I remember there used to be an Exeter confessions page where you could do anon submissions and someone wrote this, so I think tbh she’s always been seen as a bit of a joke there. I think this post was too far though.

Seems more than fair to me.

Aside from her fans, who would be more likely to sign up to her uni already without the paid ads, the average student isn't going to be swayed into signing up by a privileged YouTuber peddling toxic productivity habits in videos full of lies and fabricated schedules. The uni is tarring their reputation by associating with someone like that, and that was before she'd added another dozen shady controversies to her belt.

But more importantly, how many students who don't already have the wealth and social media following that Ruby has got the opportunity to be a paid spokesperson for the university?

It's yet another instance where Ruby didn't need the money, but that opportunity could've made a real difference to someone else. It's another instance where Ruby should've stopped, thought if it was right ("Could someone else use this money more?", "Do I spend enough time here and enjoy it enough to endorse it?", "Is this a conflict of interest? I shouldn't take the money if it'll raise questions of favouritism in my viewers, or affect my ability to be honest about the uni in my content...") and declined.

If I was a parent and my kid was having to work a job alongside uni to pay to stay at their first choice uni, meanwhile the university threw tuition fee money at a rich, spoiled influencer who was vocal about it not being the uni they wanted to go to, who actively spends as little time as they can on campus and actively encourages toxic productivity in students, I'd be fucking livid about the university's choices.

The university was stupid and senseless to do it. Ruby's fans would've already got all the Exeter University advertising in the world for free through her study vlog content. And the average student isn't going to leap to sign up just because a spoilt, judgemental Hermione impersonator tells them to in ads she got paid to read. That money could've gone towards scholarship programmes, or books and facilities that would benefit everyone. Instead it was more money in Ruby’s Scrooge McDuck hoarded pool of cash.

If anything, it's a massive conflict of interest to pay an influencer enrolled at the university where their grades are assigned to speak favourably about said uni. Warranted or not, it's going to raise lots of questions when the dumb-as-rocks influencer student who gets improbable firsts across the board is a paid employee of the university who never says a bad word about said university in her content.

Yet again, Ruby's physically incapable of adding the name of the independent small business she went to and that might benefit greatly from the exposure.

But if it's Waterstones, she'll make eleven posts and a video to remind you that she visited Waterstones and loves Waterstones and did she mention that she went to Waterstones because she went to Waterstones and Waterstones was the most Waterstonesy that Waterstones has ever been!

@gossip_guy no pressure but I just wanted to say that if you wanted to make a recap of the latest video(s) but are thinking that it's too late — pls pls pls make it lol you could make a recap of a video that came out 8 months ago, and I'd still read every word :m
Enjoy!

"In Awkswud yeu have weak cereal," Ruby says.

Wait, what? Hold on, let me try turning on subtitles for this shit.

Well, never mind. I don't think YouTube's voice recognition knows what to make of her fake AMMA WATSYON accent. Meanwhile, Ruby's apparently more concerned with the potency of the university's breakfast offerings than anything crazy like, I don't know, maybe reading an actual book.

Apparently it's "week zero" at Oxford - a week apparently named for the amount of charities Ruby hasn't snatched money from.

Untitled6756798756786 - Copy.png

Ruby starts her uni journey as she means to go on: By wandering the city in her Oxford cosplay, with lanyard on display, a "PRAT" coffee in hand, borrowed books which she'll never read held under her arm, getting soaked by rain instead of being stored in her (leather) bag. Truly the actions of a JANUINE genius with an abundance of common sense and nothing all to prove.

She means to rub the general public's nose in the fact that she is now an OXFWUD STYOODANT and should be admired and respected. This tactic might have been more effective if she weren't in a small area populated largely with other Oxford students, all of whom are infinitely smarter than her. So rather than the awe and wonder she expected, people's reactions seem to be: "Who's that fucking moron?" or "Who's that fucking moron who forgot her coat?"

Untitled6756798756786434646876856 - Copy.png

Ruby catches a glimpse of someone wearing that raincoat she's always playing dress-up in, but this still isn't enough of an indication that she should dress appropriately for the weather.

Wait a second...

Is that ghost hunter Zak Bagans?!

The-Haunted-Mansion - Copy.jpg

He's presumably in Oxford to investigate the sightings of a pale and ghostly elderly child wandering the city streets, wailing for attention in some strange, possibly demonic dialect.

An exhausted, sullen-looking Ruby explains that, after running into some MACHYOOOR STEEYOODENTS, she went to photograph herself in several libraries, which she somehow considers "WAAHRK".

After filming some shots in the "DEWCOMFRIES LOIBREEEE" (aka the Duke Humphries Library) which is, according to Rubes, "whaahr they filmed Harry Pottum", she quickly relocates to another library entirely for no reason at all other than to give the illusion that she's very busy doing a variety of things.

She claims she read the entirety of 'Blindness & Insight' by Paul de Man and 'Allegory of Love' by C.S. Lewis, but if we didn't already know that Ruby is a pathological liar who loves to pretend she's exceedingly productive when really she does fuck all, well, she's also a moron who doesn't pay attention to what she's filming.

By the time she's patting herself on the back and ready to tick things off her to-do list, it's 10:59am.

She wants people to believe she read 728 pages and took detailed notes in less than 40 minutes.

At least try to make this shit believable, Ruby.

In reality, she no doubt spent 10 minutes copying random passages from books she skimmed into Notion and 30 minutes scribbling desperate emails to Blakeney to do her homework for her again for old time's sake. She even awkwardly parrots some of what she's just copied in narration as though they were her own thoughts. Oxford isn't going to fall for this shit like she hopes it will.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h087687m56s218098096 - Copy.png

After getting her fill of filming herself in libraries pretending to study, Ruby's back in her room. She apologises to the audience for the piles of trash and dirty dishes on her tea tray.

Most people would, I don't know, wash up and throw out the rubbish at this point. Ruby's solution is to - I shit you not - propose just buying an extra tea tray to store even more dirty dishes on.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h087687m56s21809880980096 - Copy.png

But in honour of 'zero week', she washes zero dishes, then she's off out again to pretend to study in another public forum, so the commoners can marvel at her productive ways.

She picks Crosstown donuts, the place that have gifted her boxes of donuts before. Again, this is 'zero week', so there are zero ad disclaimers.

