My nearly 4 year old (4 in less than a month) had her tonsils removed at the start of August, and to cut a long story short, 8 days later suffered a large bleed and was hospitalized for a few days while they investigated. She is severely anemic and is now on multiple meds for the foreseeable.
She's not a lazy child, attends pre school full time as I work, so is on the go a lot. She has always been very very pale and they believe she will have always been anemic, I'm pale and blonde so we've always put it down to just her genes. While she is on the go at pre school, I cannot for the life of me get her to walk anywhere, and it's not from lack of trying either. She gets so tired and says her legs are tired. On Saturday I asked her to walk around town for a little while with the promise of a magazine, she tried her best but was so upset from feeling so tired. I am wondering if this is down to the anemia? For context the average 4 year olds HB levels are 120, my daughters were 70 and there is still a chance she will need a transfusion if her levels haven't risen at her next blood test.
I don't want her to rely on a buggy forever but I also don't want to put pressure on her health, she is already far too big for her current joie stroller (she's 105cm) but is under the weight limit (14.1kg).
I'm at a loss. I see so many children younger than her walking everywhere and I can tell people look at her when she uses it.
