Ah no 😩 Have you got some older kids off school at the minute as well as a toddler? It can be so bloody intense having everyone at home with you.
No I only have one. Mine probs isn’t classed as a toddler anymore 😂😂. He’s 3 and a bit. He goes to a school based nursery and it’s summer hols. It’s finding things to do and the money as well. He’s not as tired either when he’s not at nursery so getting him to bed has been a nightmare 😭

That was me !!!! When he’s at nursery he goes to bed at 630 😭😭😭 and he’s only just gone now and I was trying for well over a hour just wouldn’t settle and being giddy. He was shattered as well so probs over tired

Anyone else absolutely hating the summer hols
Yesss, me! He usually goes to nursery three mornings a week so it feels like hard work trying to keep him entertained all day every day! He’s been climbing the bloody walls. We go out for a walk every day to try and burn off some of his energy but it doesn’t always work. And we go through about a millions snacks a day.

I think there’s something in the air as my daughters been fighting bedtime this week. She doesn’t go to preschool yet but all her usual groups are not on so that’s probably having an effect. I’ve given up and doing bedtime at 8pm and she goes off in a few minutes.

Ahh sorry!

What I do at the start of each summer is make a list of places to go and things to do, and allocate one to every day. I then kind of plan each week loosely to make sure we have something every day, and a nice mix of stuff. So we may have two bigger days out, two park trips and a trip to the library.

We are lucky here that we have a lot of free, outdoor areas (forest parks, play parks, nature reserves etc) so we mostly do those. I try to only do 2-3 “paid” activities per summer, so things like the farm, zoo, museum. (The only exception to that is we go swimming every week, which is £10 for me and the 4 kids so I don’t think that’s too bad!) I also always take lunch with us, I never buy it out which helps keep costs down.

Omg same here. I feel like I go food shopping and then 2 days later nothing in!! We’ve been to three parks since tues!!! , the zoo today, went to a play area Sunday morning .. he went swimming last week as well! Don’t want to wish time away but roll on September 😭

I think I’m going to have to do the same. Last night was 750 tonight 805… I just hate later bed times cos I feel like I don’t get an evening then as I get up early for work so usually in bed and asleep before 10 😂

Oh I feel ya. I’m shattered by then and would rather her be in bed at 7 so I can have an evening and still be in bed for 9 🤣 But I’d much rather just have an hour of calm play and nice time together than getting stressed and upset with it.

Yeah I completely agree. I just led there whilst he messed around on the bed and we read a few books. I didn’t tell him off as I couldn’t be bothered and I guess it’s my fault for trying too early. And it’s not forever is it 😁

It’s really hard, I have an 18 month old who hates being indoors and gets really agitated unless we go somewhere (even just the garden)

I am a proper introvert so pre baby would have happily spent days inside

I rely a lot on the structure of playgroups to help me get out with her but they’re all off for the summer which is tough. It’s kind of my first summer holidays with a toddler as this time last year she was teeny.

I get you completely. I’ll happily have a day on the sofa not even open my curtains sometimes if I’m not feeling great but I can’t do that now I have a son. Especially cos my boyfriend works a lot so often it’s just us 2 and if we haven’t gone out the house by a certain time he’ll bring me my shoes and put his coat on 🥹🥹. Sometimes even just a drive is enough for him. But in summer especially I have to force myself. But at the minute with everything being so expensive I’m finding it so hard work. I went to a play area last week and it’s usually £6 and they put it up to £10 which did anger me purely for school hols 😡

This has made me feel a lot better about how I feel about the summer holidays and bed time! I agree one big (paid) activity a week and the rest is just free “activities” like visiting the library, going for a food shop, going on a scavenger hunt (anything with a basket can be called a scavenger hunt in my book) cooking, paddling pool in the garden, junk modelling (only recently got into this), cooking, going to the park (my worst activity!).
With bed time I find that going for a walk just before dinner makes my (nearly 3) year old a bit more tired for bedtime and avoids any danger nap time!
Sometimes just a play date can tire her out as it’s mental stimulation as well as physical I assume? And takes the pressure off mummy entertainment 😂
