I've caved and had another coffee this afternoon. I'm in work on my own today and it's been LOOOONGG AF. Well it hasn't its gone quick because it's been busy but when you're on your own its a lot and I have PT later 😖

Today was a fail on my mini mission to have a more nutritious diet. I'll have plenty of veggies for lunch tomorrow.

I managed to catch up with my expenses since April though! I have a full list of what I spent and where, and my overall spending each month. I was doing well until July, it went downhill with August. I'll make an effort to keep my daily spending logs again, oddly enough they also help refresh my memory about what I have done that day, when I'm doing the end of the month check 🙏 I've accepted that December will be a spendy one with a couple birthdays and Christmas, come January it's frugal season again.

Do you use any software to keep track of your expenses? Or just paper and pen?

This is a great thread! For me I've a few things I need to do to get my healthier balanced lifestyle back on track

1) do less overtime, I've been doing 56 hour weeks when normally I do 35.
2) ditch eating so much beige 🥴😂 I used to be so good with home cooked meals but for obvious reasons the long work hours has made that slip.
3) stick to my two year money plan - using Dave Ramsey Method.
4) socialise more, I'm guilty of becoming a hermit as its just so convenient but I always feel better for seeing others.
5) get back into the gym and get this excess weight off. Not particularly for how I look but for how I feel, I ache often and my back and feet hurt and it's definitely down to carrying excess weight.
6) start living more holistically, it always makes me feel better.
7) Read all my books I've downloaded. Got lots of manifestation and self help books I want to read and begin practicing. Along with practicing gratitude.

Just paper and pen. Tried a couple apps but I found the old notepad working for the best. Especially since I am not connecting anything to bank accounts. I find the act of writing also helps me remember it better, compared to putting more numbers on a screen.

I've decided that I want to try and work down to zero caffeine (both drinks and chocolate) by 1st Jan. It's definitely far, far easier than going cold turkey but I am bone tired and headachey (though not the debilitating headaches that come with CT thankfully.) Dropped down to three cans today (but too much chocolate to get through work) and will be in bed early tonight.

All the more reason I should be giving up to be fair, it's clearly not any good for me and I've been hooked since I was 10 so enough is enough. I feel like this might be the time I actually manage it.

Hope your plans are all going good (y)

This sounds like good plan and good for you for trying! I know you can get caffeine free coco cola if you wanted to try that but still have the taste of it? Could 'trick' you into thinking you're having it

Well, after that post I feel asleep less than five minutes after finishing work, slept for two hours and woke up feeling like I've been hit by a bus... so will go back to four until I feel more 'normal' at that level and then drop down. It'll take longer but should work more.

Since I caught up with my spending, I'll replace that with a new mini goal: Doing something that doesn't involve a screen every night.

I spend all day at work staring at a computer under awful fluorescent lights, I come home and I watch series or videos on my phone, tv or computer. Almost every waking hour I have is spent across a screen of some kind. It can't be good for my eyes and I'm tired of not being able to switch off properly. Doing something like writing longhand or going back to needlework will help me give my sight a break from screen light and hopefully rest my mind too. I am 'connected' non-stop. (I am too ashamed to admit my phone usage time, it's that bad. It's a wonder how I find time to go about my day, do my job and keep up with the flat.) This also ties to not wanting to scroll mindlessly as soon as I wake up, I'll reduce the time I'm glued to any screen and do other things I actually enjoy. (y)

That's a great goal! I recommend giving diamond painting a go if you haven't tried it.

I said I'd only drink alcohol in the New Year when Liverpool play lol.

I'm definitely cutting out on saying yes to every invitation for a "casual" drink though. The culture here is never just one or two so easier for me to just limit the amount of times I say yes.

I’ve been trying this too, in the evenings I’ve been doing English paper piecing from my fabric scraps to start a scrappy quilt

Hello! Bumping this thread back up

ive been doing well getting back into my exercise. I do a get fit with rick every other day, sometimes I do 2 in the day. I always bang on about him, I highly recommend. So fun 🤣 anyway i decided the other day to start a squat challenge and a sit up challenge. Just go up 5 squats and 5 sit ups everyday. I done 45 of each today, after my GFWR’s. It’s nice just doing a little bit, im so self conscious about my belly after having a baby. Im seeing a bit of a difference tbh! With my Rick’s, walking with the baby and now these challenges

plus it helps me with my mood too!

Hope everyone is good? Can’t say I’m doing too well with my no Coca Cola 😂 I’m still having one everyday, maybe 2 days is the furthest I’ll go without

Hi I’d like to join this thread. I have a lot of little things I want to work on to generally improve myself and my relationship all in the name of giving the best life for my 4 month old son.

- I’d like to improve my relationship with food. It’s too easy for me to reach for an unhealthy snack instead of a piece of fruit or something. I also pretty much always have something chocolatey for pudding and I don’t want it anymore! I want my son to be healthy through following my healthy habits.

- Get out the house more. I need to just go for a little walk with my boy as close to every day as I can manage. I have a bit of anxiety about leaving the house and it’s so much better than years ago but if I don’t have to go somewhere I come up with excuses and just stay home. I want my boy to be sociable and he won’t be if he’s always home with mama.

- I’d really like to stop nitpicking at my husband. We’ve had our issues but he’s so good and I just don’t allow myself to see that sometimes. We both have a lot to work on but I really need to praise more and criticise less. It’s to do with me wanting to control everything and if he does anything slightly different I just snap at him and it’s unnecessary.

Any tips for these greatly appreciated!

I'm just going easy with goals until I feel better.

Having another bad asthma spell has made me very determined to (healthily) reduce my weight next year. I'm currently classed as class three obese so rather than shoot for 'goal weight' I'm going to focus on becoming class two obese - which is only 16lb away, and feels like a more reachable target.

@Kitt i felt the same when my little boy was a newborn, I weren’t the most outgoing of people and hated going for walks on my own but the baby really brought out a nice side of me that loves going for walks! I love putting him in the pram and just going for a stroll, if it to the shops or around a park. It really helps my mood! I tend not to of the weather is really bad. Round by where I live there is a baby group that specifically goes for walks with the pram, it’s on a Wednesday and they find somewhere new to walk every week and at the end go for a coffee. It’s nice cos there are loads of mums to talk to so you make friends and your baby gets out and about! Other than that just walking round parks, I’ve ended up just nattering to someone else pushing a pram or with a baby. It really helps, especially if you’re in a funk, just always have the motivation to go for a walk and you’ll feel better for it

Hi! I really enjoy the website CityStrides (https://citystrides.com/) for getting out and about with walking - you link it to your GPS and it will show all the streets you've walked, the aim is to get the number higher.

Plus it's free, and going round different streets rather than the same routes over-and-over makes it more interesting.

Oh I might check out that app too thanks Gladiator!

I like having my fit bit on, I know it’s not the most accurate of things but sometimes I really just like bumping my steps up. If I have a day where I only do 5000/6000, I feel a bit more motivated to do 10k+
