How is everyone's dogs with the fireworks? Mine isn't that bothered barks occasionally in the house but if she is outside whilst they are going off she isn't bothered

Mine was fine ,listened but was unduly worried. They made me jump though....at least we're done here till NYE.
They are illegal here but...
She doesn't like them but isn't too bothered, previous hound would tremble & pant every night, it was horrible to see.
@Bobby Chariot I know you have adopted ex greys, is it this time of year when aload of them are in rehoming homes looking to get adopted? I ask, if you remember when we wanted to adopt a dog, which unfortunately didn't work out, I do check their website as a few I saw are still there

They seem to be available in waves mind you, all year round, maybe when dogs are deemed not good enough for the track they come as groups to rescue shelters?
The place we got our latest girl a couple of years ago was packed & had around 70 Greys available, with dogs arriving regularly from the North of England.
Greyhounds are over-bred, a lot of them tend to come from breeders in Ireland, every Grey we've had was born there.
It's just so sad how many of them end up in rehoming shelters
Potato dog is really struggling with the fireworks, which isn't helping with the neurological sides of things with him drastically deteriorating. I don't know how to comfort him anymore when the fireworks scare him. He's also barking at seemingly nothing which is hard to reason with. It's so difficult atm with him as the zoned out and aggressive moments are seemingly most of the day. He went for my hand yesterday, which is so unlike the potato dog he used to be. This week is one of the hardest as he will have his forever sleep next week.

Thank you, it's hard to see him how he is. He's gone through alot in his little life, we took him on at a year old with him being a known bite risk to men due to abuse. But he loved me and gradually with medication and alot of work put in he loved my partner and would play with him and was like a completely different pup. Now, it's so incredibly hard when he is aggressive at me and falling over. It's lovely when he is himself and I can cuddle him, but they're so short lived atm. And the damn fireworks aren't helping.
Mainly because the Irish government encourages the racing industry and gives them all,sorts of tax breaks. Its awful.

My girl hates the fireworks. She's not as bad as my old family dog who would tremble and cower in a corner but she's so on edge, tail tucked, ears back and when it's a loud one she will shake a little. We're using the happy hoodie which is helping a little and we're comforting her without making her think it's scary, if you get what I mean? She has her little nook that she can go to if she needs to hide away but she prefers mama hugs which I'm happy with.

Mine hates them and he’s just moving all over the house hiding in different places. We live near one horrible street and they have been randomly setting them off most days for a month now, even in daylight.
Was fuming before as took the dog out at 4pm for the toilet before it got dark and they set bangers off at 4.15 right when we were walking past and just as the dog was about to have poo. Needless to say, he didn’t have a poo and ran home

Have you tried Rescue Remedy for nervous dogs? I used to give it to my old boy and it helped a bit!
