Not exactly wedding planning related but good to get advice from brides to be.

Thoughts on this as a wedding guest dress / if someone wore it to your wedding?

Most people I’ve spoken to have said it’s lovely/ absolutely fine, but one friend has queried how the colours would look in photos, would the black be visible enough for the dress not to look plain cream? This hasn’t crossed my mind at all as the stripes are very obvious but now she’s said it I’m overthinking and don’t want to be “that person”. I’m just a plus 1 so wouldn’t imagine I’ll be in any professional photos or even a photo with the bride!
I don’t think this would bother me if someone wore this to my wedding

I think it would be fine but tbh for peace of mind I usually stay away from anything that has a fair bit of white/cream, just in case 😅 it doesn't look bridal at all though

I really don’t think it looks bridal at all and I probably wouldn’t mind if someone wore that to my wedding… That said, with all the colours and dresses in the world, I do always wonder why people consider wearing a dress that would be described as “X and white” or “white with X print/detail” to a wedding. In my opinion, if you need to ask or are unsure about whether it’s fine for a wedding, then most often than not the answer is no.

ETA: I think it’s even more true as a plus 1 tbh. If you were a close friend, then the bride you know that you’re not trying to upstage her, that you just liked the dress and had no ill intentions. I think as a +1, I’d be worried that people are questioning whether or not my dress choice is appropriate etc behind my back. Maybe that’s just me though!

Are you on your local Facebook wedding groups and if so, are they also full of drama or?? 😂

This week only, we’ve had:
- two brides complain about having been scammed, one accusing a well-liked supplier. All her buddies came to her defence in the comments and told the poster she shouldn’t be slandering. The other one was about flower preservation and having been ghosted and the only comments were from people offering the same service, just blaming her for going for a new and unestablished supplier
- one supplier posted something super sarcastic like “Looks like everyone is on a budget at the moment, I’ve never seen so many posts asking for cheap recommendations 🙄
- one hair dresser talked about an awful client she had and how she walked out on a wedding for the first time ever, with lots of details for added drama
- following this, we’ve had like 4 different posts saying pretty much the exact same thing, like “this horrific slander needs to stop, if you have a problem with a supplier, leave them an honest review, don’t come on here and slate them, this is horrendous, be kind etc etc”, threatening to leave the group (like ok hun, just leave, no need to tell us)

And then, my favourite last night:
Like are people ok? 😳 The irony of them posting it anonymously too 😅

I understand it must be annoying to be asked for recommendations for someone cheap, it is usually better worded in a different way eh good value for money or reasonable, rather than saying cheap. But I really hate when suppliers get annoyed when someone ask for their prices. Like what? There is quite a range out there and this could come as a shock to them but most people don't have unlimited budget. Also their work is usually visible on their website/social media, but prices are not so more often than not you see their work, then come and have to ask for prices

Don't think I've ever seen the words "slander" and "slate" used as much as I've seen them this week 😂

Exactly! Honestly, I don't understand where the attitude in that post is coming from. I'm guessing/hoping they've worded it badly and just missed the point. I think posting their best pictures shots and an explanation as to why they charge as much as they do and pride themselves on their experience and qualifications or something would have gone better than the whole "If pricing is the first thing you look at, then I have nothing to say to you". Sorry to break it to you, but pricing is the first thing a lot of couples look at! I also don't understand the snappy tone but the anonymous account. I'd love to know who they are 👀

That said though, I find these groups quite frustrating as every day you have people asking for recommendations and it's like they're making it their mission to be as vague as possible. Like "Looking for a florist for next year, thanks". Or using the whole "looking for XX, no crazy expensive prices". Could you BE any more vague? I don't know why I'm still on it. I did find my videographer on there, so it's not all bad, but it's mostly drama.

I’ve stayed in some groups because of the drama 🤣

The no prices thing really irritates me, I literally wouldn’t book anyone that didn’t have their prices readily available because I cba messaging for a price and it being more than I wanted to pay. We paid a LOT of money for our photographer because we wanted a particular style but I was well aware of the price before we started discussing with him.

Also surely it’s annoying for the vendor to have loads of messages asking for prices and then not getting replies / bookings because it’s more than people want to pay.

Hey everyone, it’s just occurred to me I’ll have to put something for ‘occupation’ on the marriage licence. I don’t work due to my mental health but I don’t want to put ‘unemployed’, anyone know what else I could put?

Not necessarily wedding planning related but we got married end of may this year and announced our pregnancy in the speeches. It was everything I ever dreamt of HOWEVER
my now (unfortunately) brother in law also decided to bring his 6 month pregnant girlfriend to the wedding that nobody knew was pregnant. Felt like they completely upstaged me, stole our moment etc etc and I’m really struggling to come to terms with it
We never received a gift (not the end of the world but we spent around £300 per couple) and haven’t spoken to us since. I’m so hung up over it and I’m still so hurt!! it’s not my side of the family so not really something I can just confront them about but even if I wanted to, they won’t return my husbands calls etc

Looking for your opinions please 🙏

I’m getting married in October…. Originally had planned and booked for a wedding for 60 people however ended up changing our minds and now having a wedding for 150.

When we originally booked the wedding we booked transport (wedding bus) which holds 70 people to take us from the church to our reception venue but obviously the bus now isnt big enough to hold all 150 guests.

We can’t really afford to hire another wedding bus for the remaining amount of people but I am now
worried it’s going to be really awkward when people come out of the church and see the wedding bus and wonder if they should get on or not.

Our wedding party and immediate family is about 40 people, so there would be room for another 30 or so. But how do we agree who gets on and who doesn’t?
I have mentioned the bus to a few people in conversation when talking about the wedding, it’s just this is now keeping me up at night (aside from my fiancés snoring whilst he has a restful deep sleep!).

Would really appreciate people’s opinions- am
I overthinking it ? Will it be awkward? Any ideas on how we manage numbers getting on? Any help at all appreciated ! X

Is the venue close enough for the bus to do two trips?
I actually hadn’t thought of that…. I guess it is but would mean the second lot of guests waiting around 30 minutes outside the church to be collected. But definitely one to consider. Thank you x