As soon as she's fulfilled her undeclared ad requirement, she quickly packs up and runs to Blackwells to sponsor-beg for more cash opportunities--I mean, meet those MATCHOOR STEEEEYOOOODENT FRANDS she made.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h087687m56s2187890988056576567979980096 - Copy.png

After that, it's time for a spontaneous outfit change on what is JANUINELY the same day and NWOT AT AWLL a different day entirely, HOW DAERRR YEUUU. Ruby's "WAAAHRKING" in yet another new location and she looks absolutely done. Utterly miserable and with dark bags under her eyes, she looks on the verge of tears for most of this clip.

You can practically see her come to the realisation that she's hopelessly out of her depth. This is someone who has complained in the past that she doesn't like studying in public places and avoided the library at Exeter like the plague for the duration of her time there. Instead, she holed up in her room (and for most of her time, her childhood bedroom) and pretended to do lots of "waaahrk".

Alone in her bedroom is the only way she can be the smartest person in the room. And if she did insist on studying in public, it was in coffee shops and tea rooms, where she'd take up space just to study in a place with no other students, so she could feel special.

But the sole reason she wants to be at Oxford is to be seen as an Oxford student, which means she's going to have to film herself incessantly in the various VARRY DARK MACADAMIA libraries to get her aesthetic mileage out of this ego trip. And those libraries are always going to be filled with other students who are much smarter and more productive with less effort than her, so naturally, she looks absolutely miserable every moment she's there.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h087687m56s21878354390988056576567979980096 - Copy.png

Another outfit change out of nowhere and Ruby's popping to "AMANASS", or M&S to everyone else. She's there to buy a VARRY VEGAN dinner, which she will enjoy while studiously watching a roundtable discussion on "decolonising bibliography" and HONNASTLEEE didn't spend the rest of whatever night this is just ringing mummy to beg her parents to come take her home.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y797m56s21878354390988056576567979980096 - Copy.png

It's "CHEESEDAY" and Ruby's very excited because there's a coffee meet-up with people from her strand at 1pm and her afternoon-long course induction is at "tyoo". Before that, she's apparently going to get lots of "waaaaaahhhhrrk" done, but is planning to do it all in several different libraries for no reason whatsoever other than, again, the illusion of living a very busy, productive and varied life that's VARRY DARKLY ACADAMMICUL.

She leads us to believe she's there for a while, but realistically she's there for 20 minutes of skim-reading and copying random passages for the sake of some VARRY PRODOCKTIVE footage.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y77979879980096 - Copy.png

Then it's time for a change of scenery for another session of morosely and mindlessly copying shit into Notion.

She's knocked her clock over, but you can see the position of the hands clearly in time-lapse: It's 12:25pm.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y77979879980079996 - Copy.png

She's decided to have LONCH in the dining hall, to get footage of herself in as many Harry Potter-esque locations as she can to get her money's worth from Oxford. She's also probably worked up an appetite from having not eaten a full meal since 2019.

She's apparently so concerned by the possibility of intruding on people's privacy by filming them without their permission (or the university's) that she decided to blur one person's face and most of one wall for some reason. All the other people and walls are shit outta luck, I guess.

Ruby excitedly chirps that she "COULD NWOT GAT OVER...the ARCHITACKTURE of this ryoom" and is also amazed that this is her "dining hw--"

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y7797987979998454570079998906.png

Ruby has no time to finish her sentence or pay attention to what she's editing, not when there's books that she'll never read to pick up and libraries to be filmed in! She says she rushed from LONCH to another loiyyybeeeee before her induction. Naturally, she only reaches for the books on high shelves because she's such a precocious child.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y77979879799980079996 - Copy.png

According to the library tablet thing, it's 1:28pm, so Ruby must've missed that coffee meet-up at 1 or forgot what she was pretending happened on this "day", because it's not mentioned again.

Then she's off to her induction, but she mentions that she didn't film any of that because "it didn't feel right to film".

Almost everyone eating lunch = Okay to film. ✅
People trying to study in peace = Okay to film. ✅
Induction sessions = NOT OKAY TO FILM. ❌
Sarah McRando eating her dauphinoise potatoes = NOT OKAY TO FILM. ❌
1/3rd of the far wall in the Oxford University dining hall = NOT OKAY TO FILM. ❌

Oxford has some weirdly specific rules about filming, I guess.

Nothing of consequence happens on Wednesday and Ruby seems to have tired herself out with her 10 minute trips to every library she could find because she spends most of the day pretending to be productive in her room instead, aside from a trip to the FRASHERS FAAHR which goes largely unfilmed.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y779798797999845457007999789779798906 - Copy.png

She does, however, briefly interact with some of the other people in her dorm, which is nice to see. But I wonder how quickly the rest of the students there get sick of having to manoeuvre around Ruby as she turns everywhere she feels like into a set for her videos without permission.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y77979879799984545700799978976876779798906 - Copy.png

Thursday rolls around, it's allegedly SIX THARRTY and Ruby is in the process of losing her damn mind. She swishes some water around her mouth, swallows it, then it's off to STODDY.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y779798797999845457007999789768779796779798906 - Copy.png

Ruby's feeling very pleased with herself because she thinks she's solved that pesky 'filming in public study spaces' problem she's been having, where she's surrounded by other students there to actually study, who put her to shame and ruin her "big fish in a small pond" fantasies. Ruby's decided she's just going to wake up before they so so she can film herself studying alone and make everyone else look lazy.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y7797990979798906 - Copy.png

But mere moments after she's smugly congratulated herself for waking up before everyone else, other students start appearing.

At home in her room, she could fake the time quite easily (although she never hid her tracks well). Want to pretend you woke up at 4am? Just film 20 minutes of footage at 9pm and lie.

