Not a fan of Amma. She does care about Tiffany, like noone else in this family it seems, but she's not very smart. That would explain being a religious freak believing in miracles, just like all the blinded people in comments.

I'm not entirely sure I trust Amma either. I get the feeling that Tiffany tells her what to say before the camera is switched on. 'Amma, tell my Loving Tiffany Thinks Family that the cancer could have gone away! Then they'll keep tuning in to find out what happens next.'

This might be random, but...is LARC almost always caused by HPV, or just mostly anal cancer? Or would Tiffany not have had genetic testing if they already knew hers was caused by HPV?
Farrah Fawcett died of anal cancer caused by one of the rare HOV tupe cancers. Very sad.

I truly believe Tiffany is terminal and is in complete denial. I think Amma and Matt know this or at least suspect this as well. I think Amma and Matt just agree with everything she wants to keep her happy and pacify her, sadly.

My ex-husband's father died of colon cancer. He was the type who never went to doctors. He had a lot of abdominal pain. He had so much pain one day, he couldn't have a bowel movement. He had to go for an emergency colonoscopy. We found out he had a tumor so large it was blocking his entire sigmoid colon. They could not get the scope past the tumor without it bleeding. They then reasmoved about 6 inches of his colon. Unfortunately, it was too late as the cancer had spread to his liver. They tried a round of chemo and radiation but nothing was working. He was moved to hospice after about 2 weeks at hospital and about 3 weeks at home. After 1 week in hospice, he passed away.

I also lost my father to stomach cancer so I am quite familiar with this nasty disease. I have a bad feeling about Tiffany. I suspect they cannot get past the tumor with the scope. I think if they tried, she would bleed excessively and in her frail condition, that could be very dangerous. The surgeon probably saw how large the tumor was and felt it wasn't worth doing the biopsy. Her constantly being on morphine was just like my father and father-in-law at the end. Neither of them could go without morphine as the pain was too much. This might be TMI for some people, but the oncologist told us that if he did not have the tumor removed when he did, he would not be able to have a bowel movement and would throw up everything he ate because the tumor created a blockage. He even mentioned that some patients even start vomiting feces at the end due to the blockage. Colon cancer is a nasty disease. Also, her being tired could be because of internal bleeding at the tumor site. A lot of people with colon cancer will have anemia from the tumor bleeding internally.

I'm sorry to say, but I think the doctors now know she is terminal and are hesitant to tell her because of her mental instability and behaviour. I feel so sorry for everyone involved in this including Tiffany. She is a royal pain in the butt but I think when she finally realizes her true situation, it will destroy her mentally and maybe even physically.
As someone else mentioned would they allow her to leave with such a blockage?

You are right. Doctors

I am new here. Tiff deleted my comment that I suggested to find new surgeons ... In the UK must be more surgeons who are capable do similar operations and also more reliable. I saw Tattle link between comments.
I agree she is in denial. But according to the papers she showed us, she is not terminal, not in palliative care. Stage 3 rectal cancer with good treatment plan can be successfully treated in most cases. Her treatment should have curative intent. In the other hand her situation might go worse since she didn't have treatment for 2 months.
Are you a doctor ? Are you talking about this comment below ?

I agree she is not supposed to be terminal and her treatment plan is … different ? I don’t know if you’re in UK, I am French so I don’t know for sure, but according to people living in UK/ London, Marsden Hospital is a really good one. Don’t you think that maybe her doctors know what they do even if it seems unconventional ? At first I wondered if they were crazy but now I don’t know, we don’t know enough to be able to assess her exact situation whereas they do … Is it really possible they are so bad or is she lying pretending they are the ones pushing for the wait and watch whereas she is the one who refuses surgery ???

The Royal Marsden Hospital is one of the worlds leading specialist cancer centres. Her doctors/oncologists are NOT lying to her. Her medical team will be some of the worlds best - the only person who is lying in all this is Tiffany.

You might know this already but Tiffany chose to put off the surgery, she could have had the surgery. This isn't a case of poor treatment, any delays Tiffany has played a part in. She is being treated at a world-renowned cancer centre, not some back alley clinic.

Yes that’s what I think too. I know they are probably good. And I know she’s probably manipulative and probably lying about stuffs but I am not sure she lies about everything, maybe she only hides/ lies about some things but which ones haha …

I did a little research on “her” surgeon and found this article: https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/health/879384/Bowel-cancer-survivor-second-doctor-s-opinion/amp

“Paul’s surgeon, Mr Shahnawaz Rasheed, says: “We gave Paul chemotherapy and radiotherapy and in a small proportion of patients this shrinks the cancer completely. Paul was one of the lucky people for whom the cancer regressed. Because the treatment is still in trial stage, we don’t yet know what percentage of patients it works for but it’s less than 50 per cent.” - maybe it’s the case with Tiff? On the other hand, I saw few posts that her oncologist said the tumor is still the same and what would block the scope if we throw away obstruction (as other mentioned she would be kept in hospital and operated).

