The woman at the end of this clip with the cropped hair and green dress coming out of the Oscars, she has an interesting comment, she doesn't refer to the alopecia but to how in the US GI Jane was what they called butch lesbian girls when it first came out and she thought that was why Will took offence.
that’s Tiffany haddish who was in girls trip with jada, she is a family friend of theirs. Her comments were ridiculous, in no space did chris rock for one minute even think of that aspect to the joke towards jada.

gi Jane is literally the hottest women with a skinhead in history. She was also bad ass, even rock said it was a nice joke. He didn’t mean it to be malicious or nasty and apparently wasn’t aware of her medical struggles. He’s also a comedian and they are always going to be below the belt.
To be fair, I don't think the guests were applauding & laughing at someone being physically assaulted on stage, it's not like Will slapped him & they all got up & said 'bravo, again again'. 🙄
i have seen enough reactions from celebs who think he was right to do it. They were also roaring with laughter at points. Then during the acceptance speech he got a standing ovation and many were in tears as he spoke in god complex. A vessel of love and the whole Satan thing, It’s just such bizarre behaviour, all of it :ROFLMAO: and one thing for sure chris rock looked embaressed and humiliated, probably more that than the slap. 10 out of 10 for his professionalism.

CR looks so deflated ☹ Understandably
this also makes me feel incredibly sad for the group accepting their oscar at that moment - i think it was best documentary? i recognise questlove in any case. their big moment got absolutely stomped over.

Will Smith behaved in such a disgusting manner. The slap and subsequent shouting was just mind boggling to me. Chris Rock was clearly shocked which showed in his lack of reaction. Will has tarnished himself but even worse the whole 2022 Oscars.

Did anybody else find his smirk and the way he screamed at Chris Rick even more unsettling than the slap? Like you can just imagine him screaming like that at home behind closed doors.

Imagine if a celebrity here got up and slapped someone on one of our award shows. I doubt we'd take the same approach and say aww they've had a tough upbringing, his wife's a handful though etc. I don't think we'd carry on filming or console the slapper whilst the victim just stood there. I really can't imagine all this healing and journey talk 🙄 over here it's just not the British mentality is it.

So they went out partying at the Vanity Fair party with the others after this. It's bad enough the Smiths thought it cool to pretend it never happened and celebrate his win, but those who joined in with them. Wow, a lot of moral compasses are busted aren't they?

I loved Will growning up he was a huge part of my childhood. Summertime is one of my favourite songs proper nostalgic. But as time has gone on I’ve heard lots of stories about him and he’s definitely not a nice guy. What stuck out for me was the row he had with the woman who first played his Aunt in fresh Prince - he effectively ended her career in show business. Told everyone she was aggressive and hard to work with. Imagine as a black woman trying to make it in that industry and Will Smith bad mouths you that way?
Ive also heard rumours around his sexuality- common knowledge in Hollywood social circles apparently. So Jada cops loads of flack for ‘cheating’ but is it just a PR stunt to take the heat off him? I dunno it’s odd how open she is about their relationship on a podcast. Maybe it’s all getting on top of him (not that it excuses violence)

I don't have the first source for you but I have heard from various places that she does indeed suffer from traction alopecia and chooses to shave her head rather than make the condition worse.
Okay, I'm gonna be frank and say that I'm not convinced about Jada's alopecia.

When you look.at Gail Porter and Matt Lucas, they have no hair line, no eyebrows etc.

Now I know that every case will be different, but Jada has a quite obvious hairline which doesn't smack of the classic bald patches associated with alopecia.

So there's something not quite right.

Maybe she wasn't mentally or emotionally strong enough to handle that joke. And that's why Will stepped in? You sound really bitter BTW.
And you sound really odd because you are talking like you know them personally, plus you think its good he used violence as a way to defend her. So i really dont think you are in any position to take any type of high ground.

