Im waiting to hear reports on Beetlejuice before booking. Especially on the physical production. The original broadway set was one of its big selling points. Rumour is we are getting a touring ready set, so curious how that is

I'm certain their entries in the programme still had some reference to Pain and Panic but my copy is in London and I'm not so I can't check. But yea in the show they were introduced as Bob and Charles. Which made no sense but I assume someone thought would be funny.
Why on earth did they do that? The whole point of them being named ‘Pain’ & ‘Panic’ is that they're minions of the dark side. Why rename them after two random blokes?
Apparently the German version have them down as Karl and Heinz.
From what I can glean off reviews, it's because the producers thought the shapeshifting would be impossible to do onstage, so instead of just having them in their normal form for the whole show, they made them into... two men.
A lot of decisions made for this show sound nonsensical tbh. No Pegasus either! And that would be easy enough to do with the funding Disney has, surely they could at least do a large wheelbarrow-style puppet like the goose in War Horse, or a body puppet like the hyenas in Lion King.
Guess they spent all the money on the other puppets that ARE in the show, there's various giant rat like things running around and the hydra scene (though most of that was people manipulating individual hydra heads on poles
)I did think the Vortex was very well done, albeit just a cone laser, a big fan in the floor, and some ultra lightweight fabric pieces chucked into it

Had my first ever show stop yesterday at Oliver. It's done so flawlessly. Although I believe it was done so they didn't have to restart the second act completely. They had the bed (but no Oliver in it) and they started singing the 'where is love (reprise)' and then someone came on stage and she went off.
We were told technical difficulties but after about 10 mins a new Oliver came on and the scene restarted. I hope the first boy playing Oliver was okay. Seemed an odd place to switch him out as he's not on until then so could have possibly been done in the interval ect? But then I'm unsure what actually happened to cause the show stop.

What are everyone's thoughts about the Olivier noms today? Any big surprises or anything you thought should have been nominated and wasn't?

Surprised for Corbin, but good for him. Especially beating Jamie M to a nomination.
Pleased Into the woods got so many nominations and I hope it wins revival, especially over Evita which i thought was all style of substance.
I hope Rachel Ziegler doesnt win actress, but sadly I think thats unlikely.
I suspect Paddington will probably sweep the awards

Leslie Odom Jr is doing a limited Hamilton run in London from June. Have seen it twice but youngest daughter is now old enough to appreciate it so might have to get in the scrum for tickets. Would love to hear him do Wait for It.

Jamie probably cancelled himself out, with MAAN and Evita.
Agreed re Paddington. IMO, and my opinion only, I don’t think any other new musical stands a chance in that particular category.
