I started The Last of Us Part 2 recently. I'm enjoying it so far, though I'm still getting used to the controls. I've never played the first game, but I've seen the TV series and, while I was interested in playing it, the first game is £20 more expensive than the second which makes no sense to me!

Are you all mostly PC gamers? I only had a Switch until recently, but since I've bought a PS5 I feel like I've joined the next generation - albeit late! But even PS5 and Xbox Series X owners are behind PC gamers in terms of power/graphics.

I used to play PC games ages ago but I found upgrades were needed too often. Every time a new game came out that I was interested in, I'd need to assess whether it was worth getting if my PC only met the minimum rather than recommended settings. So I only play on consoles now. It's nice to know that as long as a game is available for a console you own you'll be able to play it with no issues.
I’ve just downloaded the first The Last of Us for £7.99- I’m on ps4 though if that makes a difference?

Probably the wrong place to ask.

Can anyone please recommend a site that sells activation keys for win 10 pro barring the Microsoft store?

There seems to be a few after a quick look but if anyone has any recommendations that would be nice.
I'm putting together a new system and new MB counts as new/fresh Windows install.
Half of the kit I ordered has come early and now I'm flapping.
Someone mentiioned a game key store in a prior topic but can't find the post now.

Am playing it on the easy setting for now so it's super relaxed, the music in a way reminds me a little of the music they had for lotr for the shire, so it's actually nice to listen too, I'd say the only part am really struggling with is coal, I don't want a ton of coal mines but am just not making enough either

Had you tried manor lords? It's on pc game pass the now, it's very much the same idea, but it doesn't feel as rushed with having to get things ready, an it doesn't matter too much the location of things either, there's no bandits to seat an you can accept or deny fables which means you don't feel rushed to get houses up, but I am really hoping I can eventually upgrade my houses to fit more as right now it's only allowing for 3 so you do end up with a ton of houses, overall it's quite relaxing (at least on easy setting) an I've been enjoying it, not sure if it's still on sale but it had when I got it I think 20% off

Looking for advice on the steam deck, I think I've seen a few in here have it

First, how long do they stay in date? Are they like consoles where you get until a few years after the new one releases before you need to upgrade? Or am I going get many many years out them? I know with consoles you can keep if you have the discs but am not sure with the steam deck being a streaming device if it's going be a update every 5/6 years etc

Second, am I as well going for the 1tb storage or is smaller better, how does it work if you are streaming, do you need a lot of space for that or is it fine going for smaller because space doesn't mean a lot if you are streaming

Thirdly, how is internet, I'll be using it mostly for travelling, will a trains/hotels WiFi be good enough or do they really need excellent connection, can I also play offline if I download as well or is it one of those that needs to be constantly connected?

Fouthly, can I get Xbox game pass and playstation premium on it? Or is it just for steam itself, I know other devices I think the backbone will use Xbox an PS but I don't know about steam deck, I have memberships to both an wondering if I can also access both on it

Lastly, how heavy/bulky are they, are they easy enough to carry around? Or is it going feel like an carrying a massive brick about lol, they don't look too bulky in pictures I feel but you can't tell weight

Sorry a lot of info am looking for, the one I was looking at is around £569 I think so making sure it's the right decision

I can’t comment on the shelf life but I guess it can handle games like Baldurs Gate 3 with a little frame rate drop (further in in the game than I am though so I haven’t seen it yet)

mine is 256GB storage, I thought I would be fine with that and an SD card but bigger games like BG3 and Sandrock like to be on the hard drive.

you can play offline, I can’t get it on to my work’s WiFi so I just close my game at the end of my break and it updates to the cloud when I get home.

I think you would need all games installed to run. Can’t comment on using it as a browser or YouTube though.

not sure about Game pass and PS+ but it might be worth seeing if you can install things. There’s lots you can install.

I don’t find mine heavy, I take it back and fore to work in its case. I can sit and play comfortably with my small hands

Thanks, good to know it updates to the cloud when it's connected, I was thinking if am going between pc an steam deck then maybe I'd need to make new saves on ganes because if it wasn't connected then it would only save on the device itself an you can't switch between pc an steam deck

I guess the game pass an ps+ would be more a bonus than a priority, it would be nice having them but if not it's not a decider to me as steam have a pretty big library

That's good, I also have small hands 😅 an I was worried it would be quite big, I don't know why I was picturing it to be heavy, it just looks it for some reason but good to know it's light too

I'll prob think about getting it next month, I just like travelling with something because it keeps me focused an I don't get so much travel sickness then, usually I've got my switch but am feeling limited on what to play with it, where as the steam is going have a much larger choice

Valve have said there won't be a Steam Deck 2 for at least 2 years as the chips and stuff they want to use are ready / available yet.

The 1TB Steam Deck has some kind of slightly different screen which is supposed to reduce reflections yet its reported to be a bit less vibrant than the 512GB version (I have this one, the screen is great). I bought a 512GB micro SD card. You could buy bigger too but obviously it'll cost more. Whichever Steam Deck you get you'd enjoy though.

Internet works great, the WiFi is upgraded from the previous machine apparently.

I run Game Pass on mine and can stream games - it works surprisingly well! All Internet connection dependant of course, but my connection isn't great by any means yet this works for me. There's a little bit of fiddling round to set it up but there's official instructions from Microsoft and lots of YouTube videos. It's a 5 minute thing to get it going but you have to type in things very carefully. We'll worth it though.

I don't know anything about PlayStation tbh, sorry.

They're surprisingly wide but not heavy I don't think.

Good luck anyways 🙂

Thanks, ahh I did not realise the steam deck was like a 1/2/3 type of thing, I guess I was thinking it was more like phones where you get one out then there's like a b/c/d version of the same thing if that makes sense, so am guessing what's out is like steam deck 1 then an then there will be a 2 eventually

Good to know game pass runs on it, an there's also tutorials for to get it working

I'll definitely look into it now, might go for a smaller size an just get a SD if needed

They look really nice little machines

They’re really amazing, I’ve used mine almost daily since I got it. Even if you do get smaller one, your games will backup to the cloud if you need to remove any for space.

I haven’t done it yet but you’ll be able to mod your Stardew on it too

Oh nice that's really cool, honestly I don't think I could go back to vanilla stardew anymore 😅 I've modded it so much on pc that it would feel weird without the mods

Does anyone else play my time at sandrock online? Decided to try the online version as it's also on gamepass, would like to open my game to get more people in as it's getting more time consuming to do the co-op builds, so just wondering if I do open it

Can they access my chests?
I know it's shared gols, can they spend them all? Or can I limit/put a block on it?
If they leave do they take whatever was on them with them? Or does it go into the public storage?
Can they pick what builds we are doing?

There doesn't seem to be much info online an the game really doesn't tell you a lot either, just don't want to open my game, have someone spend all the gols, fill their inventory full of stuff an choose builds that's going take forever then leave the game

Sorry no, I don’t like playing games online as I just feel awkward about leaving. 😂

On Xbox at least it's a seperate game, not sure if you buy it if it's all included as one but I had to download the main game an then the online version, the online only works if you have the main as well, it's all cross platform as well

It's actually not bad online, it's not like the main game with the story line, the online is building up the town, so you start with just a few buildings an some characters an slowly build everything, I've just finished building fangs clinic so I've now unlocked fang an X, am into building the bridge now out to the desert

Anyone use gaming laptops and could tell me whether this is any good? Mine is dying a death so it's time to replace it, I mainly only play Planet Zoo, Rival Stars & Sims 4

Or if that one isn't very good are there any others people would recommend for under £1k?
I think you'd probably get on OK with this one for the games you are playing :)
