Why does it need it?
You can be of the view that the world was a safer place under Trump and support womens rights.
Not enough British people wanting to do caring/nursing jobs. A couple of the hospitals I've worked with go on recruitment campaigns to places like the Philippines to fill these roles.
Exactly!! So based on that, something has gone very wrong for people to not want to get in to those roles.

Filipino nurses are known for being very hard working. I think they were brought over by Tony Blair initially and many just stayed.
The discussion was around how welcoming and comfortable people from different cultures and races find life in the UK. I wondered what young women who were exploited and failed by professionals would feel about this - it is fair comment.
The people with a duty of care to protect them either didn't believe them or were too scared of being accused of racism or being political incorrect to actually do anything to stop the abuse.

They are, they're also very good nurses. They earn more here than they would back home and while we can plug the gap with nurses like them, there is no real incentive for any government to do much about it. I would like to see the return of the nursing degree bursary with the next government but unsure it will happen. Also as @pommobear said there is also the factor that a lot of British people would likely consider low paid care work to be beneath them tbh.

We still get the bursary in Wales, but the catch is you have to work in Wales for five years after your degree.

The grooming gang chat really frustrates me because every person that I’ve come across that is very vocal about it and uses it to tar every non-white person with the same brush is deathly silent whenever there are white gangs arrested/charged.
It literally happened last month on my Facebook. My police force shared some images of a gang they’d got sentenced and all but 1 of the men were of Asian appearance. The amount of people that shared their disgust (rightfully so at the crimes they’d committed btw) but also tagged on “get them out, hang them all, go back to your own country” etc then 2 weeks later, an all white grooming gang got sentenced and the story shared by the same police force..not 1 peep out of any of the people that shared the previous gang. It’s funny how people only seem to be against child sex crimes when the perpetrator is brown/black but don’t advocate against it if the perpetrator is white.
And before anyone comes for me, yes I believe we need to get a handle on immigration but actually by offering more safe/legal ways for people to claim and with an asylum decision making system that is actually fit for purpose. This would be the only way to make people stop risking their lives if they could claim in their own/other countries. If they paired this with tackling the human trafficking gangs then you might actually see an improvement.
I think the government has done a really good job getting people to place their anger with certain demographics when in fact the anger should be directed at them. They’re taking our money and lining their own pockets, that includes the Rwanda plan, they’re the ones cutting funding to absolutely everything, they’re the ones not wanting to look at our justice system so that offenders get adequate punishment for the crimes they commit rather than a slap on the wrist. I would also go as far as they don’t want immigration to not be a problem because how on earth would they get you to vote for them then??
