I feel so sad for Jamie Dornan, I loved him in The Fall and he should be getting so much better work. I can't name one thing he's done of note since Fifty Shades, it's clear how much he hated it and his discomfort every time he promoted it with Dakota Johnson.

In this press tour Tom's done GQ, Radio 1, Radio 2, Buzzfeed, Vanity Fair, Jimmy Kimmel, MTV, Collider, Variety, Good Morning America and countless other geek-related podcast/interview things. Owen Wilson and Gugu Mbatha-Raw have also been promoting the show but not like he has so I don't understand the audacity of his fans to accuse Marvel of somehow glossing over Loki. I feel like whatever he does, it's not enough for them. I think he regretted talking about his house in Hampstead in previous interviews and he's refrained from giving out those personal details, not just about his love life but about anything. Still people scrutinise literally everything which is how they figured out he and Zawe had the same wall behind them in interviews and how she hung the Archipelago picture behind her to intentionally send a message that she was living with and dating Tom. It's all just such a crazy business.

Social media has also given people far more expectation from celebrities than before. Even celebs who are known for acting/singing share more of their lives on social media now so people expect that from others too and the ones who don't want to do it are branded uncooperative or just have to run the risk of not having that much of a public profile as their more online counterparts. They don't seem to get it when actors say that their work should speak for itself and knowing too much about an actor's private life can interfere with how you perceive their work, as well as the fact that the two have entirely no relation at all. You don't need to know about an actor's private life to enjoy his performance. But I think that there's recently been an increase in people wanting to know more private things about their idols and celebs than before because they want to know if their socio-political views align with them, whether they've done or believe things that are abhorrent and then the fans can make a choice about whether they want to give them their coin. Celebs run the risk of being branded problematic (rightly so in many cases) if they make too many comments about their private life and beliefs and if they don't talk about them then people feel like they have something to hide.

I respect Tom for being a bit more closed off now and not letting much slip, I feel like he'll be happier in his personal life that way. Before he would get annoyed and when his fans said 'I love you' and 'you're perfect' at the stage door when he was doing Coriolanus he responded with 'no, you don't, you don't even know me' and 'I'm not, you don't know me' and was clearly 'upset' by their behaviour. I'm glad he's not engaging with people on that level anymore and that he's just trying to stay out of it and not get so stressed by it.
Totally agree with you. I wish more actors would say this. Some fans are really overly invested in actors and actresses, and many of them arent love struck teenagers but grown adults who are living in a fantasy land where they think complete strangers are their friends. It's how Armie Hammer got young women to sleep with him and get involved in bdsm.

I feel like a lot of the fandoms these days are filled with obsessed middle aged women who have a feral level of interest in certain actors which would scare anyone. It can kind of be excused in teenagers but with grown adults who should know better it's extra creepy. When it comes to Armie, I think Effie was just so excited to be meeting directors and actors and living that life he was promising her and I think it was the same for all the other unnamed women he abused. At the end of the day actors are just normal people who happen to be involved in entertaining people via a TV/cinema screen and that shouldn't make you feel like you know them personally or ought to know any more than they're willing to say.

The Night Manager is good, you should watch it!
I would like to see it, I have only read good reviews about it, but I didn't find it to download anywhere.

How weird must it be to have total strangers come to you and say things like that.
About social media, I agree about your analysis, and I would add this: people want to get as close as possible to the magic that there is in all forms of art. Like when we want to know more about Picasso's life, it's because it makes us think we will finally understand how and why he was such a genius. As if unravelling the very core of his being would get us closer to "The Secret". As an artist myself, I am always surprised by what I see in people's eyes when they come to see me during an art show: they want to know what is so special about me (answer: nothing, really, I just love to paint).
But the truth is you can be a giant mole and still be a genius, history is full of examples of it.
Does it make any sense? I had a very tiring day and it feels like my brain is slowly shutting down... 😅

That does make sense. I do a bit of writing ( just for my family and to enter into competitions really) and I am just fascinated by sci fi writers. Its just completely out of this world to me that stuff so weird comes out of their brains! I've tried writing sci fi and it always comes out so derivative, and the more I try the more I'm fascinated by it, because- just how??! Agree many geniuses are total holes. Maybe its some kind of superiority complex, being called a genius all the time!

The way you feel about sci-fi writers I feel the same about abstract painters! Just how!?! 😆

I get the impulse to want to know more about celebs' private lives because it might offer an insight into their work but it can also lead to people drawing completely the wrong conclusion about what kind of person they are. The sad thing about letting strangers into your private life is that it's open to interpretation so they can think things about you which aren't true at all because they're looking for a deeper meaning.

