I’ve got people coming to the ceremony that I’ve never even met 😱 (they are my fiancés uncles and aunties so we couldn’t leave them out) and at night I have a few people I’ve never met, plus I’m letting people have a plus one.
However, I’m having a “traditional” wedding and I have the space for 200 guests at night, so it’s not really an issue.

if I was having a gathering in my garden then yes I would be a lot more choosey about who gets an invite! Plus it’s YOUR wedding, you can invite whoever and do whatever you want, you’re paying!
Thank you all, I know it’s my day but I’m a sucker for pleasing people! This is one of the reasons it’s take us so long to sort a wedding because I didn’t want other peoples opinions (and my mum has a lot)! I’m only inviting two out of 8 aunts and uncles and that’s all for my wider family plus my fiancés grandparents but then his mum isn’t invited so that’s a whole other thing! I don’t want to spend my time making small talk with people I don’t know! 😂 We’re only really doing the party to please people as we are having 4 guests at our actual wedding!

What do you guys think about not inviting people other half’s? We are having a very small post wedding garden party for about 40 people and we have always said, no partners, especially if we haven’t met them. One of my oldest friends is pregnant with a guy I’ve met for 5 minutes and my mum had a bee in her bonnet about me not inviting him, especially as the baby will have been born by the wedding. I’ve caved on this one but haven’t invited other people partners. I have been with Mr Bloggs for over 12 years and the few weddings I’ve been too (hardly anyone I know is married 😂) only I’ve been invited, except for family weddings.

If we were having a traditional wedding reception I’d get it, but we’re not. It’s at our house and space is limited and I want to share it with people I know not their partner I’ve never met. Most people know each other’s so no one will be alone per say.
We’re inviting partners of family members and close friends. My fiancé has a huge family so has said he wants to invite partners of people who have them, but not just give out plus ones to everyone which I agree with. One of my friends asked if I’d give her a plus one “just in case”!

I think if you’re limited on numbers though it’s fair enough to choose who you want there.

I'm having a small wedding myself - just 70 people but I given the single people plus ones so they have a choice. Our mother's are both widows and getting plus ones. Whether they will bring a friend or not. I just like having someone to go with friend or partner it's nice to go with someone. Unless it's a big group of frirnds or work Colleagues that's different. But it's all your own personal perference
Question, what are peoples opinion on a Crepe cart for the evening instead of a buffet?
Oh sounds delicious

Oooh it’s a tricky and difficult one isn’t it.

I am having a small wedding and every guest has a plus one, some I know well, some only a year or so, and one person I have no idea who they will bring yet. We just want the people invited to enjoy themselves as much as possible as we are asking them to make such an effort to attend our wedding.

My friend is getting married a couple of months before me and has recently scaled back their plans as they are still really terrified of Covid. It suddenly occurred to me that my fiancé isn’t invited - the invite was addressed to me only. I understand the numbers are limited but I’m kinda offended. She also hasn’t directly said this so I feel like she’s trying to skirt round the issue and imply, rather than being open and honest and tackling it head on.

I have mutual friends attending this wedding but they all have families/long term relationships as well. I’m not sure how they feel about it. Usually I’m not a stickler for wedding etiquette but something about it has rubbed me up the wrong way.. not sure why, I am surprised at my reaction tbh ha. I think it’s the contradiction of wanting us to celebrate their union but not recognising mine? Our friendship has been affected by the pandemic so maybe this is it just petering out and my other irritations just manifesting. I’m not sure. I definitely wouldn’t say anything to her or show my displeasure or anything.

Phew. Thanks for letting me get that off my chest 😂 I did mean to post about this directly but didn’t get around to it!!

I think in your circumstances it’s fair and justified though, and if it’s your mums probably outdated view than any genuine issues raised by your guests directly then I wouldn’t worry. I bet my mum would be the same 😁

Question, what are peoples opinion on a Crepe cart for the evening instead of a buffet?
Sounds amazing 🤤🤤

I'm having a very small wedding, which is already stressing me out, so kudos to the ones having large weddings, how do you manage?!!

I'm only having 6 ppl on my side of the family due to my my uncle being an absolute fool. Absolutely non-negiotable, I do not want him there. So I can't invite his wife really, nor my cousins. (Which I'm quite glad as this between them it would be 8 children under 10 and I do not want children at my wedding, I'm not a fan of them at all!)

Other half has a fairly big family though who are all lovely.

I haven't done my invites yet. I already feel sick with worry about the comments when they find out I'm only inviting parents and siblings from my side. Ah well. Got that to look forward to!

Yeah to be fair, we’ve got a couple of people coming who don’t really know anyone else, so those two are getting a plus one. But everyone else will be coming in groups anyway - family, close friends, work colleagues. So we’ve managed to keep our numbers down a little bit there (we’re having 60 in the day and an additional 50 in the evening)

i would have addition to evening and not replacing, could be a long time for day guests to go without no substantial food on evening . also all weddings ive been onto on evening have had some form of susbtantial food for evening guests, if you are doing without buffet, you would need to tell evening guests so that they can eat beforehand

Oh god…. My friend has just got my invite (to her only) and sent me a voice note saying yes we will be there! I didn’t think of any of these issues. She only invited me to her wedding not Mr Bloggs, she’s no longer with her ex husband so it wouldn’t be him coming.

Another added layer is his cousin’s fiancé is banned from our house with no exceptions as she’s a drug addict/dealer so we were hoping this would diffuse things if she wasn’t singled out. At this point… what on earth am I marrying into 🤣

Oh no 😬 I suppose you’ll always get those cheeky people who will try to exploit loopholes so you might need to follow up with a firm message! I wonder who they think they are bringing though?!

People might have issues with child free weddings but surely they can’t argue with drug dealer free weddings? 😂 what can you say, it must be love!!

I only had a small wedding immediate family parents bros and sisters only a couple of kids who were all well behaved and spent all the cash on the honeymoon… Maldives and Dubai…. Sod the evening entertainment with 150 people and laying food on.. we put on a race night for the immediate family went down a storm… especially when the guy threw in some other free entertainment too… funniest thing was hubby booked the entertainment and it turned out I knew the guy from an old pub I used to go to.. who did really good pop and music quizzes and he recognised me straight away 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bridesmaid dresses PICKED
yes there's about a year and a half to go, but honestly, its one dress all 3 girls likes and I think would suit all their shapes and covers any insecurities they may have so I figured I may as well order now.
Plus 25% off if you order 3 bridesmaids dresses right now so bargain!

I’m having green too! I like these, one of my bridesmaids will be 7 months pregnant so not sure when to order because we’re not sure what size she will need 😆
Love this. I’m also going for sage 🥰

How is it for sizing and quality? I’ve not ordered any yet!
All three are happy in their usual size. The waist band is slightly tight on them all though. Quality is really lovely, only thing I'd note is the zip on the back is quite exposed. My bridesmaids are having their hair down so not a problem, but it'd be visible with an up do/short hair

I'd also say it's a slightly darker green than the photos make it look
