Has anyone bought clothes from Sezane? Price tag seems fair in this day and age sadly for cotton clothes and woollen/mohair jumpers etc.
Yes I have a few Sezane things. I really like the brand and the quality is good IME. Just check the content of their knitwear as more synthetics do seem to be creeping in but but generally they seem to be fairly ethical in their garment production.
I LOVE Sezane but it’s a touch out of my price range. Do they do a post Xmas sale? (Hopeful)
I suspect H&M has gone downhill too - I’ve got jumper dresses from there that are at least 10 years old and although they haven’t retained their shape in the same way, there are no bobbles or holes.
Is Zara good for affordable basics? I got some vest tops from there a couple of years ago and they’re still fine but haven’t had a huge amount of wear so I’m not sure how they will be in the long run.

I like Sezane and have found some great pieces in their sales. Their clothes seem to be well-made, good quality and their details make them look more expensive (e.g. I’ve got a couple of higher neck tops with beautiful buttons at the nape of the neck.)
My new approach is to buy less but spend more on individual pieces so instead of two tops, I’d buy one from Sezane or Mint Velvet.

Hush and Arket are better generally than say H&M and Zara but you still have to check the content of their clothes and look at the finishing - it varies massively.
I’ve been looking at fabric content a lot since reading you guy’s comments and I’m amazed at how brands like French Connection want £70 for a jumper that contains zero cotton or wool.
I have also been checking fabric content since reading thisWool, cotton, viscose, silk are all good. Garments made from these fabrics generally feel much nicer to wear and last much longer

I've had a lot of items affected by moths, and also incorrect washing techniques.
Look up ways to protect your clothes from moths. You can mend jumpers if they have moth holes, but of course they won't look the same.
For washing, don't assume you can use your washing machine's wool wash cycle. I ruined some lovely merino wool jumpers from LK Bennett and Whistles recently in my washing machine's wool cycle. If you do want to use your washing machine, put each item into a mesh bag to protect it from getting felted in the machine.
I am too scared to use my machine again, and from now on am just going to hand wash them. Apparently Woolite detergent isn't right to handwash woollens either, and a specialist wool detergent is better.

In the 2000s before this recent inflation tho French connection always was like £60 for a premium synthetic jumper/polyester dress

doubt was intentional though I’m currently having to buy maternity clothes and found one of the few shops with an instore range was George at Asda. Anyway most of their tops and basics are 95% cotton. I bought a couple of tops and they’re very comfortable. Unsure how well they’ll wash etc but pleased with the material and price.
I’ve just checked their website and a lot of their non maternity basics are the same! And very reasonably priced too. Maybe worth a look for plain tops etc.

I'm assuming most people can't really afford to spend big on luxury fashion anymore. Cost of living and all that jazz. Unless you are like proper rich
Does anyone remember Internacionale? I was never a big fan in the 00s, the clothes always felt cheapo so stopped going in.... Maybe it improved?

This is genuinely very sad - FarFetch has done some amazing things in tech and develops great people & personally just love Matches lol. The boycott list grows once again 🫠
