On a completely different note, High Society is the most purely enjoyable show I’ve seen in a very long time.
I'm 67 and hearing the N word being used as 'casually' as it is in the play is quite shocking. I think it's an important play for younger people to see so that they can understand what it was like in the relatively recent past. My grandson is 13 and mixed race, and I know that the language, and events, would shock him, but I would take him to see it. There were quite a lot of older school children that had been taken to see the matinee by their schools at the performance I went to.
Definitely, 100% agree . My daughters studied the book in school in the US and it’s my favourite book, it’s a masterpiece, which despite being written in the 60’s is still sadly relevant today. Aaron Sorkin who has adapted the book has clearly pointed this out in his writing that society isn’t that different today. It’s very powerful and the whole theatre was on its feet as soon as the curtain came down.
I replied to the posters question with a snippet of the book/play so they could decide if it was suitable for their 11yr old.
The book is banned in some US districts in the US.
My friend that I saw it with cried her eyes out, and like when you saw it, there was a standing ovation as soon as it finished. It blew my mind when I found out it is still banned in parts of the States.
I think, obviously depending on the 11 year old, that I would consider taking them to see it.
That great to hear am going to try catch it in Glasgow but Helen george is only doing tues-thurs here according to the kings website. It doest bother who in it as I enjoy the film.

Little Britain was sometimes mildly funny to me but gold old quickly.
When he was Thenardier in Les Mis, it was more about Matt Lucas as Thenardier than a performer truly becoming the character, imho. I would not personally choose to see a show just on his name.

I do not find him funny at all. Must note not to see Oliver in that time
I got to see Oliver when Rowan Atkinson was in it and while he leaned into Mr. Bean a bit for fan service, he was really wonderful. I wish there was a slime tutorial out there so I could enjoy it again. That whole production was fantastic.
I’d like to see that too. I searched for recordings a while back but couldn’t find any.
I’ve listed to the soundtrack from that production a lot and Jodie Prenger is fabulous!
Everyone was amazing.
A special standout to me was Burn Gorman as Bill Sykes, he was so bleeping creepy - I loved it!
Has anyone seen Beetlejuice yet, daughter really wants to see if during the summer, I want to set expectations!
I've seen slime tutorials of the Broadway version, it's great fun!
I loved it. I wore my Loops as the sound levels are high, and there is a fair bit of strobe, but less than what was on Broadway from my comparison with the Broadway slime.
It's high-energy and very entertaining though!! Extremely silly but with some great vocals.

Just a warning beetlejuice humour is quite adult (the film is a 15) though my 12 year old was fine and enjoyed it so much we are going again in August. Both films are 12A rated in the UK. She was fine with both of them
I hated that bleeping curtain. It’s the touring version so the house doesn’t do all the cool stuff, and the Maitlands’ death is just disappointingly reworked. (Show me a touring venue that DOESN’T have a trap door?!)
Cast were all great with the slight exception of David Fynn, I found his Beetlejuice more annoying than creepy? But YMMV.
The script and score remain excellent. Has your daughter listened to the cast album or watched a Slime Tutorial?
Just saw that she’s 8: I wouldn’t take an 8-y-o to this, there’s swearing and a lotta sex jokes. But you know your kid and what they can handle.
Yes there are a few sex jokes, a scene where the dad and his gf have just had sex and brief drugs jokes (taking a line of coke and mention of ketamine) in Beetlejuice.
