Wedding Planning #4

Looking for your opinions please 🙏

I’m getting married in October…. Originally had planned and booked for a wedding for 60 people however ended up changing our minds and now having a wedding for 150.

When we originally booked the wedding we booked transport (wedding bus) which holds 70 people to take us from the church to our reception venue but obviously the bus now isnt big enough to hold all 150 guests.

We can’t really afford to hire another wedding bus for the remaining amount of people but I am now
worried it’s going to be really awkward when people come out of the church and see the wedding bus and wonder if they should get on or not.

Our wedding party and immediate family is about 40 people, so there would be room for another 30 or so. But how do we agree who gets on and who doesn’t?
I have mentioned the bus to a few people in conversation when talking about the wedding, it’s just this is now keeping me up at night (aside from my fiancés snoring whilst he has a restful deep sleep!).

Would really appreciate people’s opinions- am
I overthinking it ? Will it be awkward? Any ideas on how we manage numbers getting on? Any help at all appreciated ! X
What about requesting on the RSVP if guests will require the use of the bus from the ceremony to the reception so they can be put on the bus list then you will have a better idea of numbers. If the numbers are over, like @kelly123 has said, potentially the bus could do two trips.

I know it may not be ideal but at my cousin's wedding she had a bus taking guests from the ceremony to the reception and a lot of people, myself included just drove ourselves so our car was at the reception for the next day as we were staying over. She had about 120 guests and the venue was an hour and a half away x

Thanks for this - another thing I hadn’t thought of doing 🙈 (Story of my life with this wedding 🤣!)

Invites have already been sent so I’m defo too late for this one - would have been ideal to have got an idea of numbers!

Defo starting to panic now-the bus company can’t do a second trip as they have a booking after us and will need to make their way out of town after our booking.

pray for me please ! No idea how this going to turn out 😭😭

I do….. I have had no help at all from anyone! I’ve got to breaking point this year as it has been so full on with a lot of other things chucked into the mix, and I’ve found the process quite lonely for the most part. The only parts I’ve actually enjoyed have been the dress shopping and food tasting !

Tbh most weddings I've been to there's a bus for some people only and the rest sort their own transport so I don't think this is unusual

My to be SIL is normally sound but she's starting to grate on me...

Her daughter will be a "junior bridesmaid" which is fine but was sort of forced upon me when SIL started saying about how excited niece will be about being part of the wedding the MINUTE we got engaged.

Now we are at the point of looking at bridesmaid dresses and it's allllll about the day out and things for my niece. Fine, I get she's excited but her mum is fully hyping her up as her special day and I'm here like "ok but you also realise I am going to be getting dresses that suits my 2 best friends and then we alter niece's to suit?". SIL is sending me random dresses that would suit niece and I'm like "well that isn't what the vibe is?"

She's also now sending ideas for what she will wear and most are either not formal enough for a wedding or literally white/off white.

This is the more normal SIL too so god knows how the other is going to be 🙈

Certain family members become so entitled and it's so frustrating. Just make sure you stick to what you want. It's your day not theirs.

Just found this thread… I’m into the last 3 months and it is all consuming, I wish I could just shut my brain off for an hour or two so I didn’t have to think of everything I still need to do 🫠 I’m sure my brain is playing tricks on me; the dreams I’m having are crazy.

Has anyone used QR codes for guests to upload pics and videos to? Just wondering which company is best….theres a few out there and was hoping for some recommendations?

My wedding is next weekend and I only just thought about this in the last couple of days! I’ve gone with GuestPix as even though you have to pay a one off charge it seems the most hassle-free to me for guests (no logging in etc). I’ve printed off the QR code and will stick on the back of menus/table numbers etc and have a few dotted around the venue too, and will also just message/email the upload link to people too. Will let you know how it goes 🤞

Update on the other SiL - she wants to wear a Popsy polyester dress to the wedding. So does the MiL...

