It's irritating me about people saying Ruby's life is so dull is that haven't they heard it is still lockdown in the UK if you didn't know ! WTF do you expect her to do ? We can't go partying, everywhere is shut and people have to entertain themselves at home and exercise and that's it. I do wonder what planet you people are on...oh let me guess planet America possibly !?

The other thing that pisses me off is people insisting she has to wear clothes they think are 'normal'. Why should she wear things you like, she can wear what she wants. At least she wears something different not just leggings and trainers and the boring shit you lot think she should wear.

3rd thing is the self righteous who say she should get a 'corporate' job like theirs. WTF should she, she has an internship, it's lockdown and she's a university student. I mean please GET REAL about what it is possible to do in the UK at the moment !

There's interesting critique of her channel, her possible ED which I think is a real possibility. Yes she minimises her body in photographs and shows ridiculous 'meals' that aren't even adequate and always takes her hairband out in the field so she can twirl her hair around which is very unspontaneous and all that.

But people saying her life is dull ? It's more than many people have here now, she has family, she has countryside and dogs, she has her work and her youtube it's really not dull in comparison to many people's lives here in lockdown !

And who are you to say what 20 year olds 'should' be interested in ? People aren't just ages they are individuals. It's like you think there's this rigid plan for a 20 year old that has to involve what you think it should involve. That's totally repressive IMO.
damn girl, they really hit a nerve, huh? You might wanna join the rave thread 😂 And last time I checked, this was a primarily UK site, so why the fuck are you coming for the Americans specifically?

RIP to this person's English :

I love that she is getting called out by people more educated than her:

And Roooob does not explain clearly.

You can see all het fans are still kids/teens. She polishes her bullshit, and people love it. But older people and those with actual critical thinking skills that were taught at uni can see the bullshit. It makes me so made that she is using her platform in this way.

😬 Seems she doesn't send out replacements of her products when she says she does either... if you're so checked out from your business, there really is no shame in closing it. I have noticed her comments on tiktok becoming more sceptical of her recently.

New video is up! Oxford trip with Mother Granger and Daddy Bones, although she does her best to make it look like she went all by herself, to the point of showing her mum what she got when they get back, as if she wasn’t there all along holding Roobee’s hand the whole time in case the flashbacks from her Oxford rejection hit her unawares 😂 Letter-writing, buying gifts for viewers because she totally is a kind and generous person who will randomly surprise you with a gift instead of shipping your planner on time in the first place 😂 Also, she finally started working on her essay on Tuesday (or some other day of the week, because who tf knows with all the outfit changes). Also also, ”lol I literally changed outfits twice within an hour” what could she be doing that makes it necessary for her to (supposedly) change outfits this many times per day? Does she just drool a whole lot? Does she randomly have explosive diarrhea all up her back? What gives?

No, Ruby. BAD RUBY.

Ruby claims to have been JANuinely hard at work, getting SYO much done on her dissertation. She's been on time-wasting manuscript-hunting adventures, she's managed to somehow harnessed the power to control time itself and used it to outline, draft, reference and research an entire 10,000 word dissertation in one hour.

But instead of giving us a new Dissertation Diary video so we can witness the lies and madness for ourselves, she's made another toxic productivity list video offering up '35 "Productive" Study Break Ideas'. Sponsored and paid for by a service Ruby never uses, of course.

Untitled7899875469546487.jpg

Ruby's vacant, gormless intro face says it all. She's going through the motions and is on autopilot, because she's made a variation of this video several times before. She's not high on life, she's high on Manilife, and since she only allows herself a quarter-teaspoon of that a day, she clearly barely has the energy to stay awake for this video. But I eat substantial meals and even I'm mentally checked out on this one.

Untitled7899875469546567487.jpg

We're "treated" to a lazy montage of recycled footage of Ruby scribbling in notebooks and doing uncoordinated backyard yoga like she's mid-exorcism, fighting to keep the demons occupying her body from leaving so that she'll have someone to talk to after Blakeney runs for the hills at graduation.

Ruby shows herself learning some new antiquated words to misuse affectatiously in everyday conversation, in an attempt to make people think she's smarter than she is. Since Ruby struggles to say even the most basic words without consistently fucking them up, this is a bit of a 'learning to fly before she can crawl' situation.

