A few months ago after a 5 night stay in hospital with my toddler we decided he could just stay in bed with us that night. Anyway was early hours of the morning & I could hear a man saying my name. Being half asleep i presumed it was my partner, but he was still asleep so i thought i must of been dreaming & went back to sleep. Next thing i hear the same voice again saying my name but only this time they was shouting it over & i felt like i was being shook. I shot up to only turn over & realise my toddler had somehow managed to wedge his head under my pillows with me lay on top of them. I honestly think that was somebody watching over him & thank god they was.

Has anyone ever visited a spiritualist church? I remember someone going years ago and they were told their guardian Angel was with them. I’ve always been intrigued but never visited one. Also psychics- or is that another thread altogether?
My sister did, years ago, with a friend.

She (my sister) went in completely skeptical and disengaged… she was there for her friend and saw it as a bit of weeknight entertainment.

That was until the person leading the session kept referencing a black and white dog running through a field of red. He continued asking if that image meant anything to anybody in the audience, but moved on when no one stepped forward to claim it.

My sister had been too shocked to raise her hand. The previous week, our family border collie (complete with black and white fur) had died and we’d scattered her ashes… in a field of poppies.

To this day I wish my sister had said something.

My grandparents house is definitely haunted. My grandparents, mum and auntie moved in there when my mum was 18. She quickly made friends at work and would regularly go for nights out in town at weekends. Often she would come home in the early hours and my Nan would come downstairs when she heard her come in. Many times they would be standing in the middle of the hallway feeling like they were in the middle of a noisy pub. People laughing, chatting, glasses clanging, constant hum of music etc.
Anyway fast forward on a few years, my mum had just started dating my dad and one weekend my grandparents were away on holiday and my dad stayed over at the house. In the early hours my mum woke up to what she thought was my dad being sick all over the landing carpet. The figure threw up at least three times. She sat up and said ‘You’ll have to clean that up properly in the morning, Mum will go mad”. She then remembers laying down and smelling a strong scent of sick and alcohol before she fell asleep. The next morning she woke up and said to my Dad “I hope you’ve cleaned all that sick up”. My Dad laughed and said he hasn’t been sick at all.
My Nan recently told me she woke up a few years ago to some sort of demonic creature, in a hunched position with its teeth out and and an angry expression on its face, at the side of her bed. She put her head under the duvet and closed her eyes, but moments later when she poked her head back out it was still there. She felt like it was challenging her. She sat up and then it moved backwards and disappeared into the wardrobe. Very scary! I’ve got a few more tales that I’ll put up later.

Just remembered another, promoted by the graveyard talk. My dad used to be quite a keen runner and was out on a stretch of road in the winter, pitch dark. He was jogging along and was suddenly grabbed by the shoulders from behind- he thought he was being attacked! As he turned around and saw there was nobody there, a car absolutely sped out of the turning he would have been running through. It would have struck him without a doubt.
He went back the next day to try try to work out what had happened. Over the high wall next to him there was a graveyard that he had never known existed.

I don’t know if it classes as a “ghost” story but I can’t explain it. I’ve been trying to work out an explanation but I just can’t.
2 weeks ago we had to get my dog put to sleep. I’m struggling with her loss. I’ve not “seen” her or “heard” her like other stories I’ve read on here over time about pets coming back. I’ve been looking for signs and nothing.
She used to love sleeping on the sofa, she always used to lay on the tv remote and end up turning it on. So we used to make sure we moved it out the way. Obviously after losing her we haven’t been moving it. It was on a pillow, in her favourite spot last night. At 1:20am I was woken by the sound of the tv blasting and light shining up the stairs Obviously from the tv being on. I did assume it was my son in his bedroom but nope. Fast asleep. Everyone was fast asleep and the house in total darkness. There’s no timers on the tv, it would have only turned on if the button was pressed. It’s a fairly new tv and remote so nothing loose etc. I just simply cannot explain it, it’s never happened unless she lay on it. We have no other pets or anything that could’ve touched it.

