She’s on the American system so in first year she just studies a broad range of subject, then for the next 3 years she’ll study her minor and major. She’ll get a ‘proper’ degree but whether it’ll be recognised by any decent employers except those in Silicon Valley is another questionWhat will she end up having a degree in? I looked online and I didn't get the impression it would be a BSc like she aimed for, rather it appears to be some other certificate after some study. The programme also looks extremely broad and doesn't specialise in a subject
i assume all the people with minerva will just end up getting work through contacts i guess? She’s on the American system so in first year she just studies a broad range of subject, then for the next 3 years she’ll study her minor and major. I’m guessing so. I think most people there will do business focused degrees and hope to work at some trendy start up companies in SF or hope to get a job in the Silicon Valley with Google or Facebook etc. If she’s planning on doing a science degree I don’t think Minerva is a smart choice as they don’t actually have labsi assume all the people with minerva will just end up getting work through contacts i guess?
The thing about the labs has been mentioned soo many times but I don’t think she ever said anything regarding the issue?I’m guessing so. I am just surprised her family haven't said anything about it?The thing about the labs has been mentioned soo many times but I don’t think she ever said anything regarding the issue?
If she doesn’t want to do science anymore: why not just say?
But if she does: obviously she should be aware that that will be a huge issue?
She’s so caught up in that fancy-so-not-like-oxford-dream-uni-fantasy that she just doesn’t seem to think straight anymore.
She has already missed the first deadline, I have a feeling she will regret this, she would have been much better off saying she was just gonna go to uni in a few years time and kept travelling!I am just surprised her family haven't said anything about it?
I think with her missing her first deadline she’s going to get in the habit of thinking she can get away with it. I think she’s realising she’s not a goody-two-shoes anymore and perhaps thinks that missing deadlines and being unorganised makes her more relatable to her followers anyway. Minerva looks like it’s burning her out alreadyShe has already missed the first deadline, I have a feeling she will regret this, she would have been much better off saying she was just gonna go to uni in a few years time and kept travelling!
I agree, I think either you take 1 year or you end up going much later as a mature student when you have more of a planIf she didn't go to uni this year she never would have gone. Going back to structure after a year off is hard enough, let alone multiple.
It certainly looks that way! She'll lose half her studytube followers in the next 6 months. By January school students are starting to prep for their exams and will want some videos to look up to. There will no doubt be a new studytuber to take her place, viewers will want to follow someone doing the same exams at the same time.It doesn't look like she's doing any studying to be honest.
Yeh exactly, just using the word community is very cult-like.. also saying how surprised she was that people are nice and not cliquey is bizarre, I don't know why with a small group of people, all in a new place, you would expect them to be anything other than friendly? I was just looking at her insta.. all of the bizarre activities they are doing basically seem designed to put on social media... I semi think this is a strategy from Minerva, lots of students there seem to have youtube channelsSounds like a cult from the latest vlog. "The community is friendly", "the community is sooooo nice"...
and going on about all the pre course reading and get hard it is as if any university doesn't have that before seminars. For some reason her estimation of university workload seems to be very lowIt‘s interesting how she‘s complaining about all her assignments but then the next day she‘s on a getaway somewhere or spending a whole 24 hours doing a city challenge?
I know Minerva students are encouraged to explore the city their currently in but with as much work as they seem to be given that seems rather impractical?
Which is very odd for someone who spent years of their life researching university life. I think when you're already working to a high capacity at school, you must think "how much harder can it actually get?"and going on about all the pre course reading and get hard it is as if any university doesn't have that before seminars. For some reason her estimation of university workload seems to be very low
What uni is rg? I honestly think part of her decision making was based on what’d be best for her channel tbhNot sure why she didn't just apply to a regular American Uni. With her grades and experiences, I genuinely wouldn't have thought the Ivies were out of reach (not totally). Then again, she turned down a place at an RG uni in the UK, so maybe she just didn't fancy the typical uni experience if it wasn't Oxford. But why not just use Open Uni and travel while doing that?