Case in point:

Unti8009.jpg

Malnutrition has her hairline in full retreat, or it's possibly just trying to remove itself from any association with Ruby's face when she says things like:

"[AWKWARD GASP]--Syo OF COURSE breaks areee important forrr reFRASHing and refYOOLNYing us..."

"...refYOOLNYing..."

Yes, she absolutely says "refyoolnying" instead of "refueling".

Ruby, this is your most recent reminder that the body requires nutrients for the brain to function.

This video is also sponsored by something called Babbel, a language-learning app, which is fitting since babbling is all Ruby does and she desperately needs to learn the English language.

Unti800-9099.jpg

Miss "I don't dyoo art" whips out her art supplies to illustrate a story about something. Despite making another weird 'I'm not like everyone else!' proclamation in her gift guide video that she never does art and has no art supplies, she's used these more often in the past few months than she has read books to completion. Not that that'd be a challenge, since she's read exactly one book, max, but still.

In another display of sheer mindless stupidity, Ruby tells a story about a woodcutter who would've gotten more done more quickly if only he'd taken a break to sharpen his axe. It's a fitting analogy in theory. The message Ruby should be giving is to take a break to recharge your brain and your brain will work better. But Ruby misses the point entirely by insisting that they need to be "productive" breaks. Always be using you brain or your brain won't work when you need it, apparently!

Unti80-989.jpg

She inserts the half-assed 'intro' she sporadically uses in completely unrelated videos, and it comes far too late to be an intro, so it just feels like another filler montage to kill time.

It also features footage from several months ago of Ruby wearing white jeans, even though she NAVVAR WAAHRS JEAANS, so this must be some kind of high-tech deepfake copy of Ruby! This is what happens when you forget to switch NORD V.P. ANNE on in cafés: Hackers will steal your likeness and make it look like you've been wearing jeans for years like some filthy commoner!

faint-fainting.gif

Unti8068575-989.jpg

Using one of her "productive" study breaks to learn post-production techniques or the basic ability to put title card in videos was too much effort for Ruby, so she just sloppily scribbles all over a New Yorker back issue again.

Just...no. This is already some dangerously stupid, toxic productivity bullshit even before she's gone through the list titles. No, you should not be filling a "study break" with more studying.

Unt09889.jpg

The first entry - movement - is a good, obvious one. Taking regular breaks to have a walk around, stretch and generally get even a little exercise as a reprieve from sitting in a chair all day.

Naturally, Ruby only included this section to show lots of footage from months/years ago of herself doing dangerously uncoordinated "yoga" and to cite studies that she found in a cursory Google search and neither read nor understood in an effort to make herself seem smarter and capable of research.

Unti80680=-989.jpg

To show that she has no clue what these studies means, Ruby talks about the volume of a "hippoclampus", even as the on-screen text shows the correct word: "Hippocampus." She also mentions the "ammick-dah-lah". You'd be forgiven for wondering what the fuck she's on about until the on-screen Google text shows she's trying to say "amygdala". Say it with me, Ruby: "a-mig-duh-la."

Ruby, this is your most recent reminder that the body requires nutrients for the brain to function.

1. Yoga.

Ruby claims she got into yoga this year and absolutely loves it. This despite showing footage of herself from at least a year ago doing yoga in this very video. This despite months and years of bad yoga montages cluttering her videos.

The barrier between her malnourished, shrivelled brain and her mouth has completely eroded, and the nonsensical lies flow freely and unchecked.

Again, this section is just endless, recycled bodychecking footage.

2. Meditation.

Meditation can be very beneficial and relaxing. It's not inherently movement-based, though, so Ruby's fucking things up already by including this in the 'movement' section.

Unt0979889.jpg

Ruby shows a montage of herself breathing, and because everything's a big fucking performance with her, she turns even breathing
into a big over-the-top rehearsed display, inhaling and exhaling deeper and more dramatically than AVVERYONE ELSE.

Unt0979886669.jpg

She continues showing on-screen scribbles in lieu of actual title cards and on-screen text. It's completely out of focus. Ruby does not wait for the camera to focus, check the footage or get a second take. This is as good as it gets, and the most effort she's prepared to exert in this sponsored, professional video that she was paid money to make and has monetised because she believes she should be further rewarded with money for this half-assed shit.

Put your adblockers on if watching Ruby's content, people. Do not reward this crap.

