I feel very lucky that my 4yo, I can just put in bed, say goodnight and she chats to herself for a bit and then goes sleep.

Howeverrrr. My 1yo has truly made up for that 😂 and I feel like she's going to be one that won't go sleep by herself and takes forever and I'll be battling bedtimes 😂
She's never woken up past 5.30 either so I feel like she was sent to test me 😂

If I put my son in his room in bed by himself and left he’d just get up and start doing laps of his room 😂 I am jealous of anyones child who can go to sleep by themselves

Mine doesn’t go to bed by himself either. He’s so soft 😂 if I go down he just wants to follow. It’s a lot easier and quicker if I just lie there 😂 I’m sure it won’t be forever

Yeah my son is the same, we say good night and leave him to fall asleep. Sometimes it takes a while but he’s happy chatting to himself or playing with his teddies. He’s always been a good sleeper. That’s one of the reasons we’re sticking with one, guaranteed if we had another they would never sleep! 😆

Once mine is down he sleeps through and does really well! I also am one and done 😬

Must be something in the air… A (2.7 y/o) had a 50 min nap and went to sleep at 8:30pm.. we’ve been out in the garden all evening as it’s been so nice and she’s been hyper 😂😫 I’m lucky she literally knows it’s bedtime and will just mess around in her bed but long gone are the days I go in and faff. I say goodnight, kiss and cuddles and then once the door is shut I only go in unless it’s life or death 😂😂😂 she can talk all she wants and mess around I ain’t going back in.

I often spend my time thinking about all the sleep I used to get 😂
I naively thought with having 2 good sleepers, I'd get a 3rd.
She just makes up for the other 2 now 😂😂

8.30 tonight, been an absolute cow bag to me today too. All she’s done is cry or shout at me and she followed me into the toilet and slapped me in the face. Don’t know if it’s school holidays, she’s poorly or it’s a phase but this week has been really hard.

Both toddlers here fell asleep either side of me after being knackered from playing outdoors all day. 👌🏻 Fresh air is just the winner when it comes to kids!

Gosh that sounds awful for you both (mostly you to be fair! But obviously she’s been having some big, uncomfortable feelings). I hope you guys have a better day tomorrow x

Yeah I feel sorry for her. I totally get why and I’ve been really calm, mostly cuz I feel guilty I can’t do as much with her as I used to. Think we’re in for a bit of a run of it with her starting her settling in sessions at preschool next week. Better get used to it as she’s gonna lose her tit when the baby is here 🤣

Sorry it’s been tit! All week my daughter was like that, to put it bluntly I was SO glad to ship her off to her dads Thursday night and not have to see her until today. Honestly I’d had enough, it was one thing after another, meltdowns over literally NOTHING! Pouring water over herself in the car on the way to her Dads, I was honestly done. I got her out and said good luck 😂got her back today and wow, different child. She said please and thank you to me for so much and she was just lovely. Her attitude and general demeanour this week was horrendous! But she’s 2.5 and doesn’t really understand how to deal with her emotions and tied down with being abit tired too..!! I always feel guilty when I shout and get pissed off at her but the final straw for me was when she got grapes out the fridge and led down with them trying to eat them, she knows FULL well they needed cutting and she wasn’t listening to me at all. Let alone anything else I’ve had to deal with this week. I just thought WHERE THE HELL has my nice child gone?? It’s very rare we have a whole week where she’s awful. 😫

In the same boat over here 🙋🏻‍♀️ I’m 38+3 so I think she’s really getting a feeling that a big change is brewing so as much as I’m finding her behaviour overwhelming and a lot to handle I just feel guilty 😭

Considering splitting up with my fella to get a break now 🤣🤣 that sounds so hard, when they do dangerous stuff that’s when I shout because it panics me. Tbh my daughter has always been emotional so the meltdowns don’t phase me anymore but the bad behaviour like spitting, throwing toys and hitting is new and upsets me. But it’s normal toddler behaviour so just trying to take it in my stride.

Much further along than me, I’m only 17 weeks. It’s awful the mum guilt isn’t it. Hope you’re not feeling too awful. Have you read “The second baby book” there’s some good advice in there. I’ve not read it fully yet as a bit too early for some of it for me but you might find it helpful!

Hi all, am new to this thread and am at my wits end.
(I apologise if my post isn’t relevant to this thread just let me know) also ⚠ TMI POOP TALK ⚠

I have a 4yo who has been toilet trained almost a year and a half now. Never had any problems with bowl movements etc. 2 weeks ago our household came down with covid, knocked our routine out of whack. My 4yo was constipated during it, and did one painful constipated bowl movement and then developed a phobia. She flat out refused to go poo after that. She went on a 4 day stretch and day 5 managed to pass a brick like poo (which fuelled her fear even more)
Now she’s flat out refusing to poop.
I have tried lactulose (not seen much progress)
Movicol (I’ve tried it in milk, smoothies, juice, heck even icecream and she just spits it out)
Currently we are on califig twice a day.
she is passing stools albeit tiny ones every few days and is holding it in. Whenever she passes wind she soils her pants slightly. It’s a never ending nightmare. She’s just holding her poo in and is refusing to let go.
her diet is normal, she’s getting fibre, fruit & veggies, and is drinking loads of water & apple juice.

ive tried offering her princely things in exchange for her trying to push, been really really supportive, read loads of poop books to her, watched loads of poop songs, videos of animals, even explained the digestive system to her to try and demystify it but nothing is working.
she is uncomfortable all the time and is just holding it in.
please, any hints, tips, advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, he was an angel in the cot. Now, he’s a little devil. He will also get in and out of bed. He will stay awake until his brother goes to bed, then he’ll stay up annoying him 🫠
He did go straight to sleep tonight. He was knackered!!

A friend of mine has a daughter who has suffered from chronic constipation and related issues like you’ve mentioned. A few times she has had to get suppositories from the doctor which then help to “clear out” the blockage really quickly (in comparison to something like movicol) and it kind of resets them again. She then does daily movicol/lactulose (can’t remember which) to keep things moving. It may be worth asking your dr for suppositories to help clear out the back log and hopefully get her back on track.
Kiwis are supposed to be one of the best fruits to keep things moving - a dietician friend gives her daughter 2 kiwis a day as she previously struggled with constipation

I don’t have first hand experience as we’re not there yet but I’ve heard this so many times from other parent friends so you’re soo not alone. It might not work if she’s properly constipated but if it’s more of a fear thing have you tried seeing if she will ‘go’ in the bath? When it’s warm / she’s relaxed and comfortable?
I know it’s a bit weird and you don’t wanna encourage it long term but my friends daughter had a similar experience and for a while that was her solution until she realised it wasn’t painful anymore and then mentally was ready to use the toilet again!! It didn’t seem to set her back with toilet training but am not an expert at all just something that stuck in my head! X
