Recap:

- The police (both the Metropolitan Police and South Wales Police) announced that no further action will be taken. They have no reason to believe a criminal offence has been committed.

- The wife of Huw Edwards released a statement confirming that he is the person at the centre of the story.

- She also confirmed that Huw has been hospitalised and is experiencing a serious mental health episode. Huw has a long-documented history of mental ill-health.

- Many people feel incredibly sorry for Huw and feel it is inappropriate for someone’s legal and consensual sexual activity to have been dragged out as a massive national “scandal”.

- Some people find it incredulous that a person who has been falsely accused of being a child sex offender across the internet and media would experience a mental health episode. They think that Huw is making it up (!!!) but have presented no evidence to support this claim.

- Already, this is widely considered to be a very dark episode for the tabloid press and social media. The ramifications from this mess could be massive.

- Jon Sopel, Emily Maitlis, Alastair Campbell and John Simpson are among those who have released supportive messages about Huw.

Do you know what I fucking love about the modern world and the internet? Shitheads like this can no longer sweep it under the rug and pay people off with hush money anywhere near as easily.

Just a few thoughts:

- The Sun were careless at best and downright manipulative at worst by never acknowledging that the young person had contacted them to deny the illegality or inappropriateness of the relationship. What shoddy “journalism”.

- A man’s life and career has likely been ruined for no good reason.

- “It might not be illegal but he’s still a wrong-un!” - er… no. Nobody should lose their job or be publicly shamed because the conduct of their sex life doesn’t pass the “Sue from Stoke-on-Trent Morality Clause”.

- The conspiracies about a “pay out” to the young person are insane. Why would the BBC risk Savile 2.0? And, if this all happened online, the evidence would all be there in black and white for the police to investigate and even they think this is a waste of time.

- Given the circumstance and what we know, I think The BBC have handled this relatively well.

- The whole things is a shitshow.

Can I be a twat and ask that we don’t slag the Mrs looks off please? Poor mare is probably having a right mare of a time and this is the last thing she needs. Not like she’s reading Tattle... but you know, bit shitty.

Not policing... just asking nicely 💜

I was positively gleeful when Schofield got his comeuppance... but for some reason I can't shake feeling a knot in my stomach over this. Is it just me / am I being too sentimental? Maybe it's just because I always felt like Schofe was a nasty snake in all his interactions with others, but I didn't get the same feeling from someone that simply read out the news.

From Sophie's reaction when announcing that he'd been named, and his wife's statement, I do think it's possible he made an attempt on his own life before going into in-patient treatment.

My thoughts are with his family right now, and I do hope he can stabilise and find a way to move forward. It really does feel like an earth-shattering thing to happen... imagine being compared to Jimmy Saville, after police have said there's no current evidence of any crime? If the Beeb investigation (even without any illegal aspect) finds any wrong-doing, I hope the victims are supported and get the justice they deserve, too. Let's see what opening the flood gates brings out...

I'm very curious about the first young person, and the estranged relationship with their mother/step-father. For some reason, even with so little information, I'm side-eyeing the mother here. Something feels toxic. Hopefully we don't learn more so the young person can keep their anonymity in tact.

I wonder which other TV personalities out there are hiding that they are gay? It seems to be so incredibly damaging for some who have had to hide who they are... not only for their own mental health, but for innocent family and other individuals that get caught up in it along the way, too. It feels like it having to be a "dirty little secret" then becomes a self-fulfilling loop where successively darker aspects get folded into the mix over time.

Also... Obligatory fuck The S*n.

Carry on…

TLDR:

In the last thread we were introduced to Huw Edwards’ possibly photoshopped bottom. We all had a lovely and unexpected time.

Names crossed off the nonce list are:

- Graham Norton
- Clive Myrie
- Jeremy Vine
- Gary Lineker
- Paddy McGuiness
- Stephen Nolan
- Basically everyone
- Alexander Armstrong
- Richard Osman

Names still on the list are:
- Huw Edwards
- Fireman Sam

And no, the dog was not wet.

I don’t think she’s named him out of spite, I think she’s just done it on his behalf as he’s in hospital with serious mental health issues

I know he has had mental health issues, and I feel for anyone who has had depression and suicidal thoughts. But he can’t mask behaving inappropriately and intimidating much younger men (some younger than his own son) under the guise of MH issues either. Take some accountability

BBC are reportedly naming the male in question today.

Huw Edwards’ Instagram account has been deleted as of around 5pm today, but his Twitter account is still there.

The naked bum photo has been shared already.

Can we not with the "child porn" please, it's not the right term, child sex abuse imagery accurately describes it. Porn is made by consenting adults.
