrogant prick of a man.
There are ways to do that without being violent!

It's unbelievable! There is no ambiguity, we witnessed an assault over a trivial joke, I know, I know, people will say alopecia is not something to joke about, its incredibly traumatic for those with the condition but that's not even what happened. Will Smith lost the run of himself when he'd initially been laughing like a drain, what happened in those few seconds when the camera focused on Rock?

True racism is abhorrent and should be deplored by anyone with an ounce of decency in them. And that should go both ways - black & white/ white & black.
We've made so much progress over the last few decades but this last year or two, it seems the word 'racist' is the word to bandy about to get a 'them versus us' situation. I wish it would stop and I wish we could see people as just people, and judge them for their character, instead of for what damned colour they are!
Chris handled himself with diginity after the attack. he was there doing his job, the oscars first concern should have been their host. I’m sure he has the support of his fellow comedians and i hope people speak up for him…
i’ve mentioned it in another post but where do we now draw the line? Do the trans community have the right to slap dave chapelle? Can leo dicaprio get up and slap gervais next time be takes a dig at his like for younger girls!? can trump thump the next person who cracks a joke!?

I've not seen the photo, I'm glad I've not. I feel really sorry for Chris, especially as no one appeared to support him. I think they all rushed over to Will because he's the big star. I think if it had been the other way round and Chris had not Will, they'd all have rushed over to Will and Chris would have been removed from the event. I hope Chris Rock manages to make some money out of all of this.

Had this been a white comedian that Will punched, his career would be over but as it feeds into the black on black crime and aggressive black people narrative, nobody of importance actual cares. I personally feel that Will should’ve been removed immediately and his Oscar revoked. I wish that Chris pressed charges!
