I do private lessons with him every week but cause I'm learning too he is better than me
I found that as well so many places just never got back to me. I did do group lessons last year somewhere else but they were bad at replying to me about booking in private sessions after the group ones ended. So I ended up with the new person then the other person finally got back to me. The new place is closer to home so is better. More expensive obviously as it's private sessions rather than group but we get to do more than before. I was just wondering from people who have done it how long it took the human to learn I do agility... after about 18 months of group classes I feel like I mostly understand the terminology, but obviously the harder the courses are the less competent at handling I get definitely there's a lot to learn!
I think that group lessons are good if you can do them for teaching you and your dog to work around other dogs, and also it helps to see other people's successes and mistakes (and for moral support if you want to do shows and things). I got into my class by initally doing private lessons with the instructor and then getting a group spot from there. Maybe that would be a good way in for you.

oh yes didn't think about that group classes would be good for being around other dogs/people. We can do about half a course so far.Id like to do shoes eventually
.We have been doing it probably around 14 months but that included 8 months of nothing as the weather cancelled some over winter and then it took me months to find somewhere else to go as my old place were bad at replying. The old place seems to be posting more about agility so I think I'd go back there if needed. More so as it's a 20min drive away all the others I found were a lot more.
The one I go to now for private sessions is only 6 min drive though which is nice. I think she only does one group session and then privates for everyone else. I think the group is for people who are competing already.
I have someone on social media who went to my original group classes and she's just started to compete now (jumps/tunnels) but she has a collie who is easier to train and also didn't take a big break like me. My dog is stubborn and can be hard to focus, he is very independent. But when he is focused he is really good. He just got him comfortable (hopefully) with the dog walk, he loves the A frame, nearly there with weaves and we are going to start seesaw soon.
Do you ever go to any of the work shops people do? I don't think my dogs up to that yet but a friend who does it goes to them

all ok now a little rest and painkillers done the job. He’s getting older now he’s almost 14, his joints are developing arthritis now and have to pick him up and help him onto the sofa sometimes…see last pic for spot the dog!

probably best to find a trainer that does agility, but it's quite fun and I hope you are fit enough to run with your dog going over the jump.

I did look at hoopers too but couldn't find one close enough. Yeh the other day I was struggling to keep up my dog is fast. It was two long tunnels after eachother at one part of the course we were doing and we'd done it twice in a row without a break shame you can't find hoopers close enough! we go a lot to a local trainer and it's really run! idea is you stand in the middle and point and dogs go through the hoops, but I'm still running with mineI do I was wondering how long it took the human to be trained

No I've not been to any workshops. I kinda feel like what my instructor has to say is enough for us at the moment!
I find it hard not to compare myself to others as well. My dog also isn't a collie and there are people who started at the same time who are much better than us. In those times I have to remind myself that I'm doing this for fun and for my dog. We're never going to crufts and that's totally fine! As long as he's having a good time, that's my top priority!

Once I realised nobody else was going clear I felt much less nervous about entering
Haha maybe my dog could but I'd definitely forget the course in a slow learner at it. The videos I saw of the collie from the group classes was just tunnels and jumps so I think he could do that but me I'm not sureYes, weekly.
