(...) saying that she's 'glowing' in the video so she must be pregnant. It never ends.
Couldn't it just be harsh lighting? 🤔😆

I just saw the video and she looks good but tired. "Like a newly pregnant woman!" Crazy fan might add! 🙄
She doesn't look really excited about the prize.

I think it's a huge honour and she should be absolutely thrilled and proud of herself but in the video it sounded like she didn't really care. She sounded depressed or just unhappy with having received the honour and came across as a bit ungrateful in my opinion. I don't know why she's not happy with it or maybe something else is depressing her, I have no idea. Or maybe that's her happy face, I don't know her well enough to say for sure!

Zawe has been made a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature today and as usual some people are moaning and saying that she doesn't have the amount of published work and critique as the other fellows. They're also scrutinising her acceptance/thank you video because it wasn't filmed in the same place as the now infamous 'wall/painting' video, saying that she's 'glowing' in the video so she must be pregnant. It never ends.
I think she actually looks lovely in that video! What's the significance of that post/honor? Her literary output doesn't seem that relevant.

I remember when Tom was going out with Taylor because when I was working in a clothes shop part time in a sleepy seaside town, Tom brought Taylor back to meet his mother who lives there. You have never seen anything like it in your life. This place has a lot of wealthy people with second homes and who come on holiday but it NEVER has paparazzi. There were hordes of people at the end of the private street where his mother lives and paparazzi on the beach photographing Taylor, Tom and his mum walking along. The whole town was abuzz. We always parked our cars just down from where his mum lived, so when I left for the day I could see the photographers who were not allowed any further than the entrance to the private road and there were crying little/teenage girls wanting to meet Taylor. Actually it was all quite stressful and weird having that mix of young girls and then jaded men with huge cameras. Side note, his Mum has a gorgeous house overlooking the sea. Obvs they are loaded as Tom went to Eton.

The Royal Society of Literature had an open call for nominations for their fellowship this year and they said they wanted to specifically have 60 new fellows 'from communities under-represented in UK literature.' She hasn't published much apart from Character Breakdown, won a poetry slam title in 2000 and then was a writer in residence in Manchester for a while. She's written a few plays that have been shortlisted for awards also.

His family are part of the aristocratic Vestey family through his grandfather and his sisters went to Downe House and the Dragon School which Tom also went to, and his younger sister also married into aristocracy. Crazy that you had that experience, it must have been so weird and jarring. I remember walking past a hotel in Mayfair with a gigantic crowd of girls that had been camping there and when I asked what the deal was they told me Taylor Swift was staying there. They were running from the main door to the catering entrance to try and catch a glimpse of her, it was crazy.

I think she does have quite a deadpan face, whenever I've seen her. Also sometimes when people are in certain situations they can withdraw a bit, maybe out of nerves or shock. Actors a lot of the time can be quite reserved in real life, and use acting as a way to be someone else.

🤣 I didn't know the expression "deadpan face" thank you for my morning laugh! 🤣
I think that's what bugged me in her acting in velvet buzzsaw.
I don't know how she is IRL but I felt the same about her short interview at the baftas too : she seemed jaded (and she sounded super posh! I was surprised by that! I had never noticed it before) . Maybe that is a trait of her character. A way to cope with excitement.

He has had a very privileged life.
The Taylor thing was bizarre and yes absolutely jarring in the location we were in. After the day with his Mum, it was said that they got a helicopter down the coast to see Lionel Richie in concert - possibly in Colchester? They were basically doing a massive 'we are in love look at us' tour.

Now I have a tween daughter I am not sure I would want her desperately camped outside someone's house trying to catch a glimpse in floods of tears.

It's just the effect of botox. Notice how her forehead doesn't move. Freshly done or overdone can make you look that way ( and I speak from personal experience ;) )

Botox? But she's barely 37!
I feel like a lot of celebs start the procedures in their early 30s to stand them in 'good stead' for the rest of their careers.

As loaded as Tom's family is, I would bet the chopper belonged to Taylor! The obviousness of the PR stunt never ceases to amaze me even all these years later. Outside the Mayfair hotel there was no adult supervision, just the porters who open the doors standing at the front looking disgusted. At the end of the day when I walked back past the hotel I heard a lot of them moaning that Taylor had taken a more discreet entrance so they hadn't been able to see her. I sometimes wonder if they camped overnight hoping to see her the next morning!

I wasn't particularly impressed with her in Betrayal, she seemed like the weakest link in the cast to me. I liked her in Fresh Meat but her character required a degree of hamming up that you might not call serious acting. I haven't seen Velvet Buzzsaw but she is animated in other things, I saw her on The Big Narstie Show and she seemed like she was having a good time. As someone who's been to boarding school I've heard my fair share of posh accents and she definitely doesn't have a 'regional' accent but I wouldn't call it posh either. She's very forthcoming in interviews like the one she did with The Pool so I think the fact that she was more reserved during the RSL Fellowship video is do to with her mood.

Tom was on Jimmy Fallon last night, seems like he stayed in London and did it over video. I'm surprised he didn't go to the women's or men's finals at Wimbledon over the weekend, he always goes?

I was just thinking the same thing about Wimbledon. I feel that he may be a bit of a "virus-phobe" and therefore not so keen on big reunions like that. Or maybe it was just more comfortable to watch it from home with his lady... 😜

I know all the Tom/Zawe fans were hoping he'd turn up at Wimbledon to 'confirm' the relationship but maybe he was busy or just didn't want to go but I find that hard to believe since he's such a huge fan and wouldn't miss a chance to watch it live on home soil. Perhaps it was the virus fears and rightly so!

I have never seen this before and I’ve just watched it ten times and I am crying with laughter. He is a genius.
I remember people saying that it seemed like he'd been forced to do this at gunpoint, I've never experienced more second hand embarrassment

I have no idea why he thought it was a good idea but yes it does come across that way, his eyes are screaming 😂

I am now laughing again at this article which captures it so beautifully

bless him. He’s not the first to do one of those awful ads and won’t be the last, at least he’s a total sweetheart who knows how to wear a suit.
