I’m getting married in May 2022 at a registry office followed by lunch in the private dining room of a well known prestigious restaurant. Only having 20 people who are literally our immediate family and our best friends.

I’m loving reading everyone’s stories and plans 💗
Fantastic isn’t it? Your wedding is a carbon copy of what mine is going to be. No stress and what will be a joyous day. Have a wonderful day celebrating xx

Rings and suits are the next things on our list I think.

Sadly my fiancé’s grandad passed away a few weeks ago, which is hard because he is one of the people we really wanted to be at the wedding as we knew it would probably be the only chance he would get to see a grandchild get married 💔

My nan also passed away a few months ago, but she had advanced dementia, so she wouldn’t have been able to attend, but it’s still difficult 💔

Not many people agree with the “big” wedding, although I wouldn’t say ours was overly big? We are having 28 to the day (getting married in a hotel, followed by wedding breakfast there) and then there’s about 60-80 in total at the evening (reception is at the hotel too).

I guess we just preferred this choice of wedding style as we wanted to enjoy the day with all our family and friends. I can’t say I’ve felt stressed about it up to now, we are both very laid back and it’s all been fairly easy so far! 😃

Had a zoom call with our florist this morning and finalised our designs. I know it sounds daft but, flowers mean so much to me and make me so happy ☺

In Ireland most hotels have minimum numbers of 100/120

We’ve had a wedding coordination visit today. I’m so happy and excited after it. Our venue was all decorated for Christmas and it made me kind of wish I was having a December wedding 😂 The staff are amazing though and I have faith they will keep everything running smoothly.

Our wedding is going to be quite big, around 100 to the day and 150 to the night. We’ve both got big families and big friendship groups so wanted everyone there with us. I’m sure I’ll wish we had eloped when we come to do the seating plan 😂

You too my dear. I just didn’t want the hassle of all of the extended family. Plus I’m not a massive lover of being the centre of attention. What have you decided to do about the “frills” - dress/hair/makeup/photos etc? 💗

I have heard nothing from my venue or church since we paid the deposits in July, wedding is July 2022. When do they usually contact you about the order of service, and readings and what not? I have never been to a church wedding so don’t know what’s involved😵

A lot of venues don't contact you until about a month or 2 before, to do a final details meeting, unless you contact them beforehand of course.
I'm a wedding coordinator and sometimes I won't hear from brides from booking until I contact them about final details etc or for payments, and other brides ill hear from maybe every 2 months.
If you're concerned, contact your Church/venue and ask any questions you have and ask if there is anything they need from you now or before your wedding date.

Thank you that makes me feel better, it’s still a while away yet so I’m sure I’m just being paranoid thinking they’ve forgotten about me 😆

Currently waiting to hear back from pike 8 hair and make up people. Here i thought I had plenty of time until August 2023, but everything seems to be booking up so quickly!

Anyone had any ballpark figures for dress alteration? Want to make sure I’m prepared and the one I’ve been recommended from my bridal boutique only gives a quote after the initial fitting so I’m a bit 😬

It’s so tough with vendors at the minute isn’t it? ☹ There’s such a backlog of weddings to happen.. bleeping Covid.

As more travel rules come out I’m starting to swing between panicking again and grim determination that I’ll get married next year no matter what, even if I haven’t guests and have to drag two Italian nonnos off the street as witnessness 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

I’ve got a skirt, lace top and corset top that all need altering- skirt needs shortening, and taking in at the waist, and a bustle adding, both tops need taking in, and the lace one needs a few other bits changed too. I’ve been told it’ll be £150-200 using the designer the boutique recommended… but again, not sure until I’ve actually seen her. Seems to be a fairly standard price based on a few friends who have used the same lady

As long as hotels are allowed to be open, I’m determined to get married in March, guests or no guests. The wedding planners at the venue are lovely, they can be our witnesses 🤣

Ok that’s not too bad, maybe I’m panicking for no reason haha. I guess you’re paying for their time too and it’s complicated work! 😁

I am getting married in October 2022- been kind of told i need to set a fire under me to go dress shopping - not where i want to be with my weight all that lovely stuff. I was half thinking of going on my own first and then maybe bringing people to the next one - is that what anyone does or will i just man up?

Most dresses can be took down 2 sizes during alterations and the shop staff will give you an idea if its doable.
totally up to you if you want to bring stuff but maybe consider, its your first experience of doing it and something you cant get back again so do you want people there to share the experience with you. also there is a chance you could find you dream dress on your first visits so you may not get another oppotunity as i know i found my dream one on my first shop

It depends on what sort of dress you’re after. If you want one from a proper bridal shop, made to order then I think yes shopping sooner rather than later is recommended. I got mine from a sample shop, so able to take it home with me that day, so much less need for ordering way in advance.

I would go as soon as possible. I ordered my dress in March and it only arrived in store this month so it did take a while. Even if you find the one in the first shop you don’t need to buy there and then, you can have a think and take someone back with you. It just gives you a bit of breathing room to try other shops if necessary.

I meant in terms of brand new, made to measure rather than “samples”. I ended up with nothing like what I thought anyway

Depends on what sort of dress you want and where you’re buying it from I think. I was planning to buy off the peg anyway (wed2b), ended up buying at a sample sale and took it away with me there and then. If you’re having one made to order, I know there have been delays with this due to brexit/covid so would recommend asking shops about their timescales/for advice.

Re weight loss - I have been there myself this year, dreading it and feeling the pressure ❤ although I started shopping after I’d lost the majority of what I wanted to lose, a year in lockdown not wearing formal clothes meant I felt very daunted, unsure of what I wanted/what would suit me and no idea of what would actually look good. I took my mum and sisters as my cheerleaders and I think I would have found it tough without them and their reassurance (and their photos - I thought the dresses weren’t all that when I looked in the mirror but when I saw myself in the photos it did boost my confidence). Maybe keep your circle small, and only ask people who you know will be supportive - I had no doubts about this with my crew ❤