I also think that Tom and Zawe might end up having kids, she did that interview about wanting children a few months after they started dating so clearly he knows that this is on the agenda for her and they're still together so I'm sure it's something he wants too. I see some people are wanting him to appear at Wimbledon with her as a low key way to 'confirm' their relationship but I don't think he will. He's due in New York on July 12th for Jimmy Fallon so I doubt he'll be able to make it to the Wimbledon final like usual.

He's been to Wimbledon with her before, hasnt he? Why didnt that confirm his relationship with her?

Unfortunately for Tom like others have said, his short lived relationship with TS definitely affected his credibility for a long time. They weren’t actually a publicity stunt, the pap that took the original RI beach pictures said he got tipped off (by a local or neighbour I believe) that she was at her place there with a famous actor. And Taylor at the time was more publicly open with her boyfriends (always getting papped with whoever she was dating at the time) whereas nowadays she’s learnt her lesson and we barely get any pap pics with her and Joe, she’s very private and low key now.

He went to the US Open with her when they were in New York for Betrayal on Broadway and I think people thought he was just going to watch the tennis with a friend/costar he was starring opposite in the play he was doing at the time. They were pictured out in New York during the play's run but again people just thought he was going out for drinks with a costar. Then when he was in Atlanta last year filming Loki, she was pictured at a restaurant with him but I don't think that picture has circulated a lot, and she was also seen by an unrelated fan in Atlanta walking around by herself so of course people were thinking why would she be in Atlanta if it wasn't to be with Tom? It was a bit strange to me that she was spotted in Atlanta walking around by herself and someone noticed her enough to want a selfie with her since I think that in the UK, she's not that well known so why would she be well known in the US?

I think they met at the Met Gala and there was that awkward video that surfaced of them dancing together which is where all the talk started so I think it was a mix of PR and real. I highly, highly doubt Tom found her intellectually stimulating or on the same page as him for most things. I'm not saying she's stupid because I really don't think she is, I think she's a really intelligent woman but she doesn't have the same kind of vibe as Tom. Of course opposites can attract and really, we know nothing about what Tom and Taylor are actually like so maybe it was 100% real and romantic. However the pictures in Suffolk were totally, completely staged. The way he was walking with his mum and the way both of them had their arms around his mum was just....weird and clearly playing up to the cameras. She was dating Joe while with Tom so clearly she didn't love Tom or intend to be with him for that long and I think that lends credibility to the fact that this was a publicity stunt. I think it's up there with some of the worst pap strolls/showmances in history along with Henry Cavill and Kaley Cuoco.

Oh yeah they definitely met first at the Met Gala but I’m probably a bit biased as I’ve been a fan of Taylor for 12 years (got a tumblr account with thousands of followers lmao) and I’m very versed in Taylor and her relationships etc etc (can’t tell you how much time I’ve spent analysing every song on every album). Her and Tom were legit but maybe the paps were called here and there but we can’t really say for sure and Taylor at the time was papped everywhere especially with whoever she was dating.

And no she wasn’t cheating on Tom with Joe, her and Joe met earlier in the year through mutual friends and were just friends at the time and then she met Tom and they dated for 3 months or whatever it was and then they broke up in the summer (early summer), then Taylor went back to NY and she met up with Joe at some point (going by one of her songs he messaged her first to meet up) when he was in NY during press for his film and they started hooking up which developed into a full blown relationship after a few months.

Tom was just an unfortunate rebound, Taylor was a mess during 2016 and she probably felt really crap about her break up with Calvin and Tom was just kinda there you know? But I don’t think the connection or chemistry was there from her side anyways. Just a standard post break up whirlwind romance that wasn’t really going to go anywhere.

I don't buy that she and Tom were 100% legit because it was just so obviously staged, maybe there were some real feelings but they were using each other for publicity and it just didn't work out right because she ended up making him look stupid. If the song she wrote about him is to be believed, she was already seeing or at the very least had feelings for Joe while she was with Tom. And yes, I agree that she and Tom weren't destined to be serious at all, it was far too much of a mismatch.

In other news, it seems like Zawe has just followed Shishi Rose on Instagram, an advocate for black women's birth and postpartum rights/knowledge/information which is making people think that Zawe is either pregnant or trying for a baby with Tom.

The Taylor this was a fling that they used for PR basically. However, I don’t seen why everyone gets all up in arms about it considering there are actors who are actually bad people who seem to get a pass compared to Tom.

Zawe was not only spotted in Atlanta but she did interviews in thesame hotel room as the place he was staying at. Similar to how they recently did interviews in the same room.

his fans will find any way to deny their relationship but will scream PR if he confirms so it’s probably best to carry on as normal and not publicise

I see some people saying that because he's keeping it so low key it's serious but I feel like he would keep any relationship low key after the Hiddleswift saga. I've also seen that some people are suggesting she's far more into him than he is into her and I have to say I kind of agree with that. I get that vibe from them.