Honestly I do wonder how the hell they raised a brother who exclusively wears Ralph Lauren and Reiss

Girlies it’s my hen party next weekend and I was wondering would anyone have a website that would do some nice white dresses with a bit of sleeve as it’s in the UK so can’t imagine it’ll be the warmest.
Also as the bride, is it a nice gesture to get all my hens that are coming a nice gift?

Also also, one of the girls cancelled today and said she can’t come as she has had to pay deposits for her wedding - fair enough I understand but my hens been booked for the best part of this year now and just to cancel a week before meaning we all now have to cover her fees has just left some of us a little bit miffed.
I just wish she had said she couldn’t come weeks back.

Sorry for that last bit just needed to rant a little haha.

Isn’t it. A week before we are due to go. She just left the group chat too without telling anyone, instead choosing to message me, who isn’t in the group chat as everything is a surprise, to tell me she can’t afford to go as she’s paid a few deposits on her wedding. I haven’t even replied to her. I just let the other girls know and my sister is going to have a chat with her. In all honesty, she has form for this and did it to another hen in the group when it was her wedding 2 years ago.

She has RSVP already to the wedding but I’m really worried she won’t go to that either and we will be down money for them not showing up. she’s actually a family member too so do I risk uninviting and causing drama within the family.
It’ll be interesting when im invited to her hen, wedding etc.. she will get an eye opener as to why you don’t just cancel or pull out a week before when you see the costs.

Aww so exciting!! I got a white dress with long sleeves for mine from Club L London, they’re my go to for nice dresses and had a big white section when I got mine.

I got everyone a little bracelet for mine (I had 27 people so I wasn’t pushing the boat out 😂) I think it’s nice to get a thank you, but only if you can afford it!! Nobody will expect it.

And finally, I’d be absolutely fuming. I HATE people who are flaky like that, the only excuse when you’ve known about an event for a while is an emergency like your car has broken or someone is in hospital.

I didn’t even think of club L! Thank you! If I remember correctly they’re pretty quick with deliveries too so that would work well :)

Yeah I was thinking just something small as I know they’ve put effort into it and it’s been stressful at times while I’ve done nothing - so just my way of letting them know how appreciated I am for them all. Wow 27! I’m sure that was so much fun. Hats off to your hens for arranging that. Amazing.

We had a feeling it could happen and then as time went on and the dates been getting closer, we thought she might actually be coming. I feel like I’m more pissed off about it because she’s using her wedding which is in 2027 as an excuse when she should understand as being a bride to be herself how pissed off she would be if someone does that to her for her hen. Some of my hens have had to contact hotel and places we are doing activities to try and get her cancelled off which is unfair on them a week before.
She also seems to be always out doing something or posting about her weekend breaks like she’s some sort of travel junkie (she isn’t but likes to give that impression) so I’m just confused. I really just think she never had any intention of coming and didn’t know how to get out of it.

i seriously need to get my tit together, i get married October 2025 and so far i have done nothing, currently 28 weeks pregnant and also have a 2 year old so life is pretty busy at the moment. but i'm not gonna lie i hate party planning i find it time consuming and boring (if i had the money i would have a wedding planner so i wouldn't have to do a thing) 😂 so the thought of planning a wedding just overwhelms me.

also on a budget so i guess what i'm asking is...

Where do i start
where can i buy décor on a budget?
a dress that's not going to cost and arm and a leg
what should i actually be buying 😂

Help me pls
i get married in a YEAR and i still haven’t done a thing😂

gonna start with save the dates/ wedding invites, any advice on where to get them? I’ve seen QR codes on invites before..how do I do that?

There’s a few posts on page 16 about QR codes & collecting RSVPs ☺

I did my invites through Vistaprint and have to say the customer service was excellent.

I also added QR codes and used the website 'hitched' - really straight forward and easy. Just edited them onto my invites on vista print. Really enjoyed doing it too :)
