Ffs!
My loft hatch is in my bedroom! 😂
I have always had a problem with loft hatches
With mine though it has a lock and a key that hangs down
Like to think you can’t get out if it’s locked as the catch goes into a bit of tight wood if that makes sense so if anyone was up there they couldn’t turn it !
We have a big attic and when it's windy it seems to create some sort of vacuum and slide the loft hatch back (not spooky only happens when windy). Last week I was hoovering and looked up to see it verrrry slowly sliding back. I stood there for a full minute fully expecting the ghost child from the Grudge to appear 🤣

@catergorically_stupid - that sounds terrifying I hope you were ok ❤

I know what you mean about moments of absolute clarity though. I used to work in a huge building the canteen serviced 300+ people, one December morning went down for breakfast and the cashier said 'oh were putting one £100 voucher in a cracker to give out this lunch'. I turned to my friend and said 'I'm going to win that' ...the thought hadn't even gone through my brain....it just came out my mouth! Friend was like 'err ok' 😄. Come lunch different cashier handing out the crackers from an industrial sized box...I won !
Another is one summer my MIL came around to look at hotels for an Xmas trip we were planning, she started showing me hotels online and I remember just having this moment where my mind went 'but she won't be here' the thought was so shockingly sudden and clear (she wasn't ill and of course I didn't vocalise it). Several months later she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer and sadly passed 3 weeks after that. In hindsight I really wish I'd had casually said something about her getting a check up but worried about sounding crazy 😔

My nephew and my sister had died recent to this event. My husband and I were sleeping overnight in my family home, which we were in the process of readying for the market. It was a very emotional time for me, and there was a lot of friction in the family at the time ( I've since become estranged from my other, vile siblings). We were both woken up at the same time in the dead of night. There was a male presence in the room, and we were both terrified to hear what I would describe as laboured breathing, which became louder and louder, and became a wheeze - like someone having an asthma attack, right up against us. I shudder even now as I recall it. We clung on to each other, and this noise lasted a couple of minutes, then faded away. I believe it was either the spirit of my late Dad, who had lung disease or of my nephew. Although its hard to rationalise such experiences. This is not the only one I have had, by the way.

I was reading storm advice yesterday and it said to open your loft hatch to alleviate the pressure thus stopping your roof blowing off.

Keep your roof / let the ghouls get you ... tough choice 😳

I should not be reading this thread at night. I'm locked in my little office at work(I work in a hospital) and the past few hours on and off I have been hearing these growling noises. I just heard it really loud and someone just proper pounded on the door. Shit me right up, I looked out the peephole but there isnt anyone there. I think its a patient gone walkies....this office freaks me out at night as it is.

Me too, I feel sorry for the landlord too!
He seemed really down and apparently he was falling behind on mortgage payments because he couldn't get regular tenants. He practically begged me not to leave that day.

I still don't believe I saw a ghost. I do believe that we sometimes experience things in a different sequence to the 'timeline' humans create, and that can be confusing / weird. I've often wondered if it was related to that. My friends have theories that there were squatters in the top floor flat which is even scarier than seeing a ghost I think. But then it doesn't explain multiple people seeing the "cleaning lady" whilst they lived there. Very, very odd.

Not a creepy story I think it’s quite nice. I was always a non believer to be honest until this. And context we live 8hrs away from MiL
When my FiL died a friend gave me 1 of those necklaces that can hold some of the persons ashes. I took it home with me and put it in my bigger handbag so I knew where it was. 8 months later we decided to scatter his ashes in his favourite place. So packed cases etc but I took a smaller handbag. Realised half way into journey that I’d forgotten this necklace. Got to her house, told her I’d forgot it. Searched my little bag just in case. Nope I’d left it at home
Morning of the scattering I opened my bag for something. And there, sitting on the top was the necklace. Nobody could believe it and I know 110% I’d left it at my house. After that I started to believe there maybe something in the afterlife. Since then when I’m feeling a bit off, I’ll smell tobacco smoke (he was a smoker) it’s as if he’s checking up on me. I smelt it the day before my stroke, I think he was trying to warn me.

