Sorry but this post about Battersea parkrun really rubs me up the wrong way. This is still a fairly new parkrun and the team is doing their best trying to manage over 1k runners every single week. Yes, you have to wait a little bit to get your token but honestly, it is parkrun who cares about their time and whether it is off by a few seconds because people mess around in the funnel. This is a free volunteer run event, perhaps not the best place for a sense of entitlement.

Edited to add: they messaged her saying they are struggling for volunteers and now she is calling on people to volunteer.... Perhaps she can lead by example?

I’m amazed she’s a nutritionist. Her run fuelling is terrible - Rice Krispie squares have literally no nutritional value whatsoever. There are far better ways to fuel yourself before runs that eating those! also cereal? Really?!!
Also there is a lot of evidence to show that running fasted (especially if it’s not very far) is totally fine, even beneficial. If you’re only running 3/4 miles in the morning I’m not sure you need to stuff your face with sugar before you go - you’ll have plenty of energy if you’re eating properly the day before.

I feel she still probably follows the shitty NHS food pyramid from about 1990 🙄
Actually running fasted increases stress and injury risk in women. Most of the evidence of it being fine/good is because studies used men only.

+ not every food item needs to have nutritional value, if it's just a sugary snack for a pre run boost then they seem like a pretty solid choice. Maybe she enjoys them. God forbid we encourage a healthy relationship with food where we can eat things just because we like them.

Anndddddd she’s off to Sydney *gifted

I do wish she’d stop banging on about being one of the youngest under 30 to run all six star marathons. One, it involves a huge amount of financial privilege to afford the long haul travel, and two, it only happened because she was gifted a place to Boston.

Truly the least relatable of the instarunners. My similarly aged child has been super clingy with me lately because I had to go back to work so they just started nursery. It’s been rough, and I feel awful for being away for hours a day. Meanwhile she juggles childcare just to run mediocre races half way across the world and has the audacity to be annoyed that her child misses her 🙄

I don’t think the 6 star finisher is anything special to aspire to, it’s just a commercial gimmick!
To me, it is simply a sign of financial privilege. I don’t deny you need to be a good runner to get a qualifying time, but you still need to be able to afford the place, flights, accommodation etc. Or you can buy your place through an organisation. All of it requires a lot of money and excludes many who are more than capable but don’t have the money or time to flit around the world to get a special medal! (I say this as someone who gets the times, and could afford it if I saved a bit, but won’t because I don’t like it being about wealth and exclusion).

Food being touted as fuel or medicine is harmful imo. We are being bombarded with messages the whole time about gut health/too many carbs/the right type of fats/sugar spiking. It can feed into disordered behaviour which can only end badly with regards to women and exercise.

We obviously need to eat a range of foods to be healthy but labelling food as crap or nutritious is not really necessary- it leads to guilt and other negative feelings which can spiral into unhealthy behaviours. I actually think (although she is annoying in other ways) RB has a really refreshing approach to nutrition and is much healthier in this respect to see than Jordan (or Kelly who seems to spend every pound she has on food for herself).

Her latest travel is to Boston to run around a track in a relay. If she spent less time travelling or at the Westin she could spend more time working towards the BQ that she’s never got despite running it twice

Beans is attempting to clap back at everyone who has quite rightly pointed out that she likes to palm her son off on anyone who will have him as part of “it’s okay for mums to have hobbies and chase big goals”

Which I totally agree with 💯 but…

I’m just gonna put it out there… what big goals? She trains and manages to compete at virtually nothing of note unless she gets a comped place. Her “hobby” appears to be flying long haul to turn up at the opening of envelope/minor 5km race.

Why is she so proud of being a six star finisher? To me it's just a sign of privilege that you can afford to do them and travel, I hate that it's a thing.

People congratulating her in her achievement for Sydney.. like what achievement? It's simply about having the money. 🙄

Makes a reel about how it’s so hard to fit training in alongside everything else then posts a story about how she is super excited to go to Paris for the Olympics (twice!). Make it make sense!

She seems pretty lost right now. She really wants to be a relatable mom, but her having one “rough” night with a toddler and then swanning off to the Westin or jetting halfway around the world solo (on a regular basis) is not relatable. She works part time but has more childcare (and seems to see her child less) than I do as a full time working mom.

She is all over the place in terms of content. Seems like she’s trying to throw darts everywhere but nothing sticks because she’s so inconsistent. I think I’d actually enjoy her if she owned her privilege and stopped trying to pretend to be someone else/relatable.

She is awful. I just watched a day in the life reel from the Gynae Geek, who is a similar age, is a doctor working (yes ACTUAL work) full time for the NHS, has two!! one year olds, also still manages to post genuinely useful content and write a book at the same time as doing actual work. And she doesn’t moan constantly 🤔 Take note runwalk beans

Testing her race day shorts, they are blue, and asking if she should wear a yellow top. Tell me you're running Boston without telling me you're running Boston.