But one of the major downsides about her being at Oxford is that if she wants to pretend she's studying in public earlier than everyone else, she'll have to actually wake up early. And she still won't win. People are going to be up at dawn or on the tail-end of all-nighters all over the place. So it's no shock that Ruby looks miserable and completely exhausted (again) to boot.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y7797990977999798906.png

She films herself for a couple more minutes then gives up and retreats to her room.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y7797990976797999798906 - Copy.png

"I'm really enjoying these short stories," she says, thoroughly unconvincingly, as she starts to drift into a thousand-yard stare of utter despair.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y779799097679799976598906 - Copy.png

But she didn't waste £30,000 just to sit in her room, she did it to be seen pretending to study in public as an official OXFWUD STEEEYOOOODONT, so she's off to PRAT again. She blurs faces at complete random, looks miserable (unsurprising, since she bumps into the problem of there being other students there to study again) and doesn't appear to get much of anything done.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h08768y7797990976797998799976598906 - Copy.png

Back in her room, Ruby does some content training (but apparently has not learned about getting people's consent to be filmed and used as unpaid extras in B-roll footage to be reuses for the next few years).

"Oi've johsst had a WON-DERFOL catch-opp cwall with Timmy, hyoo oiy WAAHRK WITH on PONKIN PODDUCTIVITEEE. He's HONNASSTLEEE AMAZING andddddd...oiy cyud NOT RON the comm-panny without him."

Spoilers: Ruby doesn't run the company at all.

vlcsnap-2023-10-18-20h087679898y77979979790976797998799976598906 copy - Copy.png

That consent training seems to have worked wonders, since Ruby goes to eat lunch in the dining hall again for the Harry Potter vibes and just films everyone trying to mind their own business and eat in peace without getting their permission or blurring a single face.

69698906 copy - Copy.png

Then it's off to film in another library without the permission of the university or any of the students she films. Ruby drones on about how JANUINELY ACKSQUISITE this building is and how she spent every moment awestruck and unable to believe that she's really able to study there. Meanwhile, she spends every second of footage there looking completely unimpressed and utterly morose.

8889997659867867906 - Copy.png

The only brief crack in her miserable exterior comes when someone apparently approaches to say something. She responds with a forced, thankful smile and then goes right back to looking like she'd rather be anywhere else. Was this a fawning fan or someone kindly offering to escort Ruby back to the nearest nursing home? Who knows!

Ruby claims she read an entire book and did many, many other tasks, but she doesn't want to bore us with the (fictional) details.

88899976598678679678606 - Copy.png

She shows off a to-do list. Apparently Molly didn't learn what a toxic fuckwit Ruby is the first time she got rid of her and has opted back in for more of her bullshit.

Ruby's advice for applying for a Masters:

1. Have a genuine interest.
2. Have a reason to apply.

Things Ruby didn't have when applying for her Masters:

1. A genuine interest.
2. A reason to apply.

I thought the most bookish thing to do would be reading a book. How silly of me, when there are bookish candles to light, bookish teas to make, bookish wax seals to sloppily stamp and bookish playlists to play while staring at books on the shelf.

Whoops, Ruby wasn't paying attention when Googling "quotes about siblings" and accidentally reveals she didn't actually read the thing she claims she read, for the 42,948,567th time.

I'm also dying at Ruby's weirdly clinical and ambiguous birthday message to her sister; note that Ruby doesn't actually says anything positive about her sister or their relationship anywhere in this post.

It's exceptionally British through a rose-tinted lens, in the same way a lot of tourists think Parisian life is scampering around le boulangerie tres chic, when most of the time you're trying to avoid dog shit

Exceptionally British to me is waiting on a cold platform, and hearing the magic words, "I'm sorry to announce that the 17.03 service to London Bridge is delayed by 20 minutes. This train is formed of half a carriage."

her commenters are so thick it astounds me. do they really think that she came up with the phrase “stone’s throw” by herself?

Keeping these chapter overviews behind a spoiler, that way if Ruby is choosing to read this thread, she can walk on by. These are not intended as a personal attack on Ruby. I once noted in a diary entry the, "definite sexual tension," between me and an A level tutor. Narrator: there was no sexual tension.

Erimentha gets up, makes porridge and makes a list. Items include talking to Kimberly and Izzy to clarify the exact reasons for their unkindness. "From there, adjustments can be made as necessary." Adjustments? 😨 Re-education camps? Frontal lobotomy? The dark turn this novel is taking scares me.

At school, a friend is doing last night's homework and Erimentha offers to check it, as she is obviously far more capable than the adult paid to do it. A new antagonist, Beth, pulls a dick move by throwing Erimentha's post-it pad out of the window. She demands a meeting with the three of them to hash this out. Writes a new post-it to remind herself.

In history class, Mr Aldridge asks the class about Oliver Cromwell. Erimentha's hand shoots up, but given that she is already monopolising the class, he gives the answer to another student, and she said he was a ruler in Britain. She lifts her hand even higher to the ceiling, to the point of almost standing up. She will not allow this intellectual inferior get the final say! Now in real life, the teacher would take the reins and not allow this show-off to embarrass another classmate, but as this is fiction/autobiographical, the brow-beaten Mr Aldridge has no resolve left. She dazzles with her answer and is given a fucking housepoint.

It's the end of class and it's time to confront the others. They say she has no sense of humour and doesn't socialise. To be fair, this is fairly constructive, they haven't name-called and so far seems accurate.

To demonstrate there is actual bullying going on, Kimberly tells Erimentha that she's decided the whole year group will hate her, and throws her gum at her.

After classes, she sees her friend Simone who is excited to come to her place tomorrow. Erimentha has already made a list of what's required for the volcano. They don't keep vinegar in the house as Nathan's allergic (another fault of his) and Simone agrees to bring it, as well as dry ice.

Ruby's back after an unannounced, unexplained hiatus (it's JANUINELY not because her dissertation, her influencer career and her academic prospects are all crumbling around her, what made you think such TARRABLE things?!) and...it's a routine video.

Untitled567567.jpg

During her time off, Ruby has evidently taken a brief moment to REFLACKT on the stale, repetitive and indescribably incompetent filmmaking and editing techniques, as she starts this "new" video off with a different style than usual.

She starts out with a preview of all the wonders we'll see in this very video, like those movie trailers that show you a mini teaser for the short trailer you're already about to watch. The audio levels are a shitshow even in this section, and she left ambient background noise in some clips, not in others, and the audio levels are all over the place.

But! Even though she soundtracks this layer cake of acoustic fuckery with generic plinking piano music once again, it's a plinking piano track she hasn't reused 8 billion times! I mean, it's still the same rehashed crap we're witnessing, but at least this is something, I guess? Like if you were forced to eat cat litter every day for every meal of your life, served up on the same plate every time, eventually you'd just be relieved to see a slightly different design on the plate.

