This "story" has more holes than a fishing net (an item which seems apt given the way it was brought to public attention)!

A few thoughts:

We can only real judge whether the BBC handled the situation correctly if we know what they were told or shown in this "hour long meeting". It appears they weren't given anything to identify or contact the young person. They were told the police had advised the stepdad nothing illegal had occurred. The mum/parents said they didn't want an investigation, just for 'payments to stop'. It doesn't seem that they were provided with any hard evidence of illegal activity on the part of their employee either.
So whatever action they took (which we'll probably never know) had to be a balance between the available evidence and their duty of care to their employee. That's probably why no suspension took place until 'new evidence came to light' (presumably the Sun's sworn affidavits from the parents, even though we don't know exactly what's in them).

The actual facts of the case are few and far between but it does point to a divided family - a he said/she said situation where parents were trying to intervene in an adult child's life and that intervention was/is unwelcome, particularly since they took the nuclear option of going to a tabloid.

It's interesting that the parents say they were privy to several phone calls between the young person and the presenter if this distrust existed. The snippets mentioned actually point to the presenter trying to distance themselves from the young person, but if another payment was made in June, does that suggest blackmail was taking place? And the nugget that the presenter "tried" to meet the young person at a railway station in May. For what reason? And why didn't they succeed? The Sun sure as hell would have been shouting about a 'sordid secret liaison' if they did!

Purely my opinion: the parents might well have been at the end of their tether but they've been naive at best in how they’ve handled things. They don't come across as particularly clued up as to how employers (or tabloids!) operate. It feels like they're now being manipulated by the Sun, whose agenda is very different. The Sun don't care about the wishes or needs of the family as long as they can stir up anti-BBC sentiment and distract from the misdeeds of Johnson, Osborne etc. The many male TV stars whose names have been dragged through the mud are collateral damage too. The BBC aren't responsible for that happening and, like I've already said, they have a duty of care to the presenter involved, so naming him isn't really an option if no criminality has been established.

Final thought (again purely speculative on my part): it's possible the presenters wife was aware of his bisexual leanings and tolerated him getting his jollies online. You never know what goes on behind closed doors. The real harm & humiliation can come about (or be made a 1000x worse) when the doors are blown off.

Whatever the actual dynamics are, it's just a total mess all round which has caused a world of hurt for both families. And for what reason...?

The moral of the story is don't fancy a man.
Yeah true I'm basically the Mollie of this thread,
I've already sent my card details, sort code and account number to Harry and I'm 99% he's coming round mine for a shag after uncloaked, can't see any reason why he'd let me down .

We still have no proof he has done anything wrong and yet he’s the subject of a national witch hunt.

To be a mental health inpatient in hospital is serious, I hope he is ok. His poor family.

She looked so nervous on Uncloaked, bless her. Who amongst us can say we haven’t had poorly informed crushes?! None of ours has been so horrendously broadcast for the nations entertainment!

This doesn’t mean I retract any statements calling her thick. That would be insincere.
She is thick regardless of the crush on Harry.

Between the two, how the hell can Jaz be the Traitor if he was the one voting for another banishment? Why would a Traitor do that in the final 3 and risk getting banished? The Traitor would be the person voting for endgame because they will get the £££!!!

Throughout the season Mollie made no strategic decisions and was carried all the way to the final by stronger players. Even when the right decision required very little thinking she couldn't put two and two together. Plus she couldn't give a fuck Jaz got screwed as a fateful, cheesing and grinning that she was going to go halfsies with Harry.

So I remain glad she got £0.

Bloody pathetic
Books himself into mental health care to escape the flak
Sorry but depression doesn't make one want nude photos from young men. I know it can exacerbate risky behaviours he didnt suddenly develop a penchant for young men!
His poor wife and 5 kids If shes got any sense she'll divorce him
being gay and not out isn’t illegal. Paying for sexual images of consensual of age adults is not illegal. Yet people on here , Twitter etc have said he’s the next jimmy Saville, feel sick that he’s ever visited or been around children etc

Fair enough if having a picture of your arse leaked, being called a nonce and being falsely accused of paying for underage porn wouldn’t affect your mental health but clearly it has his .

He’s still going to be investigated by the bbc so I don’t think he’s just pretending to have depression to get out of it 🤷‍♀️

With this talk of 'hiding that he is gay' - we don't know that he is actually gay... remember bisexuality and pansexuality exist. There is nothing to suggest he doesn't still love and find his wife attractive until he says as such.

I think some of them must have met before, because I think the speed in which they forge friendships and trust is quite terrifying if not. ‘LOOK ME IN THE EYES AND TELL ME YOU ARE FAITHFUL I COULDNT TAKE IT IF YOU WERE A TRAITOR 😭😭

I’d be like calm down love I’ve not even taken my coat off yet.

@ImNotJeremyVine you joined this site at the weekend, since when you've posted 150 posts, almost all of them extremely long, and all of them on one subject only.

Yeah. Totally normal forum behaviour.
Playing devils advocate, and as someone who joined in 2021 so who definitely didn’t join for this thread… didn’t we all join at one point for something? Let’s be real, Tattle can be very addictive. I dunno, I guess I just don’t like the calling out of new members for being new 🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe you’re right, but could easily just be someone who has got very into the gossip of this thread.

Christ I wouldn’t want to see some of you on a jury, you’ve seen no evidence he has done anything wrong and yet you’re all ready to lock him up.
