Unsure if this is slightly off topic but here goes:
Been with partner 11 years. We have a 1 (almost 2) year old child. He always said he doesn't see the point in marriage and to be fair, it's not at the top of my list.
However, February this year he proposed!
Thing is, he point blank refuses to discuss anything around planning a wedding. I'm worried he got carried away with himself and only proposed to me as he felt it was the 'right' thing to do after having our child.
Thoughts please?!!
Sorry you’re in this position, sounds tricky.

What do you think he’d do if you sat him down with some dates from the registry office and asked him to pick one?

Could it be worries about the cost of a big wedding? Or the anxiety of being centre of attention for a day?

If you haven’t been pushing for it yourself, I think lots of men probably propose out of a sense of duty after a baby is born due to friends or family making comments to that effect.

What do you envisage for your wedding day?

Ahh I'm going to keep an eye on this thread. We recently booked a venue for 2023! We've been engaged since June and it still doesn't feel real, we've been together for almost 10 years.

How exciting!!! I'm 2023 too! In August!

I feel a bit panicked now because I didn't realise how insanely booked some suppliers would be.
I have my venue and a photographer and dj.
Waiting to hear a price for someone to supply aisle decor, centrepieces and artificial top table flowers, photobooth and dance floor.
Still need a videographer, florist, cake and hair and make up.

Congrats!

Oh god you're so much more organised than me... Our date is February 2023 and I have food and a venue and nothing else... The venue told me I have a planning meeting with their team in January and I can relax until then but maybe I should start now 😬

I’ve now just got rings, bridesmaids dresses & suits left to organise and then it’s just little bits (we are October 2022). I think we will sort these after Christmas.

It’s going to start feeling very real once we get to 2022😱.

I’m in a very similar boat but, the bridesmaid dresses are sorted, just need to get the flower girl dresses! We are July 2022! I feel like it will come around so quick now.

I’m really struggling with the bridesmaids dresses. I wanted to get high street ones, but I’m struggling with the sizing at the minute, so I don’t know whether to just go to a dress shop and price them up there! I was hoping not to spend more than about £100-£150 🤦‍♀️!

I think once Christmas and New Year is over, it will just fly by!

We’re July 2022 too! I just know once Christmas is gone it will fly by and I’m a bit stressed thinking about it!

Depending on what you want, I would suggest dessy. I wore one a couple of years ago and it was so beautiful. You can go to a bridal shop that stocks them and they usually have a large range of styles and colours then you can order them online yourself I think. ( think this may end up cheaper) they then do matching ties etc. Also, if you put in dessy on Instagram then they have a massive account and you can get a real look for them.

If you want a modern look then try bec + bridge they do the silky ones which are very in atm also, fame and partners do lovely ones and show you pictures of real bridesmaids.

I went in 2019 with my friend to a store and the cheapest was £250 and the style was very old fashioned. Honestly, wasn’t worth the money.

I’ve ended up getting my bridesmaid dresses made because the style I want ended up showing too much boob when they tried them on. So I’ve had to get some designed instead 🙈

Oh lovely, what date? I feel like I’m going to just ignore that it’s happening in the next few months!

I got really lovely dresses for my bridesmaids from Next! The girls all love them and they were less than £80 each

I had a look at next, but I’m really struggling with the sizing. I need one dress in a 20/22 and no where seems to sell that size or have it in stock😐

ASOS have a range of bridesmaids dresses in plus sizes, and a lot of them are also available in the standard size range if you need them to match?

I’m going to start thinking about invitations after Christmas, how long before the wedding are you supposed to send them? And also I’m not sure how soon go the wedding to put the RSVP deadline 🤔

We sent our invitations 6 months in advance. We’ve asked for RSVP’s in January for a March wedding as that gives us time to sort the table plan, place settings etc out.

Great thank you! I was thinking about 4 months before and then RSVP 2 months before but wasn’t sure if that gave people enough time
