I say this all the time, but she’s so astonishingly mid that I can’t see why on Earth she’s an ‘influencer’ (other than her bank balance and carbon footprint, which are much higher than average!) - she’s so boring and average and wears weird clothes and doesn’t even run much. What’s the point?!

I think she got in early with her blog and it was right place right time. Plus she was improving and she was more relatable when nannying/studying and she did a bit of nutrition stuff.

The Sports Tours thing is ridiculous. I ran NY with them about 5 years ago. I was a sole female runner/traveller. I didn't feel intimidated and the "group" aspect you can take or leave. I am astounded they are wasting money on her TBH. I noticed she is trying to get into strength training again and spending some money on investing in herself (LOL) with PT. Didn't she do this last new year, too?! I think she's struggling with the fact that she isn't a very good runner, doesn't really like running, but wants to be a....runner?!

Yeah i’ve said this before, the barbie’s are a bit weird but wow do they work hard and get results and are significantly faster than beans will ever be.

Similarly, lillie’s fitness/mary mc carthy seem to run 5/6 times a week alongside all the other strength work etc and get the corresponding results which they deserve (even though I dont like either of them).

Beans is a very very average runner (and lazy with it too) despite huge amount of resources to be much better, she won’t BQ because she doesn’t ever train enough, and when she does train it’s a mediocre effort with not much dedication.

She would never do a race that isn’t insta worthy- has to be a major marathon or similar
The Barbies have that peculiar American Protestant work ethic mixed with the Mormon busyness ethic - up and on the treadmill by 3.00am if need be before their tribe of children wake up. That’s why they get their BQs because they quite literally never stop. Meanwhile, Charlie hasn’t set foot in her home gym (I dream!) for months.

Charlie barely works at running nor at her professional life. I have a similarly aged kid who is an only child and given this, I’m pretty sure if I REALLY wanted a BQ it’d be doable - with the help of a treadmill and some fairly ruthless time management. Her mum is very ill but that hasn’t been the reason for the first six times she’s started and failed to train for a BQ.

The American Barbie’s - that makes me laugh!
They are all incredible runners and work super hard! Charlie wishes she could run like them!

She posted a story yesterday, WFH lunch break, and she went to the gym to run on a treadmill! What is wrong with the one in her home gym? Surely that would have been a better use of time?

Two adults at a meal and she still sticks a screen in front of her child. She thinks posting stuff like that is “keeping it real,” but it’s really just showing that she does not enjoy being a parent.

She says it's so he'll eat, doesn't look like he's eating to me!

I've just done a weekend away at a wedding with my husband a 3 year old and a 9 month year old, which included 5 meals out (2 hotel breakfasts (only a premier inn, but still!!), 2 evening meals and a wedding reception meal at a very child unfriendly restaurant).

It wasn't easy, they weren't quiet or perfectly behaved, and we didn't get a whole load of adult conversation but it's the only way they will learn how to behave without looking at a screen.

And once you do the tablet/phone thing once that's it and then you have to deal with the tantrum when you say no to the tablet.

It's a very Instagram thing to take kids on these long haul foreign holidays, but I'm sure most people my age (mid 30s) didn't go abroad until they were older (11 ferry to France to buy cheap cigarettes...) I can see why they are tempted with his job but is it fair for the kid if the only thing keeping them happy is a screen?

I know it sounds judgemental and I'm not a screen free parent - I've seen Cars 1,2&3 more times than I care to mention. But two adults should be able to have a meal with one toddler.

Absolutely!! Lazy parenting. I never did it - kids didn’t have tablets til they were 8/9 - actually chat to your child and teach him how to sit and behave!

I’m not screen-free by any means, but I absolutely refuse to stick a phone in my kids’ faces at meals times. That’s when we sit together and interact (my youngest is Bertie’s age, so I get how difficult it can be). Now when I’m running around the house trying to multitask (I work a real full time job), yes they’ll watch Frozen for the millionth time 😂

We are not a screen free house but screens at meals is a hard no for me. Poor kid.

Also, he doesn’t have any headphones and somehow I doubt the phone is on silent 🤔

The whole post was annoying. She needs the screen to manage airports etc she says, but it's worth it to see him running around in the sun. Meanwhile the rest of us are stuck in a UK January... They've had countless trips away so actually does he need to be dragged to Bermuda to be sat looking at a phone screen and waiting while his mum does pointless races?
Also lolling at her WFH trip to the gym, clutching a Peloton water bottle and wearing Peloton leggings. But not bothering with using the actual Peloton itself😂 I'm kind of jealous, I don't have room for a Peloton and rarely have long enough at lunch for a quick stroll let alone driving to a gym for a treadmill run.

Glad others agree! The other thing is she seems to have plenty of child free time/trips so it's not like this would be her one opportunity to enjoy a hotel breakfast in peace!

I wonder how this is going to go when he goes to school and they cannot take him out for a quick trip every couple of weeks.

He would love jumping into a pool anywhere, Bermuda or the local pool....
This is it! They dragged him on an 8 hour flight, across time zones, where he was unable to sleep for the whole trip, when he would have been just as happy (or happier!) at the splash pad at Rivermead down the road from their house. This trip was for her, not Bertie.