I live in a really old house in the middle of nowhere. This house is definitely haunted. I've had so many experiences, but to not out myself on here, I'll just tell a couple of things that have happened that I haven't told anyone I don't live with.

Sometimes when I hang the washing outside, I look up to the master bedroom and see a blonde woman in a floral sage green dress. She has her hair in a low bun and she is so beautiful. I see her standing to the side of the window watching me. When I look at her she disappears.

I bought an antique mirror that I hadn't hung yet, so it was leaning against the dining room wall until my husband could drill it onto the wall.

One day I was vacuuming, and I was standing next to the mirror with my back to it. I felt something push me from inside the mirror. I now never walk next to it for fear of it happening again!

I often feel someone brushing my hair whilst I'm trying to sleep.

Things always move and go missing. Now if something goes missing I say it'll probably turn up tomorrow where it was left, and it does!

We often hear young kids laughing or crying which is unnerving, especially as we have no neighbours! I hated having baby monitors!

These are the least scary things tbh.

I very strongly think that places and objects can hold residual energy. Whenever I have ‘felt’ a presence in a house or building (usually unseen or corner of the eye job) I can usually tell if the energy is male/female adult/child and nice/unwelcoming. One example was visiting a new work friends house in the early 90s, he still lived with his parents and I was picking him up to go to the pub and I asked to use the toilet (it was a beautiful house and his parents later told me that the lounge was the original part of the house dating from the late 17th century and other parts had been added on over the years). Anyway I digress, my friend told me the only toilet they had was in the family bathroom which was upstairs and at the end of the landing. As I went up stairs I felt a feeling of apprehension in my stomach and I knew that if I continued to the top and turned into the hallway that something was waiting for me and that that something was a little girl (my friend was the youngest child in the house and he was 22!). I don’t know how I knew this or why this child was waiting for me but I decided not to visit the loo and went back downstairs. I visited the house many times after this and when toilet trips were unavoidable I would literally run along the hallway, head down eyes half shut, incase I should see the child, sometimes I felt her there strongly and other times not so much. I wouldn’t say she was a friendly energy either I definitely felt an air of spitefulness there. I am still friends with this guy but his parents have long since sold the house, I did ask him once, many years later, if the house had any ghosts, he said that he and his family had never seen anything but a friend of one of his sisters had stayed the night and said she had woken in the night to see a small girl staring at her from the end of her bed, she was sharing a room with the sister and woke her up but the small girl had disappeared and the friend was a gibbering wreck but they just put it down to her having too much to drink/a bad dream.

My old bloke has recently started his games again after being quiet for some time

First off the kitchen scissors vanished from the drawer along with one of my sharp cutting knives from the block by the sink; I turned the kitchen upside down searching, I had all the drawers out, cleaned them throughly whilst I was at it then put it all back but there was no sign of the missing items so I replaced them. OH said it was me not putting things back where they should be again of course (thats rich coming from him!), but why the hell would I do that then drive myself barmy looking for them?

Anyway last week (about a month after the things vanished) I was rummaging in the drawer looking for the scissors to open some packaging and there on top of the other pair of snips was the original pair alongside the missing knife which is odd because I never keep sharp knives in that cutlery drawer anyway; He's brought them back again after another of his Games :)

I’m a psychic medium and I’ve been struggling for a business name. Last week I had a dream that my grandad was sitting at a table and we were talking and then he slid me a piece of paper and it had a business name on it he even included butterflies in the design which I never thought about xx

@AlanBanan This has just freaked me out, wow! I've lived in two houses with activity but never anything so violent. Jesus.
That is the best way to describe the house. It was awful to be in. You could be happy and then the second you walk into the door. You get an overwhelming fear of being hurt and dread.

One time with my cousins and sister. We heard stuff downstairs and no one else was at home because the adults were at the pub (it was the 90s) and we got a bit brave and went downstairs to the sitting room to investigate. Nothing was there except for the fact the television turned on, fine we must’ve left it turned on, but all of us had a feeling not to turn around as there was something behind us watching.