I mean if they are that good and if they definitely think the surgery ASAP is the best or only good option they would not offer wait and watch by default or because she said so… They would push for it and would try to convince her or/and her relatives and they would probably succeed . We don’t know if she is completely responsible . It might be true that the team of surgeons is not quite confident with the surgery and its benefits/risks ratio and she is not at fault for that. And wait and watch does not mean no surgery ever the surgeon was clear about it : if there is any abnormal findings on MRI he might have a try at surgery…

It's also really unsettling that she said Amma told her "what if there is no tumor there anymore so they can't biopsy anything"....what in the world would give her the idea that suddenly the tumor just vanished out of nowhere?... That comment alone shows how detached Tiffany is from reality. You're in the hospital throwing up and sick, you're still taking morphine, but you think the cancer just isn't there anymore??

I think that Amma will do anything to support her daughter. Sometimes when i see the pain in her eyes it saddens me. If tiffany is "directing" her, that would be so cruel. If my child was going thru what tiffany is going through, I would not want a camera in my face. But I would go along with it just to support them but it would be a hellish experience.

They are a world renowned cancer centre, there's no questioning of 'if they're that good'. People don't lose personal autonomy just because they have an illness, you cannot force someone to have treatment for an illness like this. It is very evident through Tiffany's recount of events and her general demeanour that it is her that pushed the watch and wait approach, the team looking after her can tell her that it will be the best outcome for her until they're blue in the face, but if she doesn't want it they have to find an alternative approach.

I think the first round of Chemo didn't shrink the tumour, so they put her on Chemo and Radio a second time but as a preventative measure to stop spread, rather than reduce.

Not to say that isn't possible, I don't know that and the article seems to suggest otherwise - but I still think it'd be surprising.

Very interesting thank you, so we know her doctor chooses in some cases the wait and watch trials … I mean if he is that good and offered that option it’s probably because it’s one of the best option she can get. He knows what he does. And he might have been the one pushing for the wait and watch as far as we know. That’s what she said. That’s what Matt said. Less than 50% is not a bad stat considering the benefits of a complicated and uncertain surgery ( not sure he will have clear margins / no cancerous cells left at microscopic levels) with high risks of local reoccurrences anyway.

I think we know by this point what her and Matt say has zero credibility. I really struggle to believe that it was her surgeon who pushed for wait and watch, it doesn't make any sense. If her surgeon thought that was truly the best option, considering what a harrowing surgery it is, I think he would've taken surgery off the table completely and explained why. I also don't think Tiffany is the kind of person to agree to a medical trial, you have to agree to be part of a trial and this wouldn't have just been sprung on her in a pre-op appointment. We have little to no information from Tiffany when it comes to her disease, we are essentially watching lifestyle vlogs from a hospital bed at this point.

I am quite convinced they are very good. That’s why I am quite sure they are the ones who pushed for the wait and watch . The surgery would be of great benefits they would have pushed for it and would have succeeded, they might do it in the future. They would not let her this option if she was not a good candidate even if she « doesn’t like the surgery ». Not everyone can go in those trials as they are pleased just because they don’t « feel » the surgery you know … Some criterias have to be respected to be in those trials and she probably has them ( more or less perfectly obviously as each case is unique ) .

Glad to see the wait and watch issue being discussed as it's something I have been really confused about. It's been established her surgeon is an excellent one so are people not believing that he told her that would be his recommendation? She said he gave her the options but said that he himself recommends wait and watch. I see a lot of people thinking she should have had surgery, something I agree with, but it would also seem she is just following her doctor's advice so should we really fault her on following the advice of such a well respected surgeon?

They can't force her to have surgery? If a patient is refusing to have the most optimal treatment they have to do the next best thing for their care. I'm well aware you don't just choose to go into a medical trial, that's why I'm pretty convinced she isn't on one, because she would have had at least some psychological input.

Tiffany is most def not on a medical trial.
Surgeon didn't think surgery was appropriate right now because scans and biopsies are showing NED.Watch and wait is sensible.

Taking surgery off the table completely is not part of the wait and watch protocols though . Surgery when possible and urgently needed is always performed so if he finds any cancerous activity in the tumour he will try his best to perform surgery for sure. Wait and watch is only possible for stable people with stable size of tumour and clear MRI/ scans.
I wondered why she didn’t say she was in a trial cause yes you have to sign to agree to be in it. Maybe they want to check if she remains stable without treatment for some weeks / months before considering definitely putting her in the trial but are definitely thinking about it. I agree that we have little to no information so we obviously don’t know for sure …

I can imagine what my own mother would have said if I insisted that she wear a We Got This t-shirt to every sodding appointment. She'd have either said 'I don't think so' or 'wear it yourself.' But then, we would not have had a main aim of making as much money as possible. Our main aim would have been survival.
