Hi all! I hope everyone is well. Took a bit of a break during our first family vacation together. We went to Copenhagen for a few days. Was great and now we’re back and Toddler Bluebird has a new skill ?? She has 3 teeth and is grinding them and I’m not sure what to do. She has two bottom and one right canine and seems to be getting some more
Uppers currently.
Do I do anything about it or just leave it?
How was Copenhagen? A place I’d love to visit 😊

I hattttteeeee teeth grinding, but it usually passes quickly. I actually do stick my finger in their mouth to urge them to stop though because it drives me insane.

Hi all!
I have a potential chicken pox situation.
my lo has had a temp, cough & cold since yday & her entire body had broken out in small raised bumps last night. However this morning they still look the same & she says they aren’t itchy at all. Is this chicken pox or something else?
She’s not allergic to anything as far as I’m aware, & these little pimples r on her abdomen, thighs, forearms & legs. Does anyone have a day by day breakdown on chicken pox? When do they form into the itchy blisters & when would they start itching?

Mine has chicken pox which are now scabbing. The first one was a massive blister on his back and nothing else for a couple of days. He’s had it really mild, probably about 20 spots in total. I know they say that once you see one they all start coming, but his took about 4 days to all come out

Anyone just sick to the back teeth of their 2 year old shouting at them? Tell me I’m not alone.

He can talk. But decides to just shout noises and grunt at me sometimes and if I don’t respond immediately it gets louder and louder.

I’m even more pissed off than usual today because family have flaked on me again. I’ve been so looking forward to seeing people other than my dirty dishes and dirty toddler bum and now it’s another day.

Do they only itch once they r filled with pus or is it itchy from the get go? She’s getting loads of little pimples & it looks like tiny mosquito bites but it’s not itchy at all?

I found he was quite itchy from day 3, but only because he didn’t get them in one go and they were all healing at different times. Could she maybe have a viral rash if she’s got a snotty nose etc

I was really panicking about them catching the pox from their cousins in March as we were going on holiday, so every spot they had worried me. However, when he got his first spot, I knew it was the pox

Most toddlers go through this phase. Toddlers mirror our own behaviour. I know it’s difficult but only respond in a calm & quiet voice, they will eventually start to mirror it. If it gets too loud then get down to their level and ask them to use their inside voice like u. calmly tell them you cannot understand them if they are crying/screaming. Once they respond in a reasonable way then u can say ‘thank you for asking nicely’ & then they will start to pick up u only respond when spoken to in a calm manner.
Kids kick off coz parents are their safe space & they are comfortable with showing raw emotion. Also it’s important to acknowledge emotions.
“I can see your upset bcoz of XYZ but once I’ve finished dinner I can play with you. Is that ok?”
“ I know your angry bcoz of XYZ. Let’s sit over here and take some fresh air to calm down and when we are calm we can start again”
“It’s ok so feel sad bcoz XHZ. I feel sad too sometimes but I do this to make me feel better. What makes u feel better?”
kids can also pick up on when a parent is stressed & annoyed & they feed off it. When it gets too much just take a moment to take a breath in the other room.

So true!
I’m going through a really bad time right now with my health and am facing a major surgery.

getting let down by family who say they are coming to lend a hand is so tough too. Plus I’m super tired which never helps does it lol. Lone parent here 247.

Copenhagen was incredible and so great with a kid. The playgrounds are so good! She had a blast. Only thing is their airport makes you check your stroller at check in if it’s not super collapsible, which was annoying, but they did provide strollers in the other side of security

Are all nurseries, including private nurseries, free for 3 year olds?
For 30 hours providing you and your partner work.
But private ones usually stretch it over the whole year rather than term time so you end up with about 25 hours.

Some charge for lunch and lunch hour. Some also charge for things like nappies, food ect.

It's all different.

Thanks. I’m visiting a private one tomorrow as I didn’t like the school nursery he was originally going to.

this is how my daughters started off last July.

Day 1 - had 1 spot on her bum, then they spread to her neck and tina / bum area the same day.
By the next morning she was covered.

Hers didn’t bother her being itchy but she was only 2.5 years old so I don’t think she thought to itch them. She’s got no scars.

I swore by putting her in a shallow warm bath 2 -3 a day and covering her body in head and shoulders, and they soon turned to scabs by day 4 x