I’m so glad I found this thread and have spent the last couple of days reading everyone’s experiences, so I thought I’d share some of my own.

My childhood home was built in the very early 1900s and and before my parents bought it in the 70s nobody had ever seemed to stay there for very long. My parents said that when they went to view it, it had a lovely welcoming feel and that the house had almost chosen them.
We’ve had quite a few experiences in the house, nothing regular or nasty. My Dad once saw a pair of mens legs wearing paisley pyjama bottoms floating up through the loft hatch..he found this hilarious (he used to be the biggest skeptic you’d ever meet).
My Mum once found a curtain ring on the floor of the kitchen which had somehow come off the curtain and curtain pole. Neither the curtain pole or ring was broken and there was a space on the curtain where it had come from.
The weirdest experience we had was one morning when we were all getting ready for school/work. Myself and my brothers were all in our teens and my brother had just come back from his early morning paper round and had brought his bike in the house and thrown his gloves in the passageway by the front door. A little while later, my Mum had walked into the passage to find one of the gloves stuck to the top of the wall, spread out like someone had their hand in it. She called to us all to come and look and it stayed there for quite a while before just dropping down by itself. Needless to say, we were all a bit freaked out!

I have quite a few more experiences I’ll share when I have a bit more time.

Love reading others experiences

The night before my nana died she appeared to me in a dream and said don't worry I'm ok now then left. Then 6 months later appeared in a dream I had about a family christening we had had after she had passed. She was sat next to my grandad smiling but not saying anything.
The same night my friends dad died I dreamt the exact details around his passing- he was surrounded by his family as his body lay in bed but he stood back and watched, happy they were all there.
I'm not sure if theres any more to it than just dreams but I do get a bit of comfort from it.

Since I was little I've always had strange goings on around me, feeling a presence, having dreams that predict things etc.

I am loving all these spooky stories!!

I grew up in a terraced house built in 1908, there was no number 33 on our road as a builder died on that site and so they just left a metre wide gap between 31 and 35 as they were too superstitious to build on the land where he died. There were no other gaps in between any other houses on the road and the gap was always dark and creepy looking!
In our house, which my grandparents bought in 1960 (no clue who lived there before), we would experience so many different strange goings on and only myself and my siblings saw any of our little ghost residents.
A few of our encounters were -
  • When I was 8, I fell over by the front door and a woman in a maid outfit helped me up off the floor
  • I used to see a small boy (about 3) with a sailor hat on in the reflection of the hallway mirror - I would never look in that mirror at night
  • A floating woman in a long white nightgown would go across the upstairs landing - seriously gave me the spooks when I went to pee one night and left the door open!
  • The face of a little girl could sometimes be seen in a small window looking out from the loft as we would walk upstairs
  • A woman used to run between the wall of my bedroom and into the downstairs loo
  • My grandad would be in the front room and would turn the TV off at the socket (it was his bedroom when he was no longer mobile) - i think he wanted some quiet time!
  • His brother would be on the upstairs landing holding a brandy glass
  • There was a presence of a woman in one bedroom upstairs - not a good energy, but there was also a little boy who would make the room feel calmer again
  • Things would always go missing and end up in places in the house where they shouldn't have been, like my slippers were once outside the back door when I would never have work them out and no one else would have done that
  • There would be a banging under the stairs sometimes but there was nothing in there apart from a bike. No pipes, no mice, it would sound like someone knocking on a door
When my nan passed away, I went to the house to find a few bits of paperwork for my dad and I was completely alone. I had never felt the house so calm. It was like they were all waiting for her to join them. I've never been back after that day and now it's sold. I do wonder if the ghosties are causing mischief for the new owners!
edit - spelling mistake

We've had many, many cats over the years (live on a farm and always adopt old ones from the SPCA).