And speaking of the same old shit, this intro teaser that Ruby has added promises such riveting delights as...

Untitled890456567567.jpg

Watching her stare at laptops with a face like a slapped arse.

Untitled89045656787567.jpg

She'll be leaving her camera unattended as she films herself walking up and down the same 15 feet stretch of pavement.

She'll dress like she stole her wardrobe from mismatched items found on the washing line of someone playing a French art student in a series of school plays.

Untitled890456767.jpg

She'll eat tiny servings of ridiculous "food", never once attempting to eat a full, nutritious meal.

Untitled89.jpg

She'll associate exclusively with young, blonde white girls, as though she can't bear to look at a world that isn't full of people who look like less desiccated variants of herself.

Untitled84569.jpg

She'll do uncoordinated gymnastics while nobody pays attention and Ruby wishes her mummy were there to cheer her on and tell her how talented she is every time she almost lands on her face and shatters her spine.

But practicing her diving skills is important, too.

1227081149388875ii334 copy.png

Untitled4636356.jpg

She'll also show us what's in her bag, even though she's done that several times before and according to her, she ALWAYS carries the same things in her bag AVVERY SINGLE DAY, so I'm not sure what new revelations are supposed to be unearthed in Ruby's bag aside from more dust and gifted snack bars.

Oh, and it's also a "night routine", because self-proclaimed former child genius Ruby is actually profoundly dumb, and along with the other 95% of the English language which she doesn't know the meaning of, she doesn't know what the word "routine" means, either. If something's routine, it a regular pattern which doesn't change, and there's no point showing it 326 billion times a year.

Untitled466575789756.jpg

The music abruptly drops out and we're assaulted by the abrasive sounds of traffic rushing everywhere. You could say this is symbolic of Ruby's dread over her impending future, being slam-dunked from academia into life's dumpster to a cacophony of noise as the rat race rushes on noisily around her. But you could also say that it's Ruby's sheer lack of filmmaking skill and her inability to understand consistent sound levels and scene transitions even after 7 years of doing this shit. And you should definitely say that, because it's totally the case.

Anyway, it's 30th March, allegedly, so what the fuck Ruby's been doing for two weeks is a mystery.

Untitled466575789456756.jpg

"On my whey to my laaahst avar seminar!" Ruby says, about to cry.

And then she launches into super-serious documentary narration for some reason.

"The AND of the academic year is strange...(DISGUSTING SOUNDS OF LICKING LIPS)...ANDD...the AND of your time at university or school is even stranger..." That letter at the beginning of the work "end" is an 'E', Ruby; it goes "eh", much like most people's indifferent reaction to your terrible content.

Ruby starts waxing philosophical about how many "laaaahsts" there are: "Lahhst clahhhsses" (where Ruby learned nothing but to cannibalise other people's ideas and notes), "lahhst walks past your favourite buildings" (even though Ruby avoided campus like the fucking plague) and maybe even "laaahst conversations with FRANDS" (even though Ruby only socialised with one person, who happened to be her roommate).

"ANDD...you're so AWAAHR that these moiyt bee...LAHHSTS."

Untitled46657578945677656.jpg

Ruby includes footage of campus, and it's supposed to come off as reflective, but it's all a mess of different speeds and awkward whip-pans for no reason.

But she's also narrating this with faux-pensive meditations on the impermanence of things while filming the outside of clinical-looking buildings as though this is a documentary about palliative care and she's trying to summon the courage to finally go inside to say goodbye to a dying relative.

Her sad, mournful narration is hilarious since, in actuality, she's just graduating from a uni that she didn't like and moving away from a place she actively avoided whenever possible.

Untitled466575789tyu4567757656 copy.png

And then she just switches back to her usual slapdash vlog style, as though she wanted to make a documentary-style video on the final days of uni but one of her two remaining brain cells wouldn't cooperate with the other, so she just threw a kitchen sink of mismatched crap together.

"Yokyay, I've JOST has my LAAHST evar saminar as an undergraduate hyahrr," Ruby says, and Exeter University's academic staff shuddered in unison at the prospect of her returning to study at Master's level there.

no-more-go-t.gif

"I...am...gyoing to gyo and stoddy," Ruby says, but she also whips out her now-trademark "I'm totally lying" facial tic/poker tell:

Untitled4665757894567757656.jpg

"AND...THAN...I'M...gyowing to STODDY in town for a little bit and then I'M...meeting some FRANDS...for...brOnch...AT...twalve..."

Ruby's habit of emphasising the word "I" or "I'm" and then pausing as though waiting for an applause because she was mentioned has kicked into high gear into this video.

The bizarre pauses in her sentences make it seem like she's edited it together from multiple takes, even though she hasn't (this time, at least), so the only conclusion is that Ruby has started talking in as broken and disjointed a cadence as possible to cut out a step and save herself the effort of making herself sound like a garbled mess in editing. People can't complain that your editing makes you sounds like a seizure-ridden alien if you just start talking like that to begin with!

But she also does this face again when talking about seeing friends, studying and eating brunch, so we know none of those things will happen:

Untitled466575789tyu4567657757656.jpg

"YOUAREAWARE that things are gyowing to change but avverything remains syo normal in...the myoment."

Her narration abruptly returns out of nowhere, yoinking us from vlog style to low-quality documentary again. There's no flow or proper connective tissue, Ruby just jammed documentary voiceover into an unrelated vlog.

Untitled466575789tyu456767866757757656.jpg

Ironically, Ruby talks about things being normal while harassing some sleeping ducks, because university?

Untitled466575789tyu456766757757656.jpg

And then she awkwardly films a stagnant murder pond for some reason, and she's probably cataloguing this spot in her mind as the place to drown Blakeney to prevent her from leaving at graduation. If Ruby can't co-opt all Blakeney's time 24/7, then nobody can. RIP Blakeney.

Untitled466575789tyu456767866758907757656.jpg

She continues her melancholy, melodramatic rambles about how "AVVERYTHING will change syoon". In a masterclass of unintentional comedic timing, she cuts from moaning about how time at uni is far too fleeting and she'll never get to see the wonderful buildings and people again to making flimsy excuses that she can't study on campus because her "WiFi isn't wahrking for some reason on campus" and flees uni as fast as possible.