Didn't Jarvis Cocker do a moonie on stage when (the sainted kiddie fiddler) mj get his brit award? 😬🤣 And as for Ricky Gervais and his Golden Globes hosting, I bow down to his genius. All these celebs minor or Hollywood elites should be placed on mars to just get on with it. Will Smith is a huge disgrace and Jada has joined the holy trinity of 'plus ones' alongside AE, AH and MM if this is the true face of modern feminism, I'll eat my old copy of The female eunuch. I refuse to class Chris Rock as a victim, as Hollyweird is full of 'victims' but as the great comedian that he is, he showed us what a top class bloke that he is by his reaction to that girlish slap... Chris Rock was the bigger man 👏👏👏 As for ws withdrawal from the academy is all smoke and mirrors 🐍

Regardless, I love that Will stuck up for his wife! I don't see enough of that.
I mean, he clearly only did so when he saw how pissed his wife was. Given he was initially laughing. So basically he had to be told to stick up for his wife and then 30 seconds later he does so in the most embarrassing way possible. Tarnishing the biggest night of his life. Quite glad we don't see more of this tbh (expect for the LOL factor as this has been great fun)

He's got some brass neck. I can't believe the way he's been carrying on at the after party after he's just assaulted someone on live television. Not to mention his son's tweet - "That's how we do it".

Lovely.

Well said 🙌
The weird mix is that even though WS actions have brought embarrassment to the black community, Chris Rock has made the black community proud with his exemplary behaviour in all this.
I still don’t quite understand why these days one person has to be seen as representing an entire group of people just because they share a skin colour. Or a gender. Or a sexuality. Or whatever. Nobody represents me except me, except maybe for my kids if they get into trouble, but then that’s directly on me and I can at least try to correct that by yelling at them 😊

I just thought WS was acting like a total arse, that he is not a contented and stable person within himself and I didn’t for one second think that it said anything about black people more generally.

I'm just going to put this out there. They are Scientologists and Scientologists absolutely believe that if someone says mean things about you, they weaken your Thetanny goodness or some shit.

Btw it wasn't a punch it was an open handed slap more suited to a 12 year old girl in the playground than a knight in shining armor defending his lady's honour. Just sayin'.

I hadn’t read that article before but it sort of confirms what I’ve always thought tbf.
He’s always had ‘Tom Cruise’ vibes about him. That ‘Dead behind the eyes’ smile.
And Will has admitted in his memoir that he was obsessed with Tom Cruise when Will’s films first started to become hits. Tom was the biggest star on the planet at the time and Will became obsessed with wanting to be perceived as being better and “nicer” than him. He literally studied how Tom treated his fans and started to copy him, signing autographs for hours and staying back after premiers to chat to fans, all in the name of self image! He is an ego maniac. What they both have in common is they are both fake as fuck and obsessed with being seen as the opposite

I did ponder this. But also. Someone’s should have told him to go home after the awards. Instead of him being filmed singing away to his own song. Like eek.
I think how he acted afterwards has damaged him more than the slap has tbh. Like bopping away to your own tunes when you should be at home hanging your head in shame is mortifying. It has harmed him so much and he will never live that down.

I'm really shocked by Wills Smith's behaviour. Not acceptable. I like to think I am up on celebrity gossip and didn't know JPS had alopecia (I have no interest in watching their red table series). I know quite a few black celebrities have the condition due to wearing weaves etc, I think Naomi Campbell has the same.

I've watched the video a couple of times and WS was laughing initially but JPS had a face of thunder. I understand being sensitive about hair loss but these things will get commented on at public events. As WS was nominated of course focus was going to be on him and JPS and what they were wearing etc. Perhaps they should remember the old mantra about sticks and stones

WS had no right to do what he did and should have been charged for assault. I don't think this was scripted and if it was it was in terrible taste.
That's tame compared to say "The Kardashians" who are REAL narcissists
really?
I was thinking about Jada’s “Talk show”. She basically has someone film her family talk about their problems whilst sitting around the table in their home and then posts it online. I mean WTAF, that is a whole new level of hubris and ego thinking people are that interested in your life. But then expecting because you post videos on a social media site that everyone knows your issues. How fucking egotistical is she? It’s not exactly a globally syndicated talk show. Does she not get people have a lot going on in their lives?

I’m seriously blown away by both of their arrogance and egotism. Let’s face it Jada, being the butt of the joke is the only way you’ll get mentioned at the Oscar’s because your acting is shit.

Chris Rock done a whole documentary about women's hair, and the psychological effects of wanting 'good hair', but is happy to make fun of Jada for her hair. Okay then! I guess he'll do or say anything for money.
He's a comedian. That is literally the definition of his job.

EDIT: I'm not a fan of either of them I didn't think the joke was either funny or original. Nor even delivered very well. But he's a comedian and he gets paid to say things he neither means nor believes in what he hopes is a witty manner and a lot of people must laugh at him because he's rich as fuck from doing it.

If no comic can ever say anything that might offend anyone what are we to have jokes about - vanilla ice cream? Oh no that excludes the lactose intolerant people.