But for the past couple of years we've had a ghost kitten ... it's pure black (we've never had a pure black cat before, let alone a kitten), and is incredibly playful in the wee small hours. I catch glimpses of him (have nicknamed him "Sparkles") out the corner of my eye just as I'm about to turn the light on (I see his shadow from the passage lights), but as soon as the light goes on he vanishes. Two of our four cats can see or sense him - they either sit staring at what appears to be nothing, transfixed on it, or murmur-purr as if they're talking to someone. Sometimes while sleeping I've felt something little and light crawl on me (too light for our cats) and if I reach out to touch it there's nothing there. He plays with my hair a lot when I'm sleeping, too. Weirdly, my husband - who is not at all spiritual - has seen Sparkles out the corner of his eye too.

I’m already 70/30 that something exists on the other side but Visiting a medium that knew impossible stuff they would only know from the other side would fully fully convince me of something on the other side 😱 but how do you find a real one?
I was very much 50/50 on this until I visited 2 amazing mediums who completely changed my view on it all and put my mind at rest after painfully losing my grandad 5 years ago.

The first one brought through my nanna.
She was a hard woman, never told her children or grandchildren that she loved us, she wasn't a very nice lady and that's me putting it in the nicest way possible. The medium told me things that there was no possible way that she would have known as I didnt know half of it until I asked my dad the day after.

The medium told me that my nanna was apologising for how she behaved when she was alive. That certain things had happened to her when she was a child that made her shut down any feelings towards others. She came through as she had an apology for my dad. He is the youngest of 3, when he was little he was shipped off to live on a farm as my nanna just didn't have the time to look after him. She wanted to apologise for not being the mum that he needed and wanted throughout his upbringing and that although she never told him, she loved him more than life itself.

At that time, my daughter was complaining about her school shoes having holes at the bottom. It was near the 6 weeks holidays and I kept telling her to wait as it was summer so she wasn't getting wet feet. At the end of the reading the medium told me that my nanna shouted "buy the bairn some new bloody shoes will you". Took my breath away a little.

As my grandad didn't come through in the first reading, I decided to visit another lady. At this point I was desperate for anything from him and was really struggling to come to terms with the loss.

At this reading, the medium described my grandad to the tee, right down to his smell. She repeatedly called me Sugarplum which was the name that my grandad called me and sang a song which my grandad and I would sing when I was younger. She was amazing! She told me that my grandad is always with me and could often by found at my bedroom bay window. Since that reading, I often wake in the night and can smell him. I've never seen anything which is fine with me as I know I would never sleep again 😂 but just knowing that he is around me is all I needed to know.

I guess I got lucky, but both ladies were recommended to me. I hope you find someone soon as the second reading still makes me smile just thinking about it.

Not too spooky. Years ago my husband and I bought a clock, put new batteries in and hung it up. That night our cat Persia got very sick and we had to make the decision to put her to sleep the next day at 9:16 am. During the week that followed I kept having to reset the clock as it kept stopping, put new batteries in and all, nothing worked.

When I spoke to my husband about it we both realised with a shock that the bloody clock kept stopping at 9:16, the same time Persia passed away. We ended up just leaving it, it was a bit weird but no big deal.

Fast forward a few months, I met a psychic whilst on a murder tour. I asked her what she though of the clock as I had people telling me it was evil and I must get rid of it. She said to me that she felt like it was Princess - my cat's nickname- and don't get rid of it because it was our little girl showing us she was safe and ok.
I had full body goosebumps, she was spot on with the nickname and I hadn't told her the cat was female. We still have the clock up in the wall, still at 9:16.
I've heard psychics saying cats/dogs/pets come through to thank their owners for loving them 😭
I definitely believe animals have souls.

I love this thread! Read it most days . I haven’t had an experience but find myself sometimes wishing I would or feeling almost ‘jealous’ (too strong a word really) of those who have. I guess I just feel w bit sad that someone are having some sort of contact from a loved one and I would lov that.