Also about the bedroom, no one was allowed to go into there by themselves incase something happened. When my dad was pushed down my aunt heard a thud and ran upstairs and seen my dad red in the face on the ground and thought he was having a heart attack. Then when he told her something was pushing down on his chest, and she was like “oh that happens sometimes” as if it was the most normal thing.

They sound major to me 😱
I got used to it after a while as long as someone was with me. We could (sort of) joke about it "oh they're moving the beds again" kind of thing. Still freaky when you'd go into your bedroom and find the bed a couple of foot off the wall, despite knowing it wasn't like that when you left it that morning.

Things used to move around in the cupboards too. Items you knew were in one cupboard in the morning would be somewhere else when we'd get home in the evening. We had cctv over the front door and nobody was ever filmed coming in during the day when we were at work.

Maybe someone was living in the attic lol!

Moved out after a year.

Many years ago on a very wet & windy night, me & a friend were walking back from the gym to my house to watch a horror film & you had to walk past a creepy old graveyard to get there, the roads were silent. It was pitch black & the only source of light was from the torch on our phones, as we were approaching the graveyard i dared him to go in & walk to the end & back just to see if he wasn’t a chicken. The perfect way to get us in the horror film mood! He agreed but only if i went with him, so off we went making eachother jump on the way. After a good 10 minutes of messing around, we decided to leave & as we were heading towards the gate, something told me to look over my left shoulder so of course i did. I couldn’t believe my eyes when i saw a bright flickering flame from a pillar candle, completely unbothered by the wind & rain. It certainly wasn’t alight when we walked in, my friend absolutely shit himself & grabbed me out of there. For some reason I didn’t feel scared, i was so curious I went back the next morning to investigate & it was a grave of a little boy, 8 years old, i still get goosebumps thinking about it!

so regards to my earlier post- my sleep paralysis has stopped, sometimes I do wake up as if I’m in a parallel universe but it quickly stops and there’s no man outside my door anymore so I’m convinced it was the thc liquid that did it🤣

another story- when me and my bf first got together they had rescued a cat, Enchilada, small skinny thing been treated so bad and just turned up on his doorstep one day poor thing. They had it for around 2 months before I met him. She was so timid and also a wee sweetheart you could tell she just had shitty owners😢 My bfs house is around 21 years old and it was a new build at the time so no previous owners, however, the floorboards in every room were squeaky and my bf always said it was his dad walking around (his dad died when he was 1). When I would stay sometimes I would wake in the night to the floorboards in his room randomly squeaking over where he was sleeping and this still happens but I’m more used to it now. I came to his house from work one day and he said that Enchilada had gone missing, she was a house cat so was never out even if we opened the door for the other cat she still wouldn’t go out so we knew it was serious. We ended up having to give up search and just hope she would find her way back or someone would put a post up that they had found her. That night I jolted awake with the floorboards creaking but it seemed so loud and went on for a while, I shook my bf to wake him but he wouldn’t wake up so I tried to just get back to sleep. I ended up in this dream where I seen my bf’s dad and he was looking at me saying “she’s here now please let them know” and he kept saying it over and over. The next day I told my bf about it and he thought it was strange but we both just brushed it off. My bf text me later on that day and said they had found Enchilada under his bed and she had passed, right beside the floorboard that creaks. I thought the dream I had must’ve been his dad telling me she had passed and was with him🥺

