This sounds a lot like my 3yo. He wasn’t saying much pre 2 and started preschool in at 2yrs 3mths. They referred him to speech & language but by the time he saw them his speech came on so well, and he’s doing really well now. He had glue ear from baby and got signed off when he was around the same age as starting pre school. We only got referred because I’ve got a history of family hearing problems. Could you maybe look into this? I’ve also had an ENT app recently because of his adenoids, and even though they aren’t large, they are bigger than they should be which can cause speech problems

(Sorry, I waffled on there 😂)
Sorry for late reply - that’s quite interesting to know, I had to have my adenoids removed when I was 2 so wonder if there’s something going on. Thank you I will consider looking more into this!

Ah, no worries! I only know about the adenoids because my eldest had hers removed and he was presenting the same symptoms as her. I got referred to ent through speech and language as I told the lady I was concerned and she done it all for me. I think I should’ve got mine removed when I was younger as I am quite nasal, but it’s probably too late for me!

Has anyone tried a behaviour chart? His behaviour isn’t even bad really I just wanted a nice reward scheme really and to get him helping and more aware of using the toilet and tidying up. Bought a cute one from Etsy!

Just to add to the nursery conversation. I went in for a few hours for mother's Day (the first time I had stepped inside the rooms for two years!) And it was great. They were all doing little activities supervised or some were independently playing. It was quiet calm tbh.
The only chaotic bit was when we all went outside to play but that's just kids being kids.

Actually sick of my child screaming blue murder whilst washing his hair. So I got in the bath with him and washed mine with a jug to show him it’s not scary 🤣🤣. And he didn’t cry when I did his 🙈. Not sure my hair will appreciate it tho

I’m so sad about mine leaving nursery. They had a celebration today where the kids did a song and a dance and each got a little certificate for something they are good at… I didn’t get chance to go but his dad said all the teachers were proud of him for joining in and he said one or two were crying. And they keep telling me how much they are going to miss him. He’s been there since he was 2 😭. I really don’t want to say bye to them tomorrow 🤣🤣🤣

Yes I am soft

Sorry to randomly jump in on the thread!
I need sleep advice please as I haven’t been this tired since she was a newborn 😩😭
My daughter (2.5yrs) had a long period of sleeping through the night, waking around 7-7:30am. She’s recently just outright refusing naps most days, maybe having them once/twice a week.
she’s started waking again in the night several times, although she mostly settles again quickly once I reassure her I’m only in the other room.
our main issue is that she is now up and ready to start the day around 5-5:30am!
I’ve tried forcing the naps but it’s just not really happening…anyone had any luck with an earlier bedtime?! (Hers is currently 7:30pm)

just want to get back to the old routine as close as we can! 😩

I went through this with my daughter! You just have to ride it out. Can you have a quiet hour or so on the days she’s refusing to nap, make sure she’s asleep FOR half 7, so start bedtime at 7, get her to fall asleep around 7.15ish and by she’s fully asleep it’ll likely be half 7. I used to put my daughter to bed at half 7 and by time she was fully asleep it was more 7.45-7.50 and I noticed she was asleep till 7! ☺ it sounds daft but it was making her overtired by time she fell into a deeper sleep.

it’ll be trial and error - her body will be still getting used to not napping and being awake all day so that’ll be making her more tired too and potentially overtired by 7.30pm/by time she falls asleep. Try 7.15pm, if that doesn’t work 7pm xx

My 2yo is up for the day around 5 most days.
Putting her to bed later actually makes it worse. So she goes to bed at 6pm.
She hasn't napped since 18 months.
Putting her to bed later means she's over tired which means she wakes more and sleeps worse so earlier bed times have been much better.
Although she is just an early riser in general. But put her to be later and she wants to get up at 4am 😂

As @al255 said, it is a case of trial and error

Thankyou both!! I have thought it’s most likely over-tiredness so will try for an earlier bed time tonight 🤞🏻 think we had slipped into the habit of a later bedtime so that she saw her dad for half hour or so when he got back from work! It’s a shame but not fair to carry on if it’s not working for us. Thanks again 🥰

Someone on fb marketplace was selling a teepee for £10. I thought it’ll be great for summer holidays. He’s obsessed , he loves it. I’m gonna be in it all of the summer hols I can tell 🤣🤣🤣🤣

My 2 year old keeps pointing at her head and saying “hurt” and I don’t know if she’s actually got a sore head or she’s just learnt a new word she can’t quite use in context yet.. it’s a minefield 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mine seems to be afraid of his new cup. 🤦‍♀️ the parenting books really did not prepare me.

Have you or MrRose been chatting about a sore head? In the past we’ve had toddlers say similar things, and it’s because one of us has said it

she’s been saying it for a while, so I can’t actually remember but I’m assuming she’s picked it up from somewhere like that, now I think about it though I think it started just after she took a tumble and banged her head, so I’m not sure if she’s learnt it from that? But I was just worried she might actually have hurt her head and we were just assuming she didn’t know what she was saying

Yesterday toddler gravy hurt her leg having a carry on with her dad. Wouldn't bear weight on it, wanted carried kept saying it was sore and crying. So we took her to A&E. We got seen so quickly which is great....but as soon as we got into the room with the triage nurse she started running around like nothing happened 🙃 absolutely mortified that we wasted their time 🙈

Happens all the time, better to be safe than sorry! We've taken mini Pillows to A&E/out of hours 3 or 4 times on the advice of 111 and every time she's made us look to be complete liars :ROFLMAO:

Yeah defo better to be safe than sorry! To be fair the nurse did say it was common with kids but she loved seeing them because it helps break up her day with all the drunks/drug dependent people 😞 (centre of Glasgow so a busy hospital!)

We were in hospital with my 5 year old yesterday. She's drowsy and had a 40+ temp along with other things.
Sitting there waiting and she's singing at the top of her lungs 🙃

Hi all! I hope everyone is well. Took a bit of a break during our first family vacation together. We went to Copenhagen for a few days. Was great and now we’re back and Toddler Bluebird has a new skill ?? She has 3 teeth and is grinding them and I’m not sure what to do. She has two bottom and one right canine and seems to be getting some more
Uppers currently.
Do I do anything about it or just leave it?