My father died aged 33 when I was 10 years old. He died of sudden adult death syndrome. I am now 31, married with w toddler and another baby on the way. I think of my dad so much and would love the chance tk speak to him; or ask him questions. I hate that as a child I took it for granted that he would always be there. I don’t remember his voice; or his laugh. I remember always being a daddy’s girl and have memories together but it’s the small things now like his smell etc I wish I could recall. I would love to have some sort of contact but I don’t know where to start in finding someone to help without risking being taken for a ride! I don’t know anyone that could recommend someone.

I don’t know why I’m posting really - please keep the stories coming! Both heart warming and chilling and spooky! Some amazing and frightening experiences documented here!

My mother was packing for holidays one year and couldn’t find these stupid looking shoes she always took away for the beach/pool. They were plastic things with a massive flower on the front. She turned her flat upside down and accused me of pinching them. No chance, we don’t even have the same size feet 😂

When she returned from that holiday they were sitting neatly right on the middle of her bed. Her flat had been locked up while she was away and nobody else would have been in.

Ages after she was at a psychic who told her your Grandfather is still laughing about hiding your silly shoes.

Her grandad died in the 60s. This would have been the 80s.

This one isn’t so much scary, I actually find it very comforting if anything.
A couple of years ago I had a miscarriage, it was only early on, not far along enough for us to even have told most people but I was devastated none the less. We were lucky enough to conceive our son within a few months of this happening, which I think is the only silver lining I can find. Not that I would ever say I’m glad we lost the first one, of course not but I dealt with the loss by telling myself if we’d had that one we wouldn’t have our son with us today. At times I’ve felt so torn, and almost guilty for feeling this way (it might sound silly) as if I’ve “chosen” our son and discarded the other baby. I know it’s physically impossible but if I could’ve had both of them here I would.
Anyway since our son was born I’ve noticed that I’ve started seeing white feathers all over the place. In our garden, walking down the street, at the shop, at work. Literally everywhere I go I’ve seen them. I haven’t even mentioned it to my partner because he’s not a believer at all in this kind of thing and I’d feel silly trying to convince him, but I’m taking it as a sign from our first unborn baby that they are around…. Somewhere…. And they’re okay wherever they are🤍 I really hope my feeling is right, it brings me a lot of peace whenever I see one.

I just discovered this thread a few days ago and have been binge reading it since. So apologies to anyone who got notifications from me “liking” years old posts 😂

I would say I’m fairly open minded with this sort of stuff, but am more inclined to believe than to not (partly because I want to believe, I find it comforting). I’ve never seen anything where I’ve been like “100% that was a ghost” but a few things have happened that I struggle to find an explanation for.

I work night shifts in a mental health hospital (it’s a new-ish building from the mid 2000’s, but the site was an old Victorian asylum which was knocked down and rebuilt. I never worked in the original building but literally every one of my colleagues who did has a story to tell!)
I’ve heard my name being called, several times I’ve heard the sound of something being dragged along the bedroom corridor, seen figure-like shadows, felt a sudden icy coldness followed by a motion sensor activated light switching on!

Outside of work, a few times when I was a kid (no recent occurrences since I was a teenager, they do say kids are more open to this kind of intuition), I had dreams of people I knew dying, for them to pass a few days/weeks later 😭 some you could argue it was maybe my subconscious preparing me for the inevitable as people were already ill. But in at least two cases that I can remember (one being my grandad and one being a family dog) we had absolutely no way of knowing as they were very short illnesses. I like to think that these “predictions” were on some level the people in question letting me know that it was their time to go and they were ready. I don’t know if this could be the case but it brings me comfort to think this.

i have a few more strange occurrences I could post about, will come back when I have more time to word it eloquently.

I’ve seen a lot of people here talk about having sleep paralysis, which thankfully I’ve never experienced. I did, and sometimes still do, get something called Alice In Wonderland Syndrome though when laid in bed while still awake. It’s a bizarre feeling but I remember growing up thinking it was normal and not thinking too much of it, until one day I somehow got talking to someone else who’d experienced it too. Basically it just messes with your whole sense of spatial awareness/distances/proportions. I describe it as feeling as though I’m in a dolls house. I’d look at the wall right next to my head and it’d seem miles away, yet somehow at the same time I had a feeling of being too big for the room, like I couldn’t sit up cos my head would touch the ceiling. Absolutely bizarre really. I rarely get it as an adult but every now and again it drops up, usually if I’m ill or very tired.

