I'm glad I came across this thread cos I know I'll find it super useful!
I was due to get married last year but covid, we've postponed till December 2022 (will be Christmassy at our venue - it's a hotel and rustic vibes).

I'm no where nearly as organised as others are, me and my fiance are now a bit meh about it all because of covid. We've both lost our wedding planning boost and struggling for it to come back to us.

A few things:
1) I got my wedding dress not long after my son was born (i literally mean he was weeks old) - it was the first dress I tried on and my mum bought me it because it was a steal. I adored it so much, it was actually one of my sisters choices that she didn't end up going for then when we seen it in a sale I got it.
This was beginning of 2019 - fast forward till now and I've had another baby. My dress no longer fits me and I just don't know if I love it anymore ☹ I just don't feel pretty in it mainly because it no longer fits me, but I think its because I didn't do the whole going to a bridal shop and trying on all different styles of dresses.
Also, as it was buy on the day my mums had it stored in her spare room on the door. Obviously it's not been stored correctly as the dress is now tinged yellow and I don't know if it'll come out.
I know it's not the end of the world as the dress was a steal but I'd feel guilty if it was ruined.
I really need to get my head straight and actually stick to eating healthy and exercising and that way if I do need to get a new dress then I'll feel more comfortable in more styles!

2) everyone keeps asking us how much we've got planned/how we need to crack on with it but as I said above, we've both lost the spark with it. After our first date was cancelled, we agreed to just go to the registry office but there was no appointments available. We'd already paid our photographer in full £1200. We managed to change our date with our venue for no additional cost but photographer cost us an extra £450, ouch.

3) I bought my bridesmaid dresses for our first date, they no longer fit my bridesmaids and I can't return them so need to try sell them on but know I won't get the same price I paid.

4) I really want to do as much DIY as I can to put our own spin on it but also to save money! I keep toying with the idea if a cricut is worth it or not - if anyone has one, are they worth it for wedding crafts? (signs, seating plans, invites etc)

I bought a Cricut specifically for doing a lot of wedding diy, but I know I will use it in the future as I do crafts for a hobby anyway! If you do buy one you can always sell it after and get some money back for it

Are you in a position to get a second dress? Even if just for the evening rather than a full new wedding dress, so you still feel like you have THE dress to feel your very best in?

That's very true! I'm quite into crafts too so if I feel like I'm not getting the proper use I could sell it on! Thank you x

Yeah I will be, I think I might just do what a few people have mentioned in here and go to a bridal shop myself to get an idea for different tastes and styles then take my mum and sister with me if I find some I like. My mums quite opinionated so I'd be worried the first proper time I went she would too vocal about if she doesn't like some of the dresses haha

What are you planning on using your cricut for? I've got a silhouette but haven't got any ideas so far.

I’m going to print my invitations but going to use the cricut for the outer envelope bit I don’t know what they’re called but I’ll attach a pic of what I mean 😆 also I’m doing a welcome sign, the table plan, smaller signs for the tables.
I’m making little tags for the cookie favours, personalised bits for my bridesmaids and groomsmen etc. lots of bits really.
There’s some great cricut wedding groups on Facebook with loads of ideas!

I’ve got the cricut explore air 2 and it’s been perfect for everything I need you can usually pick them up on offer in bundles every now and then on the cricut or hobby craft website

Thanks for posting this thread! I get married June next year, having a destination wedding and feel like it’s not really at the moment!

Anyone had issues with a bridesmaid just not being interested at all in your wedding? We knew we would have a small wedding and that’s what I wanted but my best friend just isn’t interested in talking about it, planning anything, she’s not even booked her flights and we booked 6 months ago

I’ve had a few issues with one bridesmaid, well my MOH. We’ve been best friends since we were 14 and would talk about our dream wedding day. Now mine is coming around, she couldn’t be interested in the slightest. Ours is in France a place she used to love and now she keeps giving sly digs about France, my colour scheme and theme in general 🤷🏼‍♀️

Sounds like she’s jealous you’re getting married 😞

My mum said that but, she is engaged herself so it doesn’t make sense! My partner doesn’t want her in the wedding party anymore but, I could never do that to her
Omg my partner is the same about my brothers girlfriend, she is one of my bridesmaids and is so jealous she isn’t my maid of honour, my best friend is! My partner is like can we just not invite her I’m like no that will cause even more drama 😆

My friend is so similar she’s been my best friend since high school, been with her partner for 10 years, have 2 kids together not married or engaged and has always said she doesn’t want to get married which is obviously fine.

The thing that’s annoying me is I was single for years, always supportive and happy about her choices in life and there for her. I went to lots and lots of weddings on my own with no plus one and was always supportive and happy for other people and I just think I deserve the same back. I don’t have any close females in my family and lost my mum a few years ago and feel I really need someone there who knows me better than anyone and i always thought it was her but it seems not.

I also don’t want to be a bridezilla and don’t want to lose a friend over it, or someone taking the joy away from our day

That’s so similar to my situation. My friend has been with her partner since we were 18, I was always the third wheel. She got engaged in 2018 and isn’t bothered about the wedding anymore as she’s just bought a house.

Sorry about your mum ❤ I lost my dad when I was younger and my brother is being my surrogate father for the day and she even made a sly dig about that.

I know what you mean, I don’t even bring my wedding up often but, when something get’s finalised, I want to share it with her and she’s just so unresponsive. She even blanks my messages sometimes. It’s sad isn’t it because, it’s meant to be such a joyous occasion.

We are very financially privileged so have paid for all the accommodation, food and drinks for the 3-4 days everyone is there so all they have to pay for is flights. So I don’t even feel like I’m asking for much, I just want her to enjoy it all!

Yes! I just want some enthusiasm and excitement from her. I’m not being a demanding bride and I know everyone had other things going on and the world doesn’t revolve around our day but still!

In the end what really matters is me and my partner have a great day and at the end of it are married 🥰

We're all in similar situations! One of my best friends told me she doesn't want any responsibility/role in the wedding, as I was telling her I'd like to be a bridesmaid :ROFLMAO: 🤷‍♀️ Still gonna ask her, hopefully she doesn't kick up a fuss!

I'm tempted to just have the one bridesmaid
Were paying the wedding ourself, apart from my dress which my parents have offered to pay for, I have one friend I know is expecting to be asked, but don't think she realises its not just a dress I have to pay for, its dress, shoes, hair, make up, flowers, and I'm in one of those friendship groups where I couldn't ask one without asking the other etc.
Currently our wedding party is 2 young page boys (including our son), 2 young flower girls, a best man, a groomsman and a maid of honour and I think that's enough