If you were in any doubt, Ruby does not give a shit about uni. She does everything possible to avoid doing her own work. She never learns. She hates studying. She hasn't enjoyed being in an academic environment past the age of 12. She never enjoyed the university campus environment and has avoided socialising, extracurricular activities and on-campus studying wherever possible.

Her last video was possibly the first time she's ever shown herself studying in the uni library, and it likely only got filmed because she was getting called out here for only frequenting coffee shops, taking up space and buying nothing. Now there's a convenient, dubious excuse for why she HAS to study off-campus. She doesn't like studying, she likes to be seen studying and judged to be intelligent, and that has no merit to her if it's in an environment where other people are doing it smarter and more diligently than her. So she goes to coffee shops, where she can type drivel into Notion and make-believe that the regular peons getting a latte are VARRY IMPRASSED with her, because other students certainly won't be.

She's not sad about leaving academia. She's just terrified of adulthood and grown-up responsibility and wants to delay that as long as possible by clinging to the last thing people told her she was good and special at (y'know, when she was like 10 and got praise from a teacher who was likely just being polite and supportive to this weird, spoilt child who couldn't form coherent sentences).

This video might be remotely interesting if she sat down and was honest about her fear and apprehension surrounding adulthood, but instead it's more lies to avoid uni in a video about cherishing the uni experience?

Untitled466575789tyu5757456767866758907757656.jpg

On her way off campus, she rambles again about how it's the "LAAHST AVVAR TOIYME" she'll be on-campus. It's a nonsensical mush of "OIY'M...(dramatic pause)...blahblahblah...AND...blahblahblah...AND OIY'M...(dramatic pause)..." Her narcissism runs so deep that she can't even mention herself in the first person without pausing and looking around for the parade in her honour.

56757.jpg

She peruses more secluded potential murder spots.

5679798757.jpg

And then she's back at her uni house, dressed like a dishevelled elderly woman.

"I...DID stay on campus for a little bit...AND THAN I...came straight hyome as opposed tyoo gyowing into town," she says, defensively.

Ruby rambles that it didn't make sense to go into town to study, even though she has to go there later anyway to meet her definitely real, absolutely not fictional "friends" there later and has a tonne of studying to get done. Instead she wasted time detouring back home, changed her clothes and added an extra unnecessary link to her day's events.

"Also I'm...weirdly suddenly feeling not varry gud. Feeling a bit ill. I...just wanted to come home."

There's nothing weird about it, Ruby. You don't eat food, so of course your body is going to shut down and you're going to feel like shit.

5679798756757.jpg

Genius Ruby's solution to feeling exausted and ill is to just chug more water and take a "TAN minute" break. What a fucking moron. Kids, don't be like Ruby. If you're ill, listen to your body and rest. Also eat regular, substantial, nutritious meals. Water is not a meal plan.

She mentions that she finished something dissertation-related following a meeting with her dissertation supervisor the day before. She offers no further details. This marks something like 6 or 7 meetings she's had with her dissertation supervisor, not counting all the lengthy emails Ruby's undoubtedly harassed them with. I've not known anyone to take or need that many dissertation meetings, so Ruby's dissertation is clearly still a complete trainwreck.

Remember when Ruby was claiming that she couldn't focus or get any work done unless her desk was spotless and clutter-free? Anyway, here's an unrelated picture of Ruby's desk cluttered with empty mugs, bottles and cans.

56797987567567687 copy.png

Big-brain Ruby can't figure out why she feels like shit when she survives entirely on a variety of stagnant teas, water and Kombucha cans.

567979yutu87567567687.jpg

She magically switches to her third outfit of the "day" and the narration reappears.

Ruby rambles about how we don't know what it's going to be like to leave academia because we spend our formative years at school. She claims that we form out identities in an academic space and find out our identities while learning. It's abundantly clear that she's completely detached from reality.

She does not have the self-awareness the realise that she has no identity to speak of. Hers is a cobbled-together selection of stolen affectations cribbed from fictional children and the few friends who she made and imitated every style and nuance of. She's cultivated an identity as a bookworm, a scholar, a vegan, and a charitable advocate for kindness. Yet she's proven that she lies about reading and does all she can to avoid doing it. She actively dislikes studying and lies about the extent to which she does it, most of her essays being stitched together from a selection of cannibalised sources. She rarely sticks to a vegan diet. And she actively steals from charities and is a toxic influence to her audience. So, like...what is her identity, beyond being a compulsive liar, narcissist and charity thief?

Also, sure, people spend their formative years at school, but that's not all that they do with their lives. They find themselves and discover their identity by socialising. Interacting with people different than themselves. They try new things. They grow as people. Ruby hasn't done any of that. She's cocooned herself into her fake academic shell and done everything she can to never progress past the age of 12.

This is why you were supposed to actually live a life alongside uni, Ruby. You're not supposed to get to the end of uni with zero idea what your life will ever look life or what you could possibly do with any of your time if you remove academia from the mix. Your life wouldn't be such an unrelenting disaster right now if maybe you'd spent even a little time doing anything else but pretending to be smart and studious.

567979yutu8756756767687.jpg

Ruby lies that YASS, she DID change her clothes, because the weather picked up and got a little warmer and so that meant that she had to change into an outfit comprised of the exact same amount of layers of the same thickness as before. If it got warmer, you'd just remove the wool grandma shawl throw from around your shoulders, you wouldn't change outfits for the third time that day.

For someone who lies about everything, you'd think she'd have improved at it by now, but she's just as bad at it as ever. But that's Ruby in all things, really: She has a select few interests and never improves or grows in any of them.

65657567.jpg

The lies continue as Ruby claims she's been VARRY PRODOCKTIVE by getting lots of writing done. But she's clearly already forgotten the fake timescales she's supposed to be living out in this video, so she spends an awkwardly long time trying to make up an impressive amount of time to have spent writing which won't conflict with anything else she's said. And as she does, she does weird hand gestures and scrunches up her face like she usually does when making shit up.

65657567879.jpg

Lies confirmed.