I can tell you the story of quite possibly the most scared I have ever been, although written down it sounds like nothing!
I can’t remember the name of the hotel, but if this helps anyone identify it, it would’ve been around 2003 (ish, give or take a year or so either way), a National Holidays one night trip to Legoland, the overnight stay being in a nearby hotel not legloand itself.
I don’t remember it seeming a particularly scary place in daylight, don’t think it was that old but could be wrong. Even on the evening getting ready for bed nothing scared me. I couldn’t sleep that night at all for some reason, I was laid there just absolutely wide awake. From around 11pm onwards, every hour or so I would hear what sounded like a maids trolley being wheeled along the corridor, I do remember thinking that’s odd, what a weird time to send a maid/cleaner round when people will be in bed. Then I’d hear the trolley stop outside our door and a minute or so later I’d feel the end of my bed go down as if someone was sat on the edge of the bed, they’d stay for maybe around 10 seconds then go. I barely dared open my eyes all night but I heard/felt this thing happen 5 or 6 times and I just laid there absolutely terrified! Every time I heard the trolley I just knew that whatever/whoever it was was coming to my bed. The silly thing was my mam and little sister were sharing a double bed in the same room as me so I could’ve easily just climbed in with them, but being a teenager I didn’t want to admit to being a scaredy cat. I had foolishly insisted when we first entered the room that I would not be seen dead sharing a bed with either of those losers 🤣🙈

My sister saw a medium while I was pregnant but before we’d told anyone if it was a boy/girl or the names we’d chosen. (bit of background our Nana & Grandad died of cancer within 5 day of each other when we were in our teens) The medium kept saying “Your Nana is thrilled about *name*, she’s so happy”. But my sister was insistent she knew no-one with that name.
The next day I send my sister a pic of our 20 wk scan with the caption “say hello to *name*!” She rang me straight away sobbing saying “Nana knows!!” It made me so happy she knew and still brings me comfort.

I have a few it involves my parents house - very old Victorian house! Now both my parents had things happen to them and both my siblings! One who refuses to be alone there.

my sister and I lived on the third floor (attic type rooms a joined) she was old enough to have a boyfriend and would stop at his house. Now every time she was out when I went to bed I heard talking in her bedroom and walking around etc. It was vile.

Everything would always go missing, I was clumsy and lost my stuff a lot. But it happened to my mam a lot and then she would find it in the middle of the floor.. or somewhere really stupid!

The most disgusting one which still fills me with terror to this day is .. I was in the bath reading Harry Potter nothing scary just reading .. my mind wasn’t wandering. + I heard a noise .. a tap or a gulp but didn’t think anything of it (I was focused on my book) and then it kept happening. Then right in my ear it was a VERY loud harsh whisper of my name, just *NAME* really loudly.
I ran out the bath/bathroom and down the stairs bollock naked screaming my head off (17 at the time) and my Mam still says to this day she has never seen me look so frightened.

i used to be in my room hear the front door go, my dad throw his keys on the kitchen table etc. I would rush down to see him ... no one there.

I have since moved out and my mam says she was washing the dishes and the back door opened and closed - the noise of the handle etc - and it shouted ‘mam I’m home’ in my voice - and she knew it wasn’t me as I live 200 miles away and she said she didn’t turn around because it had never used my voice before.

last one or ill be here all day. My dad doesn’t really believe in anything. He was in the living room one night and the main lampshade caught his eye .. it looked like it was moving .. and it started swinging (it has tassels on it) the ironed clothes on the back of the door started swinging and when he looked back to the lampshade ..a figure walked into the television.

my niece used to go half way up the stairs and whisper into the corner of the wall and when we were like what you doing get down - she said she was talking to the man.
😑