3. STRATCHing Stretching.

Ruby shouts that she always feels "SYO GOOD" after "STRATCHING" and yoga flow classes. She claims she always feels "SYO ANNERGIZED" since "it's JANuinely just good fun and does NOT feel like exercise". She usually only says something is "SYO GOOD" when she's shilling a product she dislikes in a blatantly undeclared ad, so she clearly doesn't enjoy this either. She narrates this section through an audibly forced smile with that rehearsed, performative smiling narration that makes he seem like she's recording it from a padded cell, gazing at imaginary purple walruses.

She does not clarify why this and yoga are two separate entries, other than she wanted another flimsy excuse to recycle even more bodychecking footage of her trying to wreck her body with dangerously uncoordinated yoga seizures. Naturally, she just does exactly that.

4. Other Sports.

Unt0979886669089.jpg

"Of course, you could dyoo some other koind of exercise, loike go for a RON, go for a coiycle, go swimming..."

Ruby shows herself doing none of those things.

She recycles that footage of herself doing indoor rock climbing for the hundredth time, and also shows an old shot that's 98% sky and a sliver of screen real estate showing her playing backyard tennis.

Unt09798866698-99.jpg

The ominous clouds overhead represent the impending doom of her dissertation, while her flailing around by herself accomplishing nothing represents her flailing around by herself accomplishing nothing.

5. Walking.

Unt097989809.jpg

And the final entry in the 'movement' section: Go for a walk.

"Syooo Nietzsche claims THAT walkinggg makes yooo more creati--[AWKWARD CUT]"

Ruby claims that she can personally "TASSTIFY" that walking every day is "JOST FON and will make yoo feel AMAZING and JUSTONEOFMY...like...THE BAST THINGS TYOO DYOO...BOT it can also help CREATIVITEEE".

If anything, she personally disproves this theory, since even after walking once a day, she can't even summon the creative energy to properly speak and edit one complete sentence or give this slapdash shit even a second glance before crapping it out onto YouTube for money. Her videos are an assembly line of recycled garbage, she can't stay on top of her uni work, she can't motivate herself to stay invested or involved in even the most low-effort side projects and can't form coherent thoughts.

Of course, the major component that she doesn't mention is that she also never eats, but we'll get to that.

6. Go Outside.

The first entry in the 'health' section is to go outside.

Again, why this is its own section since you won't be doing a whole lot of walking indoors is a mystery that Ruby never solves. We can crack the case quite easily, though: It's padding for a pointless list, and the more entries on it, the higher the number and the bigger that hollow feeling of success Ruby will feel.

This is no simple Top 10 list! There's 35! Far more than other people, because Ruby's SPASHUL! Y'know, even though you could boil this shit down to like four or five entries after removing the filler and all her toxic productivity nonsense.

Unt0979890-9-09.jpg

Find someone who looks at you the way Ruby looks at this tree she's hugging, which several dogs urinated on that very day.

It's important that we all go outside to breathe in the "FRASH AIRE" in the endless fields and greenery-covered grounds of our manor estates that we all definitely have. Hug a tree. Smell a flower. It will help reduce "STRASS".

Ruby is such a stranger to what actual stress feels and looks like that she, again, turns this into a dramatic performance:

Unt09709.jpg

If this footage looks familiar, it's because it's just reused footage from the last video where Ruby was pretending to be nervous that she might not get a First for her "ASSAY". It isn't any more convincing a second time and shows just how performative and rehearsed her whole YouTube persona is.

7. Drink Tea.

Ruby claims this is essential, and cites Douglas Adams' 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' to prove it:

Unt09770709.jpg

Again, Ruby's applying her lazy essay-writing approach to this video to give the illusion that it is an informed and informative educational experience. It's not. Ruby has clearly just been doing a cursory Google search for quotes and studies related to her topic and grabbing the first she finds.

Here, it's a book she hasn't read. A science-fiction comedy. This book also encourages carrying a towel with you at all times, that doesn't make it essential life advice.

8. Drink Water.

"Drink LYOADS of WAHR-TUH and fill up yoour WAHHR-TUHH BOTTUWWWH," Ruby says, recycling footage of her chugging a load of water to suppress her appetite.

Water's great. But water alone ain't gonna do shit for your body and mind, and Ruby's proof of that.