65657565667879.jpg

Ruby rambles some more in narration about how she gauges the passage of time by the academic year instead of the normal calendar year. She neglects to mention, though, that she also is still living in the mentality of a primary school student. The terminology she uses ("half-term", "terms" instead of "semesters", "classes" instead of lectures/seminars, and so on) is rooted in school, not university, and she never mentally progressed beyond that.

Ruby drops what she thinks is a profound truth-bomb: "The ASS-ense - the core of of you - isn't tied to acadammicks." Yeah, no fucking shit. Almost nobody feels that way. You're the only dipshit out here acting like academia is the be-all and end-all of life and the only defining part of their personality.

65657565665767879.jpg

So Ruby finally goes to meet the "FRANDS" she was scheduled to meet. I don't think they've ever appeared in Ruby's content ever before. They also don't interact with her at any point in the footage shown. They both face each other, pointed away from Ruby. It totally makes it look like Ruby just sat next to two strangers and started filming them, pretending they were friends.

6565756566576645647879.jpg

Ruby congratulates herself on her latest lie and then it's time to change locations again.

She buys a donut "for later", so it's a given that this will never get eaten.

9-009copy.png

It's time for Ruby to show off what's in her bag. She tries to differentiate this from all the other "What's in my bag?" videos she's done by claiming this is a sports bag, when it's just the exact same bag she's shown off as her general school bag before.

6565756566576645680=9847879.jpg

She shows off the enamel pins on her bag (which looks absolutely filthy), for no other reason than to advertise her own brand's product: a "Can Be Kind" pin which is sold on "PONKIN' PRODOCKTIVTEA".

This pin isn't on the bag in the first shot and clearly isn't usually on her bag, but she slapped it on especially just to shill it. She posts an on-screen disclaimer:

6565756566576645680=98478798779.jpg

But Ditch the Label are still waiting for the ad revenue money that Ruby claimed would be going to them if people watched her anti-bullying videos and sat through all the ads, then she blocked anyone who asked how much was raised. No money will go to a charity if it touches Ruby's hands, it'll vanish into her pockets. Just donate directly to the cause and don't enable or encourage her thievery and bullshit.

Her nail polish is also chipped and messy once again, and they magically become painted, chipped and repainted several times in this video, big shocker.

6565756566576645680=9847879-98779.jpg

And, of course, it wouldn't be a Ruby video without an ad for gifted snack bars.

You might be shocked that she's declared this as a gifted product after months and months of blatantly shoehorning them into every single video undeclared. But don't worry, Ruby hasn't gone and learned a lesson or anything crazy like that.

The only reason that Ruby has declared this is because Holly declared a gifted ad for them a few days ago, making it incredibly hard for Ruby to advertise them undeclared yet again.

6565756566576645680=909809847879-98779.jpg

Holly's also not being entirely honest - Misfits have been providing Sixteenth "talent" with gifted crap for ages, so this isn't a new thing. It's also not an unbiased opinion if you were gifted the product, and stressing that it's not sponsored means nothing. If you were gifted the product, that's a form of payment. But at least she did the bare minimum and declared it as gifted, I guess.

Back to Ruby's bag, it's unsurprisingly full of clutter.

Talc powder, an entire bottle of shampoo, notepads, a "sweatSHART", a gigantic "wyartuh bottuww", random scrunchies, a small child's ballet socks, a fucking first aid kit and other assorted bullshit.

6565756566576645680=9098098478789765569-98779 copy.png

Oh, and a lavender eye mask for some reason. "You put it over your eyes." Yeah, no shit, Sherlock.

6565756566576645680=90980984345378765569-98779.jpg

Yet another outfit change, this time for Bite Back, a "Shark Conversation" charity. Don't forget, sharks are people, too. If you have a friend who's a shark who you haven't spoken to in a while, why not reach out and talk to them? If you have elderly shark neighbours who don't get out of the house, drop by and chat with them. A little conversation can really make a big difference for any aquatic creatures who are struggling in their day-to-day life.

6565756566576645680=9098098434567575378765569-98779.jpg

That "Smile, Smile, Smile" song that Ruby hasn't stopped using in every video for years is reused again to soundtrack footage of Ruby looking dishevelled and miserable as she films herself wandering the streets, without the bag she spent an entire section of the video telling us she was taking with her. Whoops.

6565756566576645680=9098098434567556756775378765569-98779.jpg

Ruby does more bad trampolining, and is constantly fucking up her landings. Not-so-coincidentally, she hasn't eaten anything all "day", supposedly felt ill from exhaustion earlier this "day" and only took a ten minute rest, and now has no coordination. I'm sure those things aren't related, though...

6565756566576645680=9098098434567556756775778989989378765569-98779.jpg

She films herself "leaving", and it's clearly the same shot as before. She just did her usual lazy, insane habit of setting up the camera on the floor, leaving it unattended and then just walking up and down the street, back and forth in different directions, cutting it up and presenting it as different shots.

6565756566576645680=90980984345675567567757989378765569-98779.jpg

She gets home and is in like the 57th outfit of the day.

Remember, the key to being VARRY PRODUCTIVE is to just LOVE AVVERYTHING THAT YOU DYOO and that way, it will not feel like WAHHRK. It has nothing to do with lying about the timescales of everything and the amount that you accomplish. It's just about enjoying your work, just like Ruby very clearly is here.

If you don't look like this when you're having fun and enjoying things, you're clearly doing something wrong:

walterdandy-funny-face.gif

The narration reappears out of nowhere, as if Ruby suddenly remembered that this was a documentary or something.

Ruby's just repeating the exact same things over and over, though: "UNI IS ENDING! IT'S VARRY HARD BECAUSE I...AM SO IMMARSED IN ACADEMIC CULTURE. WHATAVVER WILL OIY DYOO?!"

Again, Ruby's done everything she can to avoid university culture, avoid other students, avoid campus, avoid the city her university is located and avoid doing any university work of her own. She is in no way immersed in university culture other than the superficial, fake personality she's crafted for herself as a supposedly studious genius.

6565756566576645680=9098098434567558086756775778989989378765569-98779.jpg

Get the fuck out of here with this bullshit, Ruby.

This isn't food. This is a small sandwich diced into fractions with half a carrot chopped and positioned nearby.

