I too have not seen it, but have heard some of the songs and seen the bits I have seen on telly (Oliviers, Night of Musicals etc) and it doesn't look worth it to me either. My daughter gets cheap access tickets and we may go at some point - but it really doesn't appeal that much from what I have seen. The Producers though - ! I have been recommending it to everyone. They had 100 tickets for £19.26 to celebrate Mel Brook's 100 birthday and we were row C stalls for less than £20 each. There are often very good deals for that and it is very very very funny and it is closing in September so go and see that while you can.
I bought some of the £19.26 tickets but have requested to exchange them and it offered me December! Are you sure it’s closing? I absolutely love this production, I just can’t go for the time I’d booked.

My take on Paddington was the bear was done very well but it was overly long. Needs 2-3 songs cut for length, kids in the audience got antsy by the end.Someone tell me it's not worth paying £100+ for paddington tickets
The songs are decent but not memorable.
Oh and there's a plot point which is never finished off (about the daughter having a crush on a boy)... Gets mentioned early on and completely forgotten about in the 2nd half!
But it's very enjoyable!

I enjoyed Paddington more than I was expecting to, I thought the bear was very well done and the cast were great. I wouldn’t pay £100 to see it again however, but am grudgingly recommending it to others.
Was also lucky enough to see JCS last night for the first preview, Sam Ryder lived up to the hype and there were some other great performances too from Pilate and Simon particularly. I’m doing the on-stage standing next month and looking forward to being right in the midst of things, from what I could see one side gets a much better view than the other and some of the standees clearly hasn’t read the instructions about wearing dark clothing, one turned up in an England football shirt which was really distracting and he was reportedly made to stand at the back for the second half. Hopefully they’ll sort this out for the next performances and not let people on stage if they can’t follow the dress code.

Yeah I get access tickets, they're a god send but Paddington is still coming up as expensive even with the access card.
This country is horrendous at the moment, in every direction.
Theatre audiences have become so bad that I know of an usher who got assaulted and had to go to hospital.
I'm a broken record when I say this but things did not used to be this way. Things like this were rare enough to be extremely shocking. Now it feels par for the course which is mad!
Hope whatever happened the performer will be ultimately okay, I'm sick of how we can't even do stuff like being at work or daily errands without someone who should probably already be locked up going feral.
One of them got bottled on the way to Trafalgar Square. I don’t know all the details but that’s what I heard through the theatre grapevine

I'm feeling very sympathetic to anyone who works in theatre in this heat. Many of those buildings still don't/can't have air conditioning. Being in costume under lights right now? I hope they are drinking lots of water and taking what breaks they can!
dont forget the techs nd front of house, they're melting too - some areas f the theatres arent very well aircondiioned - if at all! - and not

The rules should be relaxed for the hot days. I've been to the theatre when warm as an audience member dressed comfortably, I always feel awful for the staff in their elaborate uniforms. Would anyone care if they had a 'casual' version to wear when it's 30c and above?
Ah I just looked and it's part of the Nederlander group - not surprised, American companies always seem faintly surprised by the existence of workers' rights...
There have been Americans in Youtube comment sections about other countries work culture that they don't even want workers rights. They act like it's some sort of communist ideal, it's wild.
Ironic given how insanely unionised the American live events/theatre+broadway/film studio industries are, to the point of making it too expensive to film things like Hadestown on Broadway so it was done in London instead. However unionisation there is more about locking jobs down to certain approved sets of people rather than workers’ rights as we know them here.
