I'm tempted to just have the one bridesmaid
Were paying the wedding ourself, apart from my dress which my parents have offered to pay for, I have one friend I know is expecting to be asked, but don't think she realises its not just a dress I have to pay for, its dress, shoes, hair, make up, flowers, and I'm in one of those friendship groups where I couldn't ask one without asking the other etc.
Currently our wedding party is 2 young page boys (including our son), 2 young flower girls, a best man, a groomsman and a maid of honour and I think that's enough
I'm only going to pay for my bridesmaids dress & bouquet. I'm not fussed how they want their makeup/hair/shoes etc :)

Thanks for posting this thread! I get married June next year, having a destination wedding and feel like it’s not really at the moment!

Anyone had issues with a bridesmaid just not being interested at all in your wedding? We knew we would have a small wedding and that’s what I wanted but my best friend just isn’t interested in talking about it, planning anything, she’s not even booked her flights and we booked 6 months ago
I’m having a destination wedding next year too. As far as I’m aware none of our guests have made their travel arrangements yet because of Covid. We will probably book our own flights in Jan.

It might seem harsh (honestly I’m not being because we’re 100% in the same boat!) but from my experience no one is actually bothered about your wedding apart from the couple and some close family members. If there’s stuff you want your bridesmaid to do I would ask, then hopefully there’s less disappointment if they don’t take things upon themselves.

I do really sympathise though.🤗 I think regardless of the Covid situation next summer, I am now expecting my friends to use it as an excuse not to come to the wedding before they even realistically know the situation. I won’t be postponing again though, even if we have to elope. I feel like I need something to show for the last two years of absolute rit and my wedding planners managed some amazing weddings last year so I feel less nervous myself. I just want there to be enough people there for a party atmosphere.

I’m really grateful we have this space to vent without the stereotypical ‘bridezilla’ shouts.

Me too! Fully agree and I know that our wedding is the biggest thing going on for us but not for anyone else and we made the decision to go away because we didn’t want a huge day where we had to invite loads of extended family we never see and everything that comes with it!

My focus from Jan needs to be to get my diet in order 😂 if the wedding countdown doesn’t motivated me nothing will!

Full honesty this is my second wedding and the thing I'm dreading is my hen party getting organised
First time around I planned it because I thought it would save arguments, one of my bridesmaids at the time told me she had several girls say they couldn't afford it (I gave everyone 10 months notice and the total cost was just shy of £200 for a full weekend away), she made me sit and change all the plans and I ended up removing half the activities I wanted to do, and then said bridesmaid didn't even come and it turns out the people she claimed to say couldn't afford it never said that (background, this bridesmaid is one of those people that has to have everything about her and 4 months after my hen do she was expecting us to drop £250 for her 25th birthday weekend with 2 weeks notice)
Anyway my friends have said they want to organise it this time around and take care of everything but I just know the same thing will happen and there will be arguments. I'm not expecting much, I said no stippers, I want to do karaoke and I want to stay in the UK, but I just know the same problems as last time are going to arise.

I’m only having a maid of honour and then one other bridesmaid. I didn’t want more than two and I’m happy with that number.

I’m paying for my maid of honour’s dress, shoes, hair & makeup (she is disabled, has a baby and has a low income), but my other bridesmaid I’m just paying for the dress. ☺

I really wish I was just having my MOH and no bridesmaids. I've got MOH & 3 bridesmaids. I'm not really close to the bridesmaids, I asked because they're family but that's it. I feel guilty if I was to pull back and don't know how to tell them but I don't want to cause unnecessary drama. I'm really starting to wish me and my partner eloped and surprised everyone... This way I wouldn't need to deal with situations like this

Now.. This I can help with! Join the weight loss and healthy living thread on here - lots of lovely people on there and I have lost 4 stone since last Jan! 😄 Nothing more motivating!

I'm only having one...as I'm having a small wedding didn't want a huge wedding party. I was dreading telling my other sisters about my choice and they were delighted i didn't want them to be bridesmaid.

Is anyone else worried they aren't stressed enough? 🤦 I keep seeing and hearing that it's so stressful and a friend of mine also getting married next year put up a status on social media warning people not to bother wedding planning because of how stressful it is. And I'm just sat there wondering why it's so stressful and have I missed/forgotten something major 😬😂

That’s already more than enough!!!!! Honestly - there’s no need to have anyone else in the wedding party, you’ve got someone up there with you as your maid of honour - that’s enough. Don’t let the expectations of others derail your wedding.

I’m not stressed at the moment, but I have a wedding planner so haven’t had to lift a finger 😂 what’s your friend so stressed about? I postponed from last year so already had suppliers tied in and moved to my new date, I know of others planning weddings more recently who either can’t secure a desirable date or who are having to contact their 10th/11th choice photographer or HMUA because the wedding industry is so busy with the backlog. Maybe it’s because of something like that?

I’m not stressed about it either. I’ve always been a very laid back “what will be will be” kind of person.
Plus, to me, the wedding is about getting to marry my best friend, not about having the perfect flowers, perfect decor etc etc. As long as we get to get married, I’m not overly fussed about every little detail going to plan. 😃

honestly i would just not invite her and avoid all those problems that way 😅

Ohh maybe it's that, I think I must have got lucky. We're getting married on a Thursday, and I got my number one choice for pretty much everything within 2 months of getting engaged (for context only got engaged this September!).
Have you had to change much with the moved date?

The only thing I'm stressing about is looking and feeling good in my wedding dress, I'm 5 months pp and trying so hard to lose weight and its just not happening

Has anyone got a second dress for the evening?
I’m getting a second shorter dress for the evening, thinking an off the peg Self Portrait one. Think it will help with the heat 😁

Wow you’ve done amazing then! Always better when you can get the suppliers involved that you really want 😁
No, apart from the date everything will be the same! Such a relief.

Oh that’s a good idea. My dress is very modest so I was thinking of maybe a silk style dress for the evening.