I mean, here she mentions that we AWHLL know that "water is VARRY GUD FOR CONCENTRASHUNN and...JAN-ERAL...BAY--UHH...COGNATIVE FUNCTION."

rhony-leah.gif

9. Get a Snack.

Naturally, Ruby kicks this off with an undeclared ad for a gifted snack bar.

Unt0977078098009.jpg

This is Ruby's "messy" snack box. Note that the Perkier bar box has been carefully positioned so that it is face up, logo on display, unobscured by anything else.

Reminder: This is an undeclared ad for a gifted product.

Ruby gets boxes of these sent to her for free in exchange for advertising them. She should be declaring this relationship, because it colours her opinion of this product. She isn't declaring it, and hasn't done for numerous videos, because she's a compulsive liar in all things. She cannot and will not stop lying, especially when there's money involved.

This should lead you to be suspicious of every single product that Ruby features in her videos, because if she's lying by omission with this, then it's a safe assumption that any product shown or mentioned pointedly on-screen in her video is an undeclared ad. And if her default response to anything is to lie about it, then her opinion about all the products she features is almost exclusively bullshit, too, especially considering everything she's gifted is always "SYO GOOD".

Hoarding snacks in a hamper is some 'child at boarding school' shit, continuing Ruby's obsession with pretending to be a child at boarding school. Ruby's an adult who shares a house with another adult who's not likely to just go stealing all Ruby's gifted produce which tastes like wet gravel.

Unt0977090809809.jpg

Ruby warns that she's planning on making a video featuring her top study snacks "syoon", so look forward to a 15-20 minute montage of gifted, undeclared snack bars. This despite people asking her in droves multiple times to stop posting food content and encouraging unhealthy eating practices.

Which brings us to the main problem of this video and Ruby's content in general: She at no point encourages healthy eating, or eating more than a snack bar. It's a retread of her "study essentials" video, where she stressed that students should fill up on tonnes of water and eat "just dry snacks".

It's indescribably dangerous, and intensely irresponsible, and if Ruby had even the slightest capacity to feel shame or guilt, she'd stop this shit. But she won't. Even after countless reminders over months and months, Ruby continues to push her dangerously unhealthy eating habits onto an audience that includes young, impressionable and vulnerable people who see her as a role model and someone to emulate. That she's knowingly still doing this is absolutely sickening.

More than the constant lies and the undeclared ads and getting paid to make the most half-assed, disingenuous trash, this is the shit that really makes me sick, because this is the kind of thing that will cause real damage. And Ruby refuses to stop, despite knowing that it impacts other people. So if you find yourself feeling any sympathy for Ruby because of how hard her life might be, or what she might be going through, remember that she knows better and still actively chooses to do things that actively damage other people while preaching from a platform of supposed "kindness". She's a terrible person.

10. Open a Window, Look at Faraway Things.

Make sure to take exactly one minute to open a window and "just look someWAAHR WAAHR you can seee...far OUT".

Unt0977090898009.jpg

Remember everyone, open the window in your room and gaze at the horizon across your boundless acres of green. This will help your eye strain.

If your window overlooks an alley or other building, you're shit out of luck.

Unt09770908989-09009.jpg

Ruby does not cite her sources for this, but she does add an awkward close-up of her eye to demonstrate how to use them to look at things.

I'm pretty sure regular breaks from looking at close screens and keeping regular appointments with your optician where needed is sufficient. Staring at things hundreds of miles away is not essential.

11. Have a Shower/Bath.

Ruby always feels "SYO REFRASHED" after bathing. Which is odd, since she hardly seems to bathe and never seems to pay attention to basic hygiene.

Moving on to the 'Learning' section, which has no place in a study break, Ruby claims it's essential that your brain is still active during a break, because Daniel H. Pink says so in his book 'Drive'.

U-9-89.jpg

Ruby, the maximum amount of brain activity you need during a break from strenuous study is to not be dead. That's it. It's a break from study. Get the fuck out of here with this 'when I'm not studying, I make sure I'm studying' toxic productivity nonsense, you addle-brained fuckwit.

12. Learn a Language.

Again, not a break from studying. This is studying.

Ruby says that studies have shown that learning languages will increase your grey matter, giving you that Big Brain Energy.

90809709uijmkjpg.jpg

To prove this expanse of mental capacity which Ruby has harnessed, she shows herself painting like an infant. Note that she uses an empty Zoella candle as a water pot, because she has to give a shout-out to her OG inspiration for being a greedy, money-hungry, creatively bankrupt and entirely dishonest influencer.

