Gonna have to disagree.
Maybe Chris will be a bit more careful next time :) apparently he has been at it with for years.
There is no excuse for violence. Ultimately Smith will be far more damaged by this than Rock. And rightly so. Smith could easily have dealt with it by making a comment about it in his acceptance speech ( he knew he was going to win) or to the press afterwards. Physical assault is totally out of order and would be an arrest-able offence if Smith weren’t famous.

Stephen Fry offends me a lot as it goes. If it’s not his jailbait husband, it’s his nasty sly comments about women.
I was at a private reception many years ago where Fry was the slob speaker, & his attitude & ‘jokes’ about women & his mother were unpleasant to disconcerting nasty. I found his speech to be a bone chilling reminder that some men just do not like women. Already alerted, over the years I’ve seen his fundamental nastiness oozes out in plain sight for all to see.

Sorry for typo, it should have been ‘sleb’ speaker.
I’ll keep it there as a Frydian slip.

The amount of people trying to justify Will Smith's behaviour is mind-boggling.

Jada has alopecia, not cancer. The joke was not out of line, it was barely a joke at all.
Chris is a comedian- this is what they do!
Jada says she's a strong woman and nothing can tear her down, apart from one lame joke apparently.
Will was laughing at the joke and only reacted when he noticed Jada wanted a different response.
Will physically assaulted Chris. This was a quip, easily laughed off, not to be escalated. His response was not okay. Violence and aggression are not okay.
Will doubled down and screamed/ verbally assaulted Chris even when he knew his response was out of line- he saw everyone's horrified faces and still chose to double down.
Will then said he was doing god's work and was a vessel of love. That's an interesting way to show love. He didn't even have the decency to apologize to Chris when he was on stage.

He was immature and short tempered. It was a terrible choice. He should be ashamed.
I'm not 'defending' him. What he did was extremely unprofessional. I don't think you can really minimise the medical condition though. Just because someone is not dying doesn't mean they are ok. My niece had alopecia for several years and I know it's something she struggled with a lot mentally, despite it not actually being visible. We discovered a patch missing at the bottom of her hair when she was 10.

I think he's had a go at Jada before. When she boycotted the Oscars one year for being too white he apparently said she hadn't been invited. I'd say jada hates CR privately and this was the icing on the cake.

How long do we think it will be before Chris Rock is invited to the red table? A sit down with herself and Will (and probably her mother and Willow randomly) to discuss the importance of 'kindness, respect, awareness' etc, also how alopecia affects people and how as black artists in Hollywood they should stand united etc etc etc...

Jada is LOVING all of this drama.

Of course he'd get in trouble if he wasn't Will Smith. That's the privilege top celebs always have. Chris knew it was a sensitive subject for Will, and Will snapped. No, I don't think her should have hit him but definitely speaking up for Jada would be the right thing. But I just don't believe Chris is so innocent.
Anyway, it is shocking because Will is usually really calm, so that must have been a massive trigger for him.
This clearly isn't the case. In the footage Will is cracking up and Jada is giving him daggers. The bloke was just panicking about what was coming for him later from HER in my opinion. I don't think he was initally even that angry with Chris - you wouldn't laugh if it was such a 'sensitive subject'. Their relationship is so weird.

Think this could end up like the Prince Andrew interview, absolute car crash
I think that’s the reason Jada is taking the reigns. He’ll know the questions before they’re asked, they’ll have rehearsed it a hundred times and they’ll be in charge of the editing etc. It’ll be a self indulgent bore fest with plenty of crocodile tears and and faux soul searching 🤮

My mother the narcissist is always happiest when somebody (not her) is crying or when she’s in the middle of passing judgment on someone. I’m sure Jada is exactly the same.

Sorry but this is highly amusing and I can’t stop watching it. I’ll have what you’re having pal 🤣

I saw that this morning and had no idea who it was, I thought it was a famous actor until a comment said Liam Payne. His whole face has changed and his eyes are wild.

Wtf was he talking about when he was talking about the three losers in one fight…….
'he didn’t know, being Chris rock
he didn’t know what he had to do, being Will Smith
And she did nothing, being Jada'

honestly, I’ve never heard such jibberish. Can anyone decipher that?

Just imagine if it was a woman he hit. He would have been dragged off and everyone would be demanding he be held accountable. But hit a man and you get a standing ovation. Disgusting. Talk about the entitled few.

The classiest thing he could have done was take it, wait for his acceptance speech (they’re always told they’ve won it beforehand) and called him out onstage. He could have given a measured response and owned him, instead of being aggressive and violent.

He should have been removed from the ceremony there and then. Imagine if races or genders had been different, there would have been a massive backlash and yet Smith is somehow protected by the media.

Read into this and it is actually a thing..if he didn’t slap Chris then jada would’ve slapped him..he could also have been slapped by someone of a higher ranking..eg Tom Cruise 🤣 the whole Scientology thing is nuts but would actually explain why they didn’t stop him or send in security as they all know the rules because half of Hollywood are involved in this cult!
As if that would happen! Tom Cruise wouldn't be able to reach that far.

Will smith is disgusting. Should have been escorted from the event. How’s The ego on him too, chris rock probably has no idea about Jadas medical issues. The fact that he went into win too, what a joke.
There is no medical issue, if she has alopecia, she would have bald spots on her head, and she doesn't. I heard her say on Red Table Talk she shaved her head because she was tired of having thinning hair caused by MENOPAUSE!! Why was Will Smith laughing like a hyena when Chris Rock told the joke??? Will Smith has anger issues, hopefully Chris will sue him for a billion dollars!!!

Most of these nice guy images are carefully cultivated. Tom Hanks is another one who always gets lauded but I get weird vibes from him as well. I honestly think the only decent guy in Hollywood is Keanu ❤
Tom Hanks tries to act like he's Mr Goody Good. He and Rita had an affair while Hanks sick wife was at home with 2 small children. He divorced his ill wife (who later died) and married Rita only to cheat on her. Hanks had a long term open affair with a much younger woman, he paraded her around Hollywood as if she, not Rita was his wife, and no one blinked an eye. Half of the Hollywood celebrities you wouldn’t want to be in a room with, they are so screwed up. 🙄

I am really shocked by the amount of people defending Will Smith over this on the internet.
I have had to have conversations with my kids about how 'slapping someone' is no way to deal with things & then listen to jokes all day at work about giving people slaps....
It's done little to raise awareness of alopecia, lots to belittle physical assault & made Hollywood people look like total arseholes!

Regardless, I love that Will stuck up for his wife publicly. I don't see enough of that.
I would have been mortified if that was my husband. Hitting someone who you know either can’t or won’t hit back is weak af. Also, what’s with the slapping? Was Smith channelling a 6 year old school girl?

Just cancelled my Vanity Fair subscription!

I’m sure Katie is just as happy not to have Tom in her child’s life.

Zoe Kravitz’ post was insightful. “At the award show where we are apparently assaulting people on stage now”. There will be a lot of celebs left reeling from this and understandably pissed off at how lax security was.
For sure, but I was saying it was sad for Suri to no longer have her father in her life.
I’m pleased Zoe and Jim Carey have spoken out for Chris, the silence and arse licking of the Smiths from the rest of Hollywood is revolting. Apparently Sacha Baron Cohen and Woody Harrelson were also consoling Chris later on that evening at Guy Osearys house.

So being slapped doesn't hurt? It sounds like it's never happened to you.
Right!! The vast majority of the people attempting to downplay or normalise Smith’s behaviour would absolutely call the police if someone slapped them on the face and behaved aggressively towards them in their workplace.