Zawe was also at the vet in Atlanta that they took Bobby to when he swallowed a raisin and got sick. They're definitely together, just keeping it on the down low. They've not been photographed together in London at all even though they're quite clearly living together which I find a bit strange.

Oh it was definitely a case of her going after him! Obviously I do not know them and wish them all the best but I've listened to podcasts with her and there is a couple of things she says that make me think she was the one who wanted the relationship to happen. I might be reading to much into this but in one interview (during the run of Betrayal) she mentions a song she was listening to a lot and the feeling of "really wishing someone was your boyfriend". There are also some other little details in her interviews etc. Of course the feeling has to be mutual, but somehow I do not get this "the seem like a great couple" vibe. She comes across as someone who is very hectic and all over the place. Between the lines there is actually quite a lot you can learn about her and her personality, she talks about being on the verge of quitting acting, being in therapy, having too close relationship with her mum etc. She also seems to have a lot of shallow relationships in the industry and trying to be friends with everyone. I'm sure she also has a ton of wonderful qualities and seems to be doing very well in her career.

Not being rude and not saying you are one of them but the things you have said remind me of what his possessive fans have said about her.
They do this anytime he gets a girlfriend, they try to make it out like she's some blood sucking worm who is pursuing a relationship with him while he doesn't want it/he's too good for her.

Zawe is a very intelligent woman, who just seems to be more open about her feelings. I don't understand how people come to the conclusion that "she's way more into the relationship than him" when again we have hardly seen them together, we haven't even seen them interact romantically.

Again not saying you are meaning to come across like this but these are the sorts of things his fans bring up to justify why he's too good or to discredit women

I was going to say, funny how dumb all these famous men, are isnt it? They all fall for manipulative women who are rubbish at their jobs, despite being hugely successful. They have no friends but manage to chase them into submission and force them reluctantly into relationships they dont want to have :D :D

Oh I definitely didn't intend to come across like that. I actually think she seems like a great person. Inteligent, outspoken and very resilient. I might have presented my point in a way where I stressed out only the things I took away from the interviews that make her look a bit neurotic. I was just trying to explain my opinion that I think it was a case of her pursuing things and I do not mean it in a negative way. Haven't we heard endless stories of men wishing someone was their girlfriend? ;)
I do not want to spread a theory of her forcing him, manipulating him or bewitching him to be with her ;). I would call them equals and I definitely do not think he is too good for her or any of that gibberish. The main thing I was trying to communicate is how much you can actually learn about someones personal life from them casually talking on a podcast.
Also I can not point out enough I do not know these people in real life. Just because they do not strike me like a couple who has instantly hit it off and is a great match it has no bearing on their relationship (which seems to be a very serious one). Obviously the relationship has to be a mutual thing I just think they have very different personalities and ways of leading their lives. It seems like she has all the qualities to succeed in this industry and she is doing very well in her career but at the same time these qualities somehow strike me as things that make your life difficult and not very relationship strengthening (if that makes any sens).

It's so funny to me how female fans of male celebrities, especially the ones seen as perfect gentleman/amazing boyfriend material, on the one hand want them to date someone in their own age bracket, maybe even someone not model perfect, a "real" woman, but then on the other hand think no woman is good enough for them. When Henry Cavill announced his relationship his female stans went insane, cyber stalking that woman and declaring her trash, convinced this was a PR relationship because she wasn't the perfect flawless person they imagined next to him. I mean, which one is it - do we want them to have a regular a woman, with all her flaws and realness, or do we want to moan about hot male celebrities only dating vapid supermodels that focus their entire personality on being the perfect fit for the successful man?

Tom is 40, he hasn't had a real long term relationship yet it seems, which I consider a red flag. So, he can be lucky that a woman as stunning, intelligent and seemingly devoted as Zawe would want to be with him. I don't see it going anywhere because I honestly have this feeling that Tom isn't really interested in settling down, just like Cavill (also Ben Barnes I would say, another guy all women climax over as "perfect") he likes to talk about wanting a family and whatnot, but I don't see these guys actually slowing down their careers and putting in the work needed to be a family man. Just my two cents. They should do what Gerard Butler does and just embrace perpetual bachelorhood/their fuckboi selves.

I had to look up Ben Barnes as I had no idea who he is. I am underwhelmed, but then I don't get the appeal of Hiddleston either. I can understand Cavill as he is big and buff etc although that is not what I go for. Zawe Ashton seems too cool for Hiddleston, however I hope he is not a fool to her and breaks her heart due to his tendency for short lived romances.