Ruby can't even speak her native language, so the last thing she should be trying is to learn another one.

Of course, she's not really learning a language. She claims to be learning Spanish, but has to delve into the archives of footage to her high school studies to find some footage of her doing so:

908090-9-0kjpg.jpg

Why pretend? Well, this video's sponsored by a language-learning app, of course! And naturally, she's using it ALL THE TIME now and listening to the associated Spanish-language podcast!

stop-fucking-lying-angry.gif

Yet again, Ruby, you don't have to lie about this shit. Just say "This is an advertisement, this is the product and what it does" and move the fuck on. They will not pay you more for lying or claiming to adore the product. And if the company requires you to be dishonest when advertising their product, you should refuse that sponsorship. All that lying in every ad does is make you look like a completely dishonest person free from any shred of integrity or scruples. I mean, I know that's all completely true of you, but you don't have to make it SYO OBVIOUS.

Ruby claims that the app is great because it doesn't teach you basic language foundations, it teaches you how to have everyday conversations with people in other languages about topics like...climate change? Because I know that if I were to step off the plane in a Spanish-speaking country, the first thing I'd want to do is harass the airport employees about climate change and not, y'know, be able to ask where the toilet is.

65vrve.jpg

Ruby heartily endorses Babbel, and claims that it's the best language-learning app she's ever used. By that she means they're the only language-learning app currently paying her.

13. Learn to Play a Musical Instrument.

If you are studying, this is NOT A BREAK FROM STUDYING.

giphy-downsized-large.gif

Ruby's out here suggesting that a break from studying should be occupied by things that are more mentally taxing than the thing you were actually studying, like learning Mandarin, or teaching yourself to play the fucking violin.

14. Read a Book.

Ruby claims she likes to read only short stories or anthologies during a study break, because if she reads a full-length novel she'll get too distracted and want to read it all. This is obvious bullshit, since Ruby won't read anything longer than 30 pages regardless of the time she has to work with.

15. Research Something You Discovered While Studying.

tumblr_inline_p6m7szLjsf1qzjix8_400.gif

THIS IS NOT A BREAK FROM STUDYING. THIS IS JUST MORE STUDYING.

16. Do a Riddle.

Solve the riddle of the missing charity money!

Spoilers: It's in Ruby's pockets.

17. Do a Brain-Teaser Puzzle or Crossword.

Why not do a "syoo-dokie" puzzle.

18. Learn a Poem by Heart.

giphy.gif

Reading a poem is a leisure activity. Memorising a poem is studying.

But Ruby says reciting poetry improves your grit - Angela Duckworth said so in a book that Ruby pretended to read recently.

9080-80kjpg.jpg

You know, grit: "Courage and resolve; strength of character." Qualities which Ruby has never displayed in her entire life.

Ruby, if you want to show some grit, perseverance and resolve, why not go a week without lying? Maybe donate all the hoarded money you pledged to various charities? Why not put in that once-a-month visit to the book club you started and then bailed on?

9080890.jpg

And then, the whole reason for this entry - so that she could assault us with a "dramatic" reading of Poe's The Raven, delivered like a deranged serial killer who lost control of their forehead muscles, since she furrows her brow at random when "performing".

19. Learn a New Word.

Again, this is studying. Ruby also seems to have confused 'learning a new word' with 'inventing a new word', as evidenced by half her sentences being full of alien gibberish.

20. Just Learn Something Else.

Ruby...

dorothy-what-to-do-if-you-had-a-brain.gif

Changing the topic of study is NOT A BREAK FROM STUDYING.

Ruby suggests learning "Morse code, or capitals, or Pi because it will get your brain working". That hasn't worked for Ruby so far, though.

And onto the 'Chores/Organising' section.

Ruby claims this is her favourite thing to do, despite her home constantly looking like a landfill that even stray pigeons would deem too filthy and unhygienic to perch and shit on.

21. Basically Any Kind of Chore that You Might Need to Get Done.

Excuse me a moment, I've rolled my eyes too much that I strained them and now need to look at something very far away to recover.

So, the first entry in the 'Chores' section is 'All of the Chores'?

908-8980.jpg

She gives laundry as an example, then reuses that footage of her mixing all her colours and whites in the laundy. Naturally, it's the only footage she has of her attempting to do laundry, because it's the only time she's ever attempted to do laundry.

