I bet he has the open relationship, and she just puts up with it! He is such a smug git. I have a friend who has an open relationship. There are rules- its not just a shagging free for all!
I think he's going to be playing older Charles in the next season of The Crown....oddly fitting...
Oh it was definitely a case of her going after him! Obviously I do not know them and wish them all the best but I've listened to podcasts with her and there is a couple of things she says that make me think she was the one who wanted the relationship to happen. I might be reading to much into this but in one interview (during the run of Betrayal) she mentions a song she was listening to a lot and the feeling of "really wishing someone was your boyfriend". There are also some other little details in her interviews etc. Of course the feeling has to be mutual, but somehow I do not get this "the seem like a great couple" vibe. She comes across as someone who is very hectic and all over the place. Between the lines there is actually quite a lot you can learn about her and her personality, she talks about being on the verge of quitting acting, being in therapy, having too close relationship with her mum etc. She also seems to have a lot of shallow relationships in the industry and trying to be friends with everyone. I'm sure she also has a ton of wonderful qualities and seems to be doing very well in her career.
I feel like her career has been quite a slow burn, she's known maybe in the UK but not internationally and I can't name anything of note she's done apart from Fresh Meat. She's getting far more roles now so she's definitely speeding up, bagging The Handmaid's Tale and The Marvels is no mean feat. Prior to this her roles in bigger things have been almost invisible and I do think that being with Tom is having a positive effect on her career. I'm not saying that's why she's with him but her career is doing really well these days and she's friendly with a lot of people at Loki, Disney+ and Marvel. I think she's worked hard at her career and tried to expand her network within the industry to get herself more opportunities and I think that's great.
I agree that she comes across as a chaotic personality, always thinking about new ideas and things, she's very confident and likes to talk a lot about what she's thinking and feeling and epiphanies she's had. She's interested in social issues and being vocal about them which I think is great. I do think that she wanted to be with Tom and also knew that he tended to have flings/relationships with his costars in the past like Elizabeth Olsen (let's not go into that story). I also don't get a 'power couple' vibe from Tom and Zawe simply because they do seem mismatched to me. I know fans have spoken about how they both love theatre and literature, how she's 'more intelligent than the average Hollywood actress' and they love how much of a 'deep thinker' they feel she is. There's something about them that I just can't put my finger on but if they do go all the way, I'm really happy for them. I just do get a sense that she's far more here for it than he is. I know some fans had an issue with why he wasn't 'claiming her' publicly, especially the way he was hiding during the run of Betrayal and also not doing a Prince Harry and standing up for her after some of the racist abuse she's been facing from his fans.
I was going to say, funny how dumb all these famous men, are isnt it? They all fall for manipulative women who are rubbish at their jobs, despite being hugely successful. They have no friends but manage to chase them into submission and force them reluctantly into relationships they dont want to have
People do this with Cavill and Cumberbatch and others too, they infantilise them and make it seem like they're just little babies and poor little victims who fall prey to these exploitative, blood sucking women who are using them to secure the bag or climb the ladder socially or professionally. God forbid these men actually find their partners attractive and want a relationship or a good time with them for a short/long while/whatever it is. They just feel like their precious faves can do no wrong and are so gullible and easily led by women who want to destroy their lives and their image. I mean come on, we all know that Tom had a hand in his own demise when it came to Hiddleswift, you can't play that to me or anyone else as Taylor 'using him.'
It's so funny to me how female fans of male celebrities, especially the ones seen as perfect gentleman/amazing boyfriend material, on the one hand want them to date someone in their own age bracket, maybe even someone not model perfect, a "real" woman, but then on the other hand think no woman is good enough for them. When Henry Cavill announced his relationship his female stans went insane, cyber stalking that woman and declaring her trash, convinced this was a PR relationship because she wasn't the perfect flawless person they imagined next to him. I mean, which one is it - do we want them to have a regular a woman, with all her flaws and realness, or do we want to moan about hot male celebrities only dating vapid supermodels that focus their entire personality on being the perfect fit for the successful man?
Tom is 40, he hasn't had a real long term relationship yet it seems, which I consider a red flag. So, he can be lucky that a woman as stunning, intelligent and seemingly devoted as Zawe would want to be with him. I don't see it going anywhere because I honestly have this feeling that Tom isn't really interested in settling down, just like Cavill (also Ben Barnes I would say, another guy all women climax over as "perfect") he likes to talk about wanting a family and whatnot, but I don't see these guys actually slowing down their careers and putting in the work needed to be a family man. Just my two cents. They should do what Gerard Butler does and just embrace perpetual bachelorhood/their fuckboi selves.
No woman who dates any of these famous men can win when it comes to their fans. Even if his girlfriend was a perfect angel they would still point out imaginary flaws or on the other hand get mad that she's so perfect. They always say they want their faves to be happy but when they actually seem happy everyone is up in arms and zooming in on pap pics of them to convince each other that they 'look sad.'
I think Tom's last long term relationship was Susannah Fielding, he was very public with her, kissing her and posing with her on the red carpet but I think after they broke up and he made it big everything went to
tit in his love life. Hiddleswift made it even worse. I think he does want to settle down eventually but is a huge commitment phobe and I think he's also well aware of the impact it'll have on his reputation and his fans if he announces a long term relationship or a marriage. I don't think he's quite ready yet and I think Zawe is, I think she wants to settle down and have a family at some point in the next few years. She spoke about wanting kids 2 years ago when she'd started dating Tom, she clarified that it wasn't in the works, nor was it being planned but it is something she saw for herself. She definitely wants this to be a serious, committed relationship and I think Tom is flaky. On one hand he knows that she wants kids because she's been so public about it, maybe they've discussed it privately too and he's still with her so maybe he wants the same thing and their goals align but it could also be that he's just waiting for an out or when she pushes him too hard for settling down and having a family, he'll buckle and leave which I think is quite cowardly. I think she is devoted to him and wants to have a family with him and I think he's not as into her so I don't see it lasting. If he's in Atlanta for most of next year for Loki then that's another year of his life filled with work, I'm sure he's not going to want to stop there and by that time Zawe will be 38. I don't know how long she'll be willing to wait for him to put time and effort into their relationship if he's serious about settling down. And of course her career is also going up and up so maybe she's not willing to do that yet either.