When I moved in to my first flat with my eldest who was 1, she used to tell me she could see a man in the corner of her bedroom with a tall hat on. Things also used to go missing, eg, I lost my driving license. Looked everywhere. Ordered a new one, and months later, it was just sitting on the windowsill. After we moved out, I found the new people who lived there didn’t stay long, as they had things constantly thrown off the walls. Glad I left him there!
Also, when I was younger, I used to live in a house I was petrified of. I don’t think I ever experienced anything, but I was so scared of it. When my nan died a couple of years ago, I was talking to an aunt who had bought the house from us. She was saying how haunted it was, which made me well up as my mum never believed me!! My aunt once saw someone up at my brothers old window from outside. My mum then confessed that she saw something standing next to her bed when my dad was away. She thought it was him, but he obviously wasn’t there!
Oh, my aunt also rented the house out after they moved. Apparently the people she rented to had a dog, who ripped up one of the rooms 😱 so scary
So you have one who pinches things like mine does! Once he nicked my husband's work belt but with so much moaning bought him a new one, then a few days later I was putting some stuff into the storage room there was said belt in a neat coil sitting on the seat of an old chair! I'd not been in that room for ages so its not like I'd picked the belt up and inadvertantly let it there and OH certainly would not have tidied up his own junk because he never does, however this does not happen all the time though, just every-so-often something will disappear then I'll drive myself nuts looking for it for a few days after which back it comes again. Incidentally, my bloke has a name - my son who saw him and listened to his bedtime stories told me his name so he is always referred to by that; He's part of the Family :)

When I was around 7, I woke up in the night and saw an old man sitting beside me. What was really strange was that I wasn't scared in the slightest, and I just remember feeling really peaceful. He simply smiled and disappeared.

Fast forward a few months and my mum was sorting through some old boxes from the loft and we came across some photos. We came to one and I recognised the man immediately as the man I had seen that night. It turns out that he was my great grandfather. When I told my mum that he was the man I'd seen, she said "Im not surprised. When you were a baby I put a photo of him on the windowsill above your cot, and asked him to watch over you while you were sleeping. Seems he's still watching over you".

Another one happened about a year ago. Hubby and I had just turned in for the night, and we heard an almighty shreak that sounded like it came from the landing right outside our bedroom. It sounded like a woman screaming. We both sat bolt upright, and being the wimp that I am sent my husband to investigate. He couldn't work out what an earth had caused that noise, all the windows were closed, we hadn't left any devices on. Complete mystery! My husband is a real non-believer in anything paranormal, but even he was really shaken by that, and try as he might cannot debunk this one.

This one isn't a ghost story, but as a kid I had a really creaky wardrobe and my bed was positioned facing it. All of a sudden the door starts to creak open by itself. Turns out the cat had been sleeping in there and she was just letting herself out. Scared the absolute shit out of me until I saw her dart out the room 😂

Wow! That definitely sounds like a dark presence, like you say most likely demonic. What was the history of the house? Was it old? And I wondered why it settled down after your aunt passed
I don’t particularly believe in the theory but my mother thinks my aunt was a clairvoyant and ghosts clinged to her and that even when she was dying in the hospice she mentioned that whatever or whoever was following her is in the hospice with her. There’s also been incidents where family members houses in the same area started having activity whenever my aunt left the house. They think whatever was following my aunt was looking for her at their house.

Back for some more stories now I’ve caught up.

My grandad died about 6 years ago now not long after I moved to another country. We weren’t particularly close but would visit him on birthdays/christmases etc. My family didn’t tell me he was ill straight away as they didn’t want to worry me, so I didn’t find out until he actually passed.

The first few years after he died around 3 or 4 times I’ve woken up in the middle of the night and have been absolutely certain that he was stood in the doorway to the bedroom. I never actually saw him but definitely felt a presence and had a strong feeling that it was him. I travel for work so this has happened in hotel rooms in other countries, as well as my home where I live now (which my husband really wasn’t impressed with when I woke him up one night to tell him my grandad had just been to visit us 😂).

I visited his partner a few years after his death and told her he’s been to visit me, she said she also sees him stood in the doorway of the living room and she tells him to piss off because she’s still angry at him for dying 😂

My dad has also said that he’s seen him in the bedroom doorway in the middle of the night. He must have a thing about doorways! Haven’t seen him for a while so I really hope he’s passed on to a peaceful place now, and like to think that he was just coming to check on me and say goodbye, as we never really had a proper goodbye before I left.

I’ll post about my childhood home in another post as it’s a long one. I’m currently trying to do more research about what was in the area before it was built (I’m sure I was told when I was younger it was a mining area which would make sense).