If you'd had two full meals in this day, this might qualify as a snack. As your main meal, this is dangerously fucking stupid. Stop showing this shit, you unfathomable cretin.

6565756566576645680=9098098434567558086756775809778989989378765569-98779.jpg

After all the meandering drivel Ruby has been droning about this being her laaahst day with her laaahst "samminar", Blakeney casually reminds her that they have another seminar on Friday.

6565756566576645680=909809843456755808675677580989787778989989378765569-98779.jpg

Ruby puts on her "ACKSHUALLY..." face.

"BOTT IT'S NOT A SAMMINAR, IT'S A WAHHRKSHOP." And then she looked VARRY smug, even though a seminar is basically just a workshop for students to discuss shit.

6565756566576645680=90980984345675580867567758068989787778989989378765569-98779.jpg

"I dyooo feel like I'm raddy tyoo finish moiy degreee..." Ruby says after spending an entire video saying the opposite.

6565756566576645680=909809848980345675580867567758068989787778989989378765569-98779.jpg

After 10 minutes of recycled garbage, incompetent filmmaking and meandering, go-nowhere diatribes, Ruby decided this bullshit wasn't long enough, so she'd gonna slap even more rehashed crap on the dumpster fire.

"Boht I didn't QUITE manage to film a full night routine..." I mean, that's never stopped you before. You've never filmed a night routine in a single night, Ruby. You just stitch them together from old random footage.

6565756566576645680=909809848980380980945675580867567758068989787778989989378765569-98779.jpg

Ruby is dressed like some kind of creepy, knockoff Christmas nutcracker decoration you'd find in your grandparents' attic or something.

s-l400.jpg

Yet again, she conveniently ate a big lunch off-screen, so it's time for Ruby to do her approximation of washing her "TOPPERWAHRE".

6565756566576645680=90980984898038098094567558086756775865757068989787778989989378765569-98779.jpg

Unsurprisingly, Ruby just gives the inside of the bowl and the lid a quick scrub, but doesn't even attempt to clean the outside, despite her grubby hands being all over it, it being shoved in a dank and dusty bag and touching all manner of filth along the way. She thinks that time-lapsing the footage will fool people into thinking she's being super busy and thorough, but sorry, Ruby, you're not fooling anyone, you still live like a swamp troll.

6565756566576645680=90980984898038098094567558086756789777586575706898978777898998937879965569...png

The absolute state of this place...

She chugs some water and then goes to retrieve her mug to wash that, too.

65657868689-98779.jpg

She rinses it with water, gives the inside and one small lip-sized section of the rim a quick wipe and that's it.

So it's no great shock that the now "clean" mug looks like this:

65657868809809689-98779.png

Rancid and stained, nobody should be drinking from this.

Ruby complains that the tea tastes soapy. She claims to have cleaned it too much and just not rinsed it well enough.

After a second, off-screen clean, it still looks like this:

6565786880987998779.jpg

What a ghastly little goblin she is.

And don't forget, this is her routine. So every night, she drinks soapy tea and fails to clean anything despite several attempts, apparently.

65657868809980987998779.jpg

She shows off yet another snack bar. Given everything we know about Ruby, this is yet another undeclared ad. It's also all she eats.

7987879798.jpg

After that, she watches a YouTube video by Lydia Violetta. I've never heard of her before, but looking at her YouTube channel, she's a young blond StudyTuber with an apparent eating disorder, so Ruby's still incapable of engaging with anyone or anything that's not all about her, identical to her or that she can steal ideas and inspiration from.

79878790998.png

She claims to then be "stoddying", but she has notes for her own book open, so her dissertation is a lost cause at this point.

And then, once again, she tells us that she and Blakeney cooked a big, substantial meal together...

"BOHTT! I...DIDN'T film that." The weird "but" is absolutely fucking deafening. Learn to edit Ruby, damn.

And, big surprise, all Ruby's big, nutritious meals conveniently don't get filmed, or her camera dies, or her mum fell down the stairs, or she discovered she has a sister, or something beyond her control prevented her from filming it.

5765675.jpg

Ruby continues her unrelenting campaign of stupidity by once again climbing all over her desk to close her curtains even though they're in arm's reach while sat at the desk.

59-0-0765674565.jpg

I mean, look at this shit. Her arms are bent 90 degrees at the elbow and her hands are past the middle of the desk. You'd have to work hard not to touch the curtains when leaning across the desk. The desk also isn't especially wide, so you could also lean around it to close them. There's zero need to traverse the desk like a malnourished mountain climber to close the curtains. What a fucking moron.

59-0-0765675.jpg

And then she reveals that she's got yet another weird stash of food and drink squirreled away in her room.

Ruby, this is what kitchen cupboards are for. You're not living in prison. Blakeney's not going to steal all your food and shiv you in the kitchen.

But I guess Ruby wouldn't feel like a child at boarding school if she didn't stash food contraband in her sock drawer.

59-0-076567456456465.jpg

She then confirms once and for all - not that any confirmation were needed - that she has no clue what "admin" means.

"These are just small tahhhsks - things that don't necessarily need that much brainpower but equally are important."

59-0-076567459-99-096456465.jpg

Ruby hilariously claims she's ready to graduate from uni when she doesn't seem educated beyond the level of the average 11 year old.

Ruby, perhaps it's time to just stop making videos altogether and start learning basic foundation stuff.

Here's a book that would be perfect for your intelligence level:

can't wait to read all the boot-licking responses
"Have some patience! Ruby is very busy with her studies, and she's 7th Level Cottagecore now - she can only communicate via telegrams and wax-sealed communiqués (or çomminùqouęsés, for the "correct" Ruby-approved spelling/pronunciation) and those take time to arrive to more modern civilized eras!"

It probably took her months to make, because it took that long to record all the random clips she needed for a decent video length - just look at the number of outfit changes in the video. I genuinely think she just records random stuff over a time period and then thinks of themes under which to mash them together, until "Look at this video I've been working on!"

EDIT: Because I have a lot of time on my hands, I went through the video and counted the number of different outfits: there are 9 outfits altogether, although due to lighting/weather I can tell that some outfits appearing more then once were worn on different days, hence the mashup of clips.
You hit the nail on the head. This is 100% the case.

