Can you elaborate on that?
Virtually my whole life it's been Russia is going too / Russia will/ Russia this and Russia that, they are always used as the bogyman Once in the very early 80s during the porn fear of nuclear war when we were bombarded with propaganda .. I remember sitting on the sofa hugging my three children crying my eyes out wondering what kind of world I had birthed them into .. Yet here we still are and Russia is still the bogeyman over everything even though America is the country always at war, people fall for it over and over again.

The Duran channel on YouTube is good for a different take on the situation.

I don’t know if it’s just because I lived near a nuclear power station but we had ‘nuclear attack’ drills in primary school in the 80’s. In hindsight I’m not sure that moving into the corridors away from windows in a crumbling Victorian era building would have done much good in the event of an actual nuclear attack but 🤷🏼‍♀️

That is exactly what it was like. leaflets through the door saying how to survive
Adverts with very helpful suggestions 🤣 most new films were about nuclear war, and we had TV films and documentary type films When the wind blows, ( shows what we were told to do in order to survive)
Threads it was full-on fear porn . . Good job we didn't have 24 hour TV back then,

Nothing will happen. Its all classic Russian brinksmanship/bully boy tactics. Media hyping it up as usual. They'll continue push the threats to the max, the UN will eventually piss their pants and Russia will get relaxations to sanctions, which is their true aim here.

Putin is just a bully.

Hopefully the Ukrainians can carry on and do as they choose - they deserve the right to be autonomous and run things as they see fit.

On every effin news bulletin. Never known a non story to be so long drawn out
It feels like they've been at war for 10yrs now. Do it, don't do it just SHUT UP!
No one would know about it if it wasn't for the British press.... Oh wait, there's money to be made in news article clicks, I'm sure that's why every fart is amplified to ridiculous levels

It's all a pantomime to keep everyone fearful

Ukrainian PM is doing what he knows best and acting a part 🤣

Don't get involved in the fear just watch with interest on how it all plays out.

Had to speak to my generally easy-going kids about this last night. They show them Newsround at school and they all came home really upset and worried that World War III was about to start. Bloody media.

But that's the truth though. It could well end up being WWIII. Supposed to start tomorrow! Whilst it's just two countries to start with, others start piling in. I don't like those Russian war ships "doing a drill" only fifty miles off Ireland. I am definitely not scare mongering - just being realistic. I am very worried. Boris et al wouldn't be holding talks with every man and his dog if everything was ticketyboo.

Nothing will happen. Russia is just being Russia. Its not like the world leaders can just ignore it. They have to be seen to be talking to eachother. It is not in Russia's interest to invade, Putin knows what he is doing. It will eventually de-escalate and then the same thing will happen again in a few years when he needs more leverage. I am someone who worries about everything. I don't give this a passing thought. It's actually quite comical that people are being taken in by this classic display of Russian trickery.

I really hope Russia doesn’t attack Ukraine, but it’s looking increasingly likely. Putin has raised the stakes so much that it’s hard to see how he backs down from this without looking weak. On a purely practical level, all those men and all that hardware can’t stay massed on the border indefinitely. Something has to happen soon given the amount of time they’ve been there already and the severe weather conditions. Fingers crossed it’s a complete withdrawal.

Not a conspiracy theorist but a great time for intelligent life to arrive now and show us how basic we are as humans!

All fueled by the media.

At least 5 times a day, Russia try to breach out waters/airspace, chased out by our RAF/navy, it's been going on for years and years.

Nothing will happen.

With respect, I think that’s quite a naive, western-centric view. If you spend some time in Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics, the Caucasus etc, or even just learn about the history of those regions, then you’d have a more realistic outlook on Russian imperialism, duplicity and aggression toward its neighbours. It’s nothing new, it’s been going on for hundreds of years. Putin is just carrying on the tradition. The USA are no angels, but they don’t have a monopoly on warmongering.

Looks like the troops are pulling back from the borders. As you were, folks. See you in about 18 months when Putin feels like poking the West again.

Seems like a power grab as Ukraine is becoming more pro-west.. and an attempt for Putin to get in the history books. This video sums up the post-soviet union tensions quite well:

Thanks so much tea.rex - i didnt really know what was going on and that video was great, I've subscribed!
