Mind you, the productions she gets these days are definitely not the top end productions.
So we have 6 Herods then! Mr Flamingo is seeing the show with Layton Williams. His mother is happy, she loved him in strictly 
Simon Russell Beale is an interesting one. I don’t have him down as musical theatre actor. Classically trained Shakespearean yes, but who knew! It’ll be interesting for sure.

Ive got Boy George. Not happy (how is he even getting work), but I guess at least it isnt Layton.
Its a really odd line up as Richard and SRB arent really the ott campness that the character (especially in this production) does

I suspect RA might surprise us. not sure about SRB although his turn in Death of Stalin was hilarious.
slightly nervous for Sam here to be honest. His first MT role and to have to work with lots of different people might be unsettling?
I think Sam will probably be fine as Herod is such a small role eith little stage time or interaction
Considering how well its selling already im surprised they've gone with all this stunt casting
I've got Jesse and Julian Clary (although if Tom Francis gets cast as Judas then every chance I will spend all my money on weekly tickets and end up seeing them all).
The BBC have used him several times in different Sondheim-themed proms. He was also involved in Cameron Mackintosh's "Old Friends" Sondheim concert, maybe just the very first "one night only" rather than the subsequent extended run, I'm not sure. Can't be worse than when they cast Alice Cooper
. I grew up with the VHS video recording of the show so most people are hard to beat when they are being compared to Rik Mayall (right amount of funny, OTT and slightly sinister). Chris Moyles did a good job (and they updated the role to suit a more modern audience with the stuff they had on screens) but Alice Cooper was god awful.

With all the focus on sexual abuse that’s gone on by rich men, why cast boy George who went to prison for chaining up and sexually assaulting a sex worker?
Since it’s a small role I do quite like the idea of different Herods. I’ve got Jesse which I’m quite happy about but would love to see Julian Clary.
Yeah but without that no one would know who he is. Strictly made him a bigger name. And to a large degree the whole thing is stunt casting/a gimmick anyway.
Also having seen him on stage im not sure his past credentials would be a selling point.
I saw Julian Clary in the UK tour, he was fine, but not as good as i was expecting
whenever I have to explain to my Mum who Layton is - she only knows him as Kylie from Beautiful People and still thinks he's a kid!
Went to see Hercules recently.
Can see how it's never made a particularly long run, the story is naff. But I did really enjoy the Muses, the effects and the songs (which were performed much better live than the TV Appearances early last year)

I LOVED that show, it was so good! I know he divides opinions but I'm glad Layton has gone on to have such a great career.
Yeah, unfortunately it's not as good on stage as other Disney adaptations but the muses and the guy playing Hercules make the show.
Theres a great show in there, but Disney clearly didn't want to spend the time and money on it. But with such strong songs and high energy, its still a fun time