It's why she doesn't post videos about anything new, or topics she hasn't discussed before - she's already drinking tea in the most pompous way possible every day, like a tottler having a tea party with her dolls, so she has tonnes of footage of that from over the months/years to cobble into a video.

If she did a video on Victorian letter writing (which will probably happen at some point) it'd be the same deal - she's got so many unused clips of her writing bad calligraphy and putting shoddy wax seals on envelopes that she'd throw together a "new" video with minimum effort.

It also continues her new gaslighting tactic: All the footage is from random points all over the past several months, so her weight loss is apparent, and then suddenly she looks healthier. It's a continued attempt to trick you into second-guessing and thinking "Oh, she's not lost as much weight as I thought, she looks healthier in this shot. Must be the angles/lighting." Her weight fluctuates even in the same shot where she's assembled two of her side by side.

Untitled001.jpg

She's also assembled the more recent, thinner on the left, to reverse the standard 'before on the left, after on the right' visual chronology your brain is used to seeing/reading in pictures - your eye's drawn to the left/centre first, then to the right, so your brain assumes the right-hand picture takes place after the other. Although since she generally doesn't know anything about basic framing, composition or visual storytelling despite several years as a filmmaker, this element could be a complete coincidence.

Also, "ceremonial tea" sounds like some weird ritual where she drinks sacrificial yak blood from an old goblet in the woods to summon a pagan god. It's just evening tea, Ruby, it's not The Wicker Man - stop saying "ceremonial tea"!

Ruby "eats" bread and "jam":

Untitled0.jpg

...Ruby, just because the plate says "jam" on it, doesn't mean that anything you place on it becomes jam. You might've daydreamed a lot about attending Hogwarts, but magical food alchemy is not a thing in the real world. This looks like something you scooped out of a toilet.

Ruby had the entire internet and an editing software suite at her disposal and the only means she could come up with to show Victorian people drinking tea was printing three wonkily-cut pictures out and filming them on a table. She could've superimposed images on screen. She could've - shock, horror - inserted clips from any number of period dramas/movies which featured a Victorian tea party - fair use allows documentarians to do that easily. I guess that would required some small amount of effort though. And where would she find the time? She only had months to work on this...

Ahhh, yes, that classic, traditional Victorian English dinner: Spaghetti Bolognese. Probably to be followed by the period-appropriate dessert of Mountain Dew and a tub of Ben 'n' Jerry's with a side of Skittles.

And now she's just recycling footage from that Victorian routine video she did. Just because you use footage from something else you made months ago, doesn't mean you spent months working on this video, Ruby. You cobbled this shit together in a few hours.

In fairness to Ruby, this video does actually have some educational value. For instance, I genuinely had no idea Jammie Dodgers biscuits were around in Victorian times! (Googles) "The Jammie Dodger, a shortbread biscuit with a jam filling, was introduced in 1966." Oh. Well. Never mind, then.

She can't insert proper images and visual aids in her video, but she can put footnotes? This isn't an essay, Ruby. If it were, you'd have failed already.

"In a wonderful essay by Mary E. Heath, which I will leave linked down below..."

Where's the link? Citation needed, Rubes. Must try harder.

"Core-dee-al-ee." Nope. Try again. Cordially is pronounced "corejally." Free tip: You can Google words and their pronunciation is right there for you to hear! That or you could pay attention in class or during conversations instead of just waiting for your opportunity to speak? Just a thought.

And now she's randomly talking off-camera. For someone who's supposedly all about etiquette, you should know to look at people when you're talking to them. You're talking directly to an audience. If you change camera angles, change where you're looking, too, so your eyeline meets the audience. This is the equivalent of standing up in front of a class to do an oral presentation, then turning and talking to the fire exit the whole time.

"G***y table." Um...Hey, Rubes? Maybe don't use ethnic slurs, m'kay? If the Entomological Society of America can change the name of entire species of moths and ants to remove that offensive term to reflect the times, you can maybe take 5 seconds to be more conscious of what you say. You worked on this for months, after all, right? You had time to check your language. You might love pretending to be in the Victorian era, but we're living in the 21st Century now. Living in a fantasy world is no excuse for ignorance and racism. I remember someone once said it's important "to be careful with your words, what [you] say to somebody and make sure [you] say the right things and don't offend somebody." I forget who said that. Oh, I remember now! It was you, in a video about bullying.

"Here you see a fake flower display; fresh flowers were a staple part of the Victorian table." Probably should've used fresh flowers, then, eh? "These were used to show social status." How so? Was the size of the display the indicator of your status? The freshness of the flowers? The rarity? If you had fake flowers on the table, would they run you out of town with pitchforks? More information required.

What happened in the whole upper right area? They almost all look like crap considering you used a cutter, but what happened here:

Move over, Nigella Lawson - there's a new chef in town:

Absolutely fucking smashed it, Rubert. Bravo. I know when I have months to prepare for something, I don't waste time trying again to improve. That shit's for suckers. I just lose interest halfway, sling a mess in the oven and proudly present whatever dumpster fire comes out the other side. That's also what the upper class Victorians loved about dinner parties: Getting served low-effort mess that looks like a baked tumour.

"What actually is a Victoria Sponge Cake?" Ruby Granger, asking the tough questions. She should never have given up on that philosophy degree - she's really grasping the core tenets of human existentialism here.

"When researching, I was shocked by how little food was vegetarian." Ruby, you're supposedly a Victorian scholar. An expert in the era. It's all you talk about. Why are you shocked by that? It's common knowledge. I mean, I know next to nothing about Victorian era, but even I know that meat comprised most meals and was typically enjoyed by the wealthier classes. Isn't it why gout is called "the rich man's disease", because it's largely caused by eating a disproportionate amount of meat, seafood and alcohol - a hedonistic lifestyle enjoyed by the wealthy?

And now she's repeating the same footage of cutout photos being placed on a grimy table. Months, she was working on this. Months!

"There were etiquebbles surrounding what you could talk about." Umm...what? Does she mean equitable? Because that's not a noun, and it's also not pronounced remotely like that, or used that way? Is there a word that I'm missing, or is this another blatant Rubyism? Any ideas, Tattlers? (11:50)

And of course, The Secret Garden is shoehorned in.

"Stay tuned for my next Victorian video." Oh god, please stop. No more.