908-89809-.jpg

Similarly, she has to trawl through a year of footage to find some of her washing dishes, since it happens so infrequently. And even then, it's not worth the minimal effort. In this timelapse footage, Ruby picks up a spatula, rubs soap suds on one side and then puts it aside to dry without cleaning the other side or rinsing.

22. Tidying Your Room.

Is this not a chore? Why is this a separate entry?

Regardless, Ruby never does this. She says even though she put this in as a study break, you should do this before studying or, if you're like her, you'll get nothing done otherwise.

"A tidy ryoom is a tidy mind. I GAT SYO distracted and can't concentrate if my room isn't tidy"..."I always feel more reFRASHed if I sit down at a desk which is clean, which I know has been disinFACTed."

BelovedInnocentGopher-size_restricted.gif

Ruby expects people to believe that she keeps her room spotless through sheer compulsive need to stay focused, even though there's always dirt, clutter and empty cups everywhere. All the dead flies on your windowsill have some things to say, Ruby.

And, again, she reuses that footage of the time she pretended to clean her desk for another video, because that's the only time she's ever done it.

23. Organise Something in Your Room.

Like a volunteer charity event, or a book club? Oh, wait, you don't mean that kind of organisation, Ruby?

She suggests decluttering a wardrobe, or organising your study notes.

24. Sort Out Your Pens.

Why not waste some time checking if your pens work? That'll definitely distract you from the knowledge that adulthood has arrived, your childhood is gone and every day you wake up older than you were the day before.

Aw, man, now I bummed myself out.

200.gif

Onto the 'Admin/Planning' section, and Ruby shoehorns in a planner ad:

64564564.jpg

25. Planning.

"Planning is JANUINELY one of my favourite things to do in a study break."

giphy.gif

Ruby holds up a pristine, unused planner, because her stash of planners only see a minimal amount of use when she needs to fill in a random day and pose it to be visible in a staged Instagram photo. Every day inbetween, she doesn't use it.

"CONTROVERSIAL OPINION," Ruby announces, snatching at the air with her hands. "I knyow a lot of people say that planning is a waste of time anddd that it's a bad idea to spend a lot of time planning...(Hi, Ruby! 👋 )...But I REALLY THINK that the time you put into planning WILL PAY OFF."

No. It will not pay off. The extent to which planning is helpful will vary from person to person. But like anything, it's best in moderation. It's also supposed to be an efficiency task. Y'know, measure twice, cut once. Not plan 400 times, then not have enough time to do the actual thing.

Take Ruby's dissertation as an example.

She has wasted the better part of a year planning, because she did it ass-backwards, planning for an aesthetic, not an essay question. She put in lots of wasted time assembling quotes and ideas and Dark Academic fantasy plans that held no value, but she'd wasted so much time on it she clearly didn't want to start from scratch. A year later and all that planning resulted in no progress and was an absolutely waste of time, and now she's tethered to an ill-fitting dissertation idea because she's sunk too much time on the planning to let it go and so something better suited.

The way Ruby endorses and encourages planning is 100% a waste of time.

You do not need to plan your "habits".

You do not need to plan a morning routine.

Nobody needs to put something in a planner, add it to a to-do list, add to a daily schedule, copy it into Notion, and so on. That's redundant busywork and an unmitigated waste of time.

Too much planning in and of itself can be a crutch and a burden and deprives you of time much better spend just doing the task at hand. If you have to remind yourself to wake up and brush your teeth, you have bigger, more fundamental problems than studying.

So, no, do not buy Ruby's planner and do not follow her planning advice in any way.

Despite her supposedly being a diligent and organised planner, she lies about most of what she plans and half of what she does plan, she doesn't accomplish. She fails to remind herself of basic things like train times, campus buildings for meetings and so on. She's constantly down to the wire and poorly prepared with everything, she struggles to remember where she's going or what she's doing and all that planning she actually does proves pointless.

The system she recommends does not work for her and it won't work for you.

Sure, take a break from studying to just do work and never relax until you're dead.

27. Some Kind of Meal Prepping.

If you have a busy week coming up, apparently you should roast some vegetables a week in advance.

So Ruby's advice for a study break isn't to eat a meal, but to plan in advance for a future meal to not eat the following week.

Is it me? Am I the crazy one?

