He has just made himself look like he needs anger management lessons. He's also done Chris Rock a favour by making him the victim of the story. If Will had just got up and left with Jada after that joke, Chris probably would've been cancelled.

Fair enough, he was offended for Jada but he had options like speaking to Chris Rock afterwards or leaving.

I was discussing this with a friend who is/was a massive will smith fan

he is shocked because as he put it, anyone else you’d be like ok.. but will smith is known as comedic actor, he spent years on fresh prince cracking fat jokes and bald at the expense of uncle phil. Yes it was scripted and probably ok’d by him but it was an ‘act’, chris was doing his ‘act’.. thats his role..

What do you think would have happened if a white actor had slapped a black presenter? Or a white actor slapped a white presenter? Or, as you say, a black actor slapped a white presenter. The exact same I suspect as happened with Will Smith. I think it’s wrong to make this about race. It’s about Hollywood privilege pure and simple where, regardless of colour and any combination thereof or regardless of class you get away with stuff ordinary people wouldn’t if you’re rich & famous enough.

I had a run in with a black American will Smith fan on twitter the other day. The reason I mention his race is because he said whites should mind their own business and it's just racist to criticise smith
I said did he realise Chris Rock was black. He said why would you ask such a silly question. I said well you don't seem to have much compassion for him so I assumed you didn't realise he was also black.

I also ended the exchange by saying of course it's everyone's bloody business when ge assaulted someone on live television

What on earth possessed Will to casually walk up to Chris Rock at the Oscars LIVE on tv, the absolute pinnacle Award ceremony which is basically filled with the union members of your profession…….. and decide to hit the host.

Its mind bogglingly bizarre. Even now I’m struggling to get my head around it - will Smith definitely has to have 'issues'. There’s just no getting round the lack of self awareness and control

He looked like a pu*sy to the world, sitting there listening to his wife confess on a talk show to having sex with a son’s friend, so he had to show he is a ‘big man’. It had NOTHING to do with his wife’s honour.

katie Holmes’ father is a top attorney in Ohio, specialising in marital law.

the only way Katie was able to get out was through the support of her father and the fact they were clever enough to do it in secrecy and blindside Tom. He admitted he didn’t see it coming, which a lot of people he metahohorically but I think in Tom’s case it was very literal.

To honest, whatever type of alopecia it is, this still does not excuse Will Smith’s behaviour and act of violence. If he was that angry with the comment made ( which is debatable anyway ) he still could have shouted abuse at Chris. I am not saying that behaviour is right, but more understandable than violence.
Will and Jada have clearly showed us all what vile people they are. If they had an ounce of decency, remorse or embarrassment, they wouldn’t have partied afterwards. They should have just scurried on home and lay low.

I think watching this she thought it was a staged skit until Will started shouting profanities. As much as I dislike her I don’t think this was a laugh of enjoyment I think she laughed the same as the rest of the crowd thinking can’t be real. It has given me goose pimples watching from a new angle it really was dreadful to see. Will has lost it.

As said above I think it’s very likely this was due to cocaine and alcohol and just generally being mentally unwell. Wonder if he’ll go into some kind of rehab to salvage career. But you can’t cure dickhead.

He will be sitting down with a bunch of very expensive lawyers as we speak, and their main objective for him will be “ damage limitation “ now.
ie. Get in there before anyone else does, to save face.…Jump before you are pushed.
So, as he was told he would probably get kicked out of the academy, he decided to leave ( so it looks like it was his choice ).
He is probably also aware that they won’t take away his Oscar. But, if I was him, I would hand it back anyway to save face ( as it doesn’t really stand for anything now ).
He will probably go to rehab, and then come out and do a one to one with Oprah.
He will be tearful, apologetic, blame his upbringing blah blah blah, but it wont wash. We all know the real WS and how he acted on the night after the slap.
He will probably lie low for a while, before finally coming back with a movie at some stage.
I hope his career is over tbh, but I bet it won’t be.