If your only time-consuming responsibility is university, and you still can't find time to cook a meal, then it's a sign you should stop wasting all your free time on planning busywork and all the nonsense you encourage in this video and focus on the essential shit, like eating.

Ruby recycles some footage of her cooking...something? But since she's pulled out-of-context footage from an existing video and not raw footage, there's half a recipe on-screen, and it makes it seem like Ruby's suggesting a complete recipe consisting on baking powder and baking soda. So delicious! The sad thing is, this doesn't seem much worse than what Ruby usually eats.

And, finally, the 'Other' section.

28. Listen to Music.

645640879-9084.jpg

The first thing that's close to a relaxing breaktime leisure activity, and Ruby relegated it to the fucking 'Other' section.

There's not much to say about this other than to say you don't have to wait until your break to listen to music.

"A 2013 study found that music helps put people in a better mood," Ruby adds. She does not cite the study or provide any further information. At least she's aware that this is common sense, obvious shit.

"There have been a few studies related to classical music. Apparently it can improve memory and attANshun to detail." Ironic considering Ruby claims to listen to classical music often and her memory's dogshit and she forgot to include any details for these studies she's talking about.

29. Write a Letter.

Ruby tries to write a letter AVVERY DAY, in case you forgot. Nobody writes back though.

30. Watch Something That Gets You Thinking/Keeps You Thinking.

Ruby stresses that if you watch something on a break, it's important that you "watch something that gets you thinking, keeps you thinking, keeps you actively engaged, syooo basically something that you could write notes on". If it's something you're passively watching, that's not good enough according to Ruby.

What fresh bullshit is this? Look, just relax, watch whatever brings you entertainment and joy and distracts you from your work so you can unwind for a while.

Not everything needs to be a brain-mashing feat of intellectual strength and agility. The whole point of a break is to not be stressing yourself out and taxing your brain. It's a rest break for your brain. Cramming it with more studying defeats the purpose and is stupid as fuck.

31. Do Some Creative Writing.

(I don't even know if 31-33 are supposed to be separate entries, Ruby just blurts them all out in quick succession with nothing to say about them.)

Why not write a short story or some poetry? You know, the only things Ruby will read to completion.

Again, it says a lot that the things closest approximating a relaxing leisure activity for a break are buried in the doldrums and the last things she thought of.

32. Draw or Paint Something.

6456408789-0084.jpg

Ruby recycles the same footage from earlier in the video. High effort stuff!

33. Have a Chat with Someone You Live With (or Call Someone).

645698084.jpg

Does this still count as a social break if you already spend 98% of the day stalking the person everywhere they go and never leave them alone? Asking for a Ruby.

34. Do Some Kind of Journalling.

You should "reFLACKt" on what you learned that day during your study break.

Because after you're done studying, why not reminisce about that time you just spent studying? Then the next time you take a break from studying, you can look back on old journals to see what you had to say about your studies on your past study break at 12pm on March 14th, 2019. Those were the days...

There is no 35th entry, because it wouldn't be a Ruby list video if she didn't lose track of entries, fail to number them and just add in general smatterings of massive incompetence. But remember, Ruby's study break ideas make her brain run at peak efficiency with all the creative energy and maximum attention to detail!

Ruby interrupts her outro to say it's "SYOO COLD", as it always is with Ruby, regardless of location or temperature. Beach in the Bahamas? Syoo cold! Centre of a burning building wearing fifteen sweaters? Syoo cold!

It's so cold, in fact, that Ruby waited until she had the camera set up and recording before she started layering up...

parks-and-rec-april-ludgate.gif

She says her boiler isn't working, but she's been saying that for months now. She also says it's 11 degrees Celsius, which is a pretty comfortable ambient temperature in the UK.

If Ruby's always cold, it's because she's malnourished. That's what happens when you never eat. But her suddenly making a very dramatic, clearly rehearsed deal out of this makes it seems like she's sowing the seeds to move back home because it's just TYO cold to stay in AXE-atar.

And then after the outro, there's another Marvel movie-style post-credits scene! It's an ad for PONKIN' Productivity, but Ruby says she's showing the ad 'Just before we start this video'. So...is this a Memento situation where the video was shown in reverse chronological order?

Someone pointed out that HER MUM LIKES HER BONKERS FOOD POSTS.

That is just... that's criminal. How can you be acutely aware of the dangerous and abnormal way your daughter is eating and not be alarmed?!
